Had a Cobra 2 in 81, rebuilt motor with high performance parts i.e. Boss 302 heads, duel springs,Holley 600 solud lifters, Crane fireball cam, and Richmond 411 gear. It would do 100 in 3rd gear, 12.2 in the qtr
I had two of them back in the day. My 75 coupe had the gutless 4 banger, but at least it was a stick. We ended up selling it to my uncle. My 74 hatchback had the V-6 (also with a stick). There was a world of difference between the two engines. I liked them.
It gas ddesigned to complete with the jap crap at the time. Think datsun etc. All low hp buzz boxes. In north america it got hate cause we though it was supposed to be a boss 302, mach 1 not an econo box. Look at the new mach E what an ugly turd that is. Most people that really hate these are guys that only like old 60s muscle and that is it. I kinda like the ugly 70s stuff to be different. Some want to see the same ole same ole.
Personally, I wish they used the Maverick as the basis of the 74 mustang and the mustang 2 had been the new and improved pinto but that's just me.... And yes I have a real deal 78 King Cole in my garage.
I owned a black King Cobra and thought that was really cool. Unfortunately we all know that it was really a low power Mustang with a nice paint and decal package. At that time smog and mileage requirements killed performance. Now I look back and see how underpowered the King was. But at that time, it's what we could get.
Reminds me of my dad , with the hand thing. I always acted like I didn't see it but I think that meant that was enough, or let off. You've put alot of work into it and it's paying off nicely. Hey, also, my dad is gone now and I miss him dearly, even his hand gestures. So cherish all the time you can with your dad. Stay safe. Cheers😊
Alot of people don't have anything good to say about king Cobras. I always have like them and had a friend in highschool that had one with all the ginger bread on it like the king Cobra on the tv series charlies angles! His was black and gold, he swapped out the smog low compression 120hp 302 and replaced it with a mild built thump thump cam 351 Windsor with 410 gears! That did the trick!
Oh I'm sure that helped quite a lot! lol My car ended up weighing a little more than 2,800 pounds, so an Iron small block car is probably around 2,900-3,000 and that's still super light and that's the perfect base to build a rocket!
it was a 2016 (not sure on year) BMW 340I. Not exactly sure but I'm pretty sure they're twin turbo inline 6's. That particular one was tuned and on E85, it's a fast car for sure especially for having 4 doors!
I own my favorite Mustang, a 77& a hard T roof. They are excellent restomod candidates. I'm going with a Cleveland and a 5 speed, I have a 5 lug swap to complete that comes with a Versailles 9 inch rear.
A guy I went to High School with in 86 had a white one with the blue stripes. Had the Cobra II logo under the door. It was a Pro Street car. Huge steamrollers under the back with wheelie bars. Weld Drag Lite wheels with the holes around the edge. Was awesome.
Definitely was! I have an updated video taking them for a ride with the new supercharger! You should check it out! th-cam.com/video/lk8sD2YJORg/w-d-xo.html
So I have a narrowed 9" that I made specifically for these RTS's but the tire size was a 275/60r15 which is a 28" tire but I did have it raised in the rear so it wouldn't rub, it's a very tight fit lol
Reminds my of mine, we built a 302 using 67 289HO heads, big cam and as much meat that would fit under the rear wheel wells. It needed a better transmission, hooked up good but wound out before the quarter mile. A lot of fun but one winter night out of nowhere popped a snowmobile, hit the breaks hard my low bumper actually connected with the sleds at 55mph and next I was sliding backwards down the road in a cloud of steam. Both the one day old sled and my car were totaled. It died primer gray. The sleeper.
If you want the front end to come off the ground replace the 5mph front crash bumper with a hollow fiberglass one. Best part about that car is its weight, its crazy light.
A lot of cutting and welding lol I cut the rails off and the firewall and widened them 3” and lowered them 3”. It could possibly fit with out modifying the rails but I never tried it
Man that thing looks like it pulls like a freight train, and your dad was the rev limiter when he was with you that was too funny but it was really cool that he rode in it and wanted to go fast but I think it was a bit faster than he was expecting it to be 😂 that was really cool to see everyone's facial expressions , you could tell that they enjoyed it, I wish I lived closer, I would definitely want to go for a ride in it to see how fast it is because in that light car i bet it gets really fun/scary really fast. What's the fastest that you have been in it so far? You ought to pick a few races like your brother does , I bet your channel will blow up if you do. I put some caltracs on my pinto and I have been trying to get a aluminium driveshaft for my car and it's supposed to be here tomorrow so I can drive it again finally. Ive also got some better valve springs and going to run 1.7 roller rockers on it so that I can rev this thing out a little more and make peak power a little higher than 5700 , the springs that I got sent the first time wasn't what I thought I was getting and ended up being some comp cam knock offs, so these pac springs should do the trick, well they are under the trick flow name but in the add it says that Pac made them so if i can raise the curve up 800-1200 rpm that will be a significant gain in peak power. But your car is badass man when you left the guys recording you in the beginning you can tell that thing was pulling hard and getting out of town. That was really cool gifts that the Ford guy gave you that would definitely go in a frame
It's insane, it's as fast as I thought it would be but at the same time it exceeds my expectations. I'm really getting the tune dialed but there's still a lot of meat left on the bone so to speak. So far, it's been 11.72 at 119.8 and coincidentally that was also against my brother lol I want to do those videos as well, but I'll do more of a single round robin video with a couple of guys. The problem is there aren't a ton of guys to race around here and he's raced mostly all of them. I keep talking smack to him about doing a video with me, but I know he wouldn't wanna post a video where he loses ;)
@@dugganracecraft 🤣😂🤣 yeah it would make him look bad but if you could get him to and of course you will win then all of his subs will move on over to your channel 😂. It looks stupid fast on camera so I know it person its intense and you're right there's still a shit ton left in it. That thing is too badass and you're going to have to just put a toilet instead of a seat so that your passengers will be able to just let it go in the toilet instead of your seat 🤣 I wish I was closer so I could get to ride in it
Are you talking 69-70 or 12-13 Boss 302? Either way would be badass! I had all the 4v 351C parts to do an OG Boss engine but decided to go coyote instead, it would be very cool though!
I got a mild built 302 swap 1984 Datsun(was a 4 cylinder 1.8)....the over head cam V8's would of required to much cutting under the hood to install....
The factory BorgWarner t-85 couldn't handle the power of a stock 302. It Should have had a Ford top loader or BorgWarner Super t-10 from the factory. 78 Cobra was a 1000 pounds lighter than a 78 Camaro. The Camaro was a way better handling car. I owned a 78 king cobra it was a cool car but did have a small car feel to it.

