StreamFX creator here. You can drastically reduce the impact of the Blur filter by simply using the Dual Filtering type instead. The reduction in GPU usage from Dual Filtering results in it being almost 50 times faster than any other currently available blur method.

Thanks Nutty. I didn't realise how much gpu% is used when doing drop shadows with SDF effects filters! Also for those who want a free photo editor that's very similar to photoshop I'd recommend trying Photopea! It's a browser based photo editor, so you don't need to download anything and works almost like the real thing!
Hey man! Thanks for this awesome tip. When I was playing around, I realized that I can also use a mask with shadowed edges to put some kind of a dynamic shadow, even though it's not black, it works with camera colors and and less taxing on the processor than using the shadow effect.

Yes, this is what I do and its made a dramatic difference in GPU usage.
