Emo/Scene kids evolved into hipsters because they were essentially a tacky version of Goth with cartoon t shirts, garish colours and general weirdness. The emo music was what I was a fan of, not the fashion sense. I really do hope emo music makes more of a comeback.

You're so right that about taking an hour of self-care every morning. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a Goth, but I was clinically depressed so doing all the make-up required far too much effort. Instead I just wore a lot of disorganized black and slapped on thick eye-liner. I was also too depressed to find real Goth friends to hang out with, so I mostly wore this alone in my room at home.