That’s a pretty stout combo!
to all the haters of the mustang II it was a great car designed in the late 70s fuel crunch and government regulations.
Couldn’t agree more!
It wasn't "designed" to be anything but a PINTO! 🤣
I had two of them back in the day. My 75 coupe had the gutless 4 banger, but at least it was a stick. We ended up selling it to my uncle. My 74 hatchback had the V-6 (also with a stick). There was a world of difference between the two engines. I liked them.

Most definitely! It was average for what it was back then and they’re definitely a light platform to do whatever you want with!
You done exactly what I always wanted to do with that year of a Mustang..You went above and beyond with it 👍
You should see it now! I swapped a supercharger onto it and now it’s going low 9’s at nearly 150 MPH all while keeping factory drivability.
Cool little hot rod. Nice build!
Thanks Wade!
Buddy put a 455 Olds with Mondello cam, heads and a tunnel ram with dual dominators in one of these back in the late 80's. LoL it was fast.
I bet that was a wild ride!

I ALWAYS liked the II better than the fox body because it looked more like Mustang. VERY COOL project
Thanks brother! I recently supercharged it as well, you should check out my newer videos!
Agreed. The foxbody looks like an ecoturd. This is a real stang
@@fuxkausernameIn reality the mustang 2 was an ecoturd lol
The fox is a better handling and easier to mod. They took away the mustang horse for years during the fox days.

Aww yes! I was anxiously awaiting this video and it was worth the wait!!!

I bet it did..... Made your Dad live his youth for a brief moment.... Amazing.... I won't forget it... I'm glad you got to experience it.😉
nice!, what size of tire are you running on the back in this vid?, is rear axle moved forward at all?
Currently its a 275/60r15 which is a 28" tall tire, but no the front and rear axles are in their factory locations!
That blue car next to you when you nailed the gas pulled on you. Was waiting for you to pass em up. Where did it go?
They ended up turning off!

Not sure about the year but it's a mid 2010's BMW 340i AWD on E85, it GETS DOWN lol
you had me at cobra II, im thinking about maybe doing a circuit racing or road racing it.
That would be a blast!

Oh yeah I remember you! Your mustangs still looking great as always, I was going to use those mufflers on this car coincidentally lol
I've got a 76 cobra 2 running a 357 Windsor. How did you get that coyote in to fit thanks Sharman racing
A lot of cutting and welding lol I cut the rails off and the firewall and widened them 3” and lowered them 3”. It could possibly fit with out modifying the rails but I never tried it
You can fit anything you want in it, some guys put 385 series in them.
How do u lift the front end of this car?
I'm assuming you mean jacking it up? I just run the jack off the crossmember! Even the factory cross member is okay to jack on.
I like to hit the gas pedal to lift the front end off the ground lol
Hot damn Sean!!! That thing is a bloody rocket, excellent job!!
It’s been a lot of fun so far!
WTH happened to that blue car that was beside you at the light at 8:44??
