silk sarees of kanchipuram is a type of silk saree made in the kanchipuram region in tamil nadu. these sarees are worn as bridal & special occasion sarees by most women in tamil nadu, karnataka & andhra pradesh.
the sarees are woven from pure mulberry silk thread. the pure mulberry silk used in the making of kanchipuram saris comes from south india and the zari comes from gujarat.to weave a kanchipuram sari three shuttles are used. while the weaver works on the right side, his aide works on the left side shuttle. the border color and design are usually quite different from the body. if the pallu (the hanging end of the sari) has to be woven in a different shade, it is first separately woven and then delicately joined to the sari.the part where the body meets the pallu is often denoted by a zig zag line.in a genuine kanchipuram silk sari, body and border are woven separately and then interlocked together. the joint is woven so strongly that even if the sarees tears, the border will not detach. that differentiates the kanchivaram silk sarees from the others.

Kanchi pattu sarees origin (born) was in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu people, Denvangas and Saligers, 2 big weaving groups, who migrated to Kanchi in Tamilnadu......we are proud of our Telugu heritage which is the core of South Indian traditional attire.......then there are Pochampally pattu sarees, Dharmavaram Pattu Sarees, Gadwal pattu sarees to name a few, all belonging to now 2 Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana........the earliest silk(pattu) sarees were Kanchi pattu sarees originated in Andhra Pradesh which are older than Banaras silk sarees..........
No, It's totally wrong. The silk sarees of Kanchipuram are made by a community called Sengunthar (Senguntha Mudhaliyar) which is a tamil community. Don't spread fake news...
@@இராம்ராஜ் I am not spreading fake news........it is a fact that they originated in AndhraPradesh and moved to Tamilnadu.......know the history properly.........Saligers and Devangas are the ancestors to present day Kanchi pattu saree weavers and these two groups are from the Telugu speaking community of Andhrapradesh.............in Telugu we also refer to them as salivaadu or Salevaadu or saalevaadu which means a weaver........Saliger = Salivaadu.......
@@winluck9087 Might be in telugu. Not here in Tamilnadu. I am from a Weaver family in Kanchipuram. I belong to Sengunthar community. Almost 80% of the Kanchi silk saree weavers are from my community. And the remaining 20% is from various communities like Vanniyar, Pillai, Muslims, etc. Have u been to Kanchipuram...? Without knowing anything u r saying Kanchi history. Silk is not new to Tamilnadu. Silk sarees are here from the Sangam time. U people always steal others history. Cheap... Devanga and Sali might be Silk weavers of Andhra. But not in Kanchipuram. Don't think that you telugus are everything...

Yes there are telugu people like Naidu, Reddy, Chetty here in Kanchipuram. But not the weaving castes. Bcoz u have this and that pattu saree doesn't mean u own silk sarees. Every place has that FYI. And Arni silk sarees are also exclusively made by Senguntha Mudhaliyar community... Telugus are the worst ever people who steal every other's history... I will say this way. U golties learnt weaving from Tamils for ur survival...
