Dark Christmas is the highly anticipated second volume of Tarja’s 2017 album "From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas)" - a surprise hit and on-going strong seller. This time, Tarja has added a haunting twist to classic Christmas hits and carols with the addition of a children's choir. For those who want to embrace the holiday spirit while exploring a more mysterious side of the season, Dark Christmas is the perfect album.
With enchanting and captivating renditions of well-known Christmas carols, such as Wham’s “Last Christmas”, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime”, classics such as “Jingle Bells”, “Frosty The Snowman” and “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”, as well as Tarja’s brand new original song “Dark Christmas”, the likewise named album will be available digitally, on Digipack, LP and as a limited black-splatter LP.
The album releases everywhere on November 10.

Great interview. Tarja is such an amazing human being. Her laughter is infectious. Tarja's Christmas albums are epic just like Outlanders and all Tarja's other albums too.

Thanks for the wonderful interview. I was also introduced to metal by Nightwish, but now I'm a big fan of Tarja. I think she has already surpassed them.
I love Outlanders and I'm getting obsessed with the new Dark Christmas. It's a big step up from the first Dark Christmas (which I love), much more sinister.
I am grateful to live in Europe and the country she visits regularly. I am excited for her Christmas concert.
And I'm very glad that they are fine with Marko and have started working together and finally hear directly from her that there will be an Outlanders 2.
Her music is more versatile than music of Nightwish these days. Nightwish perform the same old song for many years.
She sure does put out some great stuff!

My favourite Christmas songs are those not so happy ones and the not so commercial ones😅 so I love Tarja's Dark Christmas album concept. I know the new one will be amazing! And I have seen that a lot of people are excited about it😁

It is true that even if you know the darkness is coming every year here in the North, it still hits you in the face😅 Though when snow comes, it helps a lot.
I don't understand what that woman is made of. Exactly as you say: she releases album after album, so different and yet brilliant: rocky In The Raw, ethereal Outlanders and gothic Dark Christmas...

I just subscribed to your channel because of this interview. Great to hear that she is going on tour with Marko again and that there will be another Outlander album in the future. For me Tarja has changed from a singer of a great band to a phenomenal solo artist. Her voice is absolutely unique. When she sings you immediately know it is her.

Tarja has an incredible voice, I fell in love with her the first time I heard her. She is totally different and creative. That's why I like her songs. Although I'm hooked on an app, I still can't sing any of the songs.

I went to Switzerland to see the show with Tarja and Marko on the same bill, it was amazing when Marko came back to the stage during Tarja's set to do Phantom, thanks for the wonderful interview.
So awesome that they do concerts together with Marco too. Nice and warm interesting interview. For me it was in 1998 ... "Sacrament of Wilderness"....
I do have to say that I preferred the more traditional/religious Christmas songs Tarja picked for Spirits and Ghosts than the ones for Dark Christmas because they are “the road less travelled”. I mean.... Last Christmas, jingle bell rock... all i want for Christmas?.... that will be one tough endeavour... However, so far she has done the impossible which is making these jolly, overplayed tunes into something palatable and even beautiful. I am very curious for the one she composed herself, but also for the more traditional/religious ones First Noel, O Holy Night Side and Angels we have heard on high.
Not to mention how she is always bringing something new and innovative with each work. Outlanders and the fusion of rap/electro/rock and the whole revamping of traditional Christmas songs with quality orchestral arrangements accompanied with visuals for each piece is another step outside the box. Not that Tarja was ever in one.
Overall a great interview that gave Tarja the chance to be her wonderful self; there could have been a more in-depth discussion of the individual songs in the album (knowledge of the previous one might have also been helpful) and also, instead of hearing about Nightwish again, there could have been more questions about what's in store in the performances with Marko: old songs or perhaps new ones? I would love for there to be new songs since they both have moved on from Nightwish. Also no mention of Rocking Heels, which is another amazing album put out by Tarja this year. I enjoyed the interview but just putting this out there for an even better one next time. Thank you!

And tarja, don't worry: since i grew up and started to pay bills for electricity and heating on my own i started to love light and warm weather much more, so now i'm a beach metalhead as well 😂😂😂
Yeah, this is actually crazy. I was always a winter person, and I hated summer, because it was too damn hot most of the time. For me the optimal temperature was around -20 to +20 degrees celsius. But now when I'm older, I have started to hate cold weather, and I don't like too much snow either. I have come to a conclusion, that my mind has turned against winter, because I have to pay heating myself (and plot the snow from my yard). When I was younger, we always lived in those concrete apartments which had a central heating, and it was included in your rent. I still don't like too hot weather, but because of air source heat pumps, I can now cool down my house and sleep in the summer, so I don't mind if it's a bit warmer outside.
Tarja just lunh to master piece in 2023. I really love Outlanders but this new dark christmans still in another level. The tears dance in my face when i heard Wonderful Cristimans time.
I follow her and this is the first album she use child'dchoir it's a really master piece.

Have my CD on the way. Thanks Tarja! Definitely having a melancholic holiday this year. Both my parents are now gone and my girlfriend went suddenly and unexpectedly last spring. It's oddly comforting listening to darker music during these times.

When will the Bluray-audio Dolby Atmos version of Dark Christmas be released? Right now the only versions available is a regular stereo LP or CD 💿

I always thought that she hated Australia. It would be really strange to see her in my neck of the woods if its ever going to happen. No dark Xmas's in Australia during summer thats for sure. She would have to come in July. But somehow I don't believe it.
