Wonderful stories. Every single one of those Round-the-World Single Handed Racers are absolutely Amazing!!! So cool to see so many women racing single handed as well.
Hey Andrew, Best sailing media website on the net...well done. Your mix of content, objective reporting and genuinely nice style is much appreciated. Cheers
What a fantastic presenter you are Matt. Great program and great insights. Still as always amazed by the round the world racing (of all types) but AC by far my favourite. I enjoy the sailing tech as a absolute favourite. Well done. Keep it up. Simon, Christchurch.
Matt - simply awesome stuff and we are fellow travellers in so many ways. Ex-UK, home overlooks Coromandel Harbour, love sailing and ride motorcycles (IAM Examiner). If you're ever round this way again, will happily feed you and take you snapper fishing! Keep those great videos coming...
Being new to watching and paying attention to sail event, especially the Prada AC event, this is a fantastic “channel”. Enjoying the topics and explanations being given. Proposing a future topic: How are the new AC75’s sailed. I have watched the episode showing the explanation of the mechanics. I am curious as to the role and responsibilities of each of the crew. Thanks Matt and Team.
As I recall, the disputed San Diego match took place in 1988. I took a 9' inflatable out to watch. I ended up sandwiched between two gin palaces which towered over our thing. My lady friend spent a lot of time fending off with her legs while I watched the racing through binoculars. It was of course a farce, not a race. The most impressive thing, while nursing the outboard back into San Diego Bay low on fuel, was the return of the cat which, with hardly a breath of wind in the harbour, was easily making I would estimate 10-15 knots, a glimpse of the future.
Well done on focussing on the women in the Vendee. But please mind the audio levels - the music was way too high compared to the VO. I don't know if you do your own editing, but if you do, then consider doing it with headphones on. Also, try establishing a rule of thumb for how much lower the music track should go during VOs. A lot of people use 20dB as a guideline, but I personally think that's some times even a bit too loud. But look at your levels from that segment and then drop them another 5-10dB or possibly more. Also, I think Steven's(?) levels are lower than yours, so his needs to be raised, too.
This is the second of his videos I've watched where he says click on the video above and raises his hand and there's nothing there. And no that wasn't a new creature discovered for the first time. It was just the longest version of a known animal. Comparing it to a blue whale is absurd. I've got a ball of string that's longer than a blue whale. So what? And since it's segmented, it's no more a single animal then is a coral reef.
@@mitchand9 I suspect he means some of the content, which looks a lot like branded content. In an ideal world, Matt wouldn't need to include this and it's hard to stay an indepedent journalist once you start taking money from players in the field, but I guess it pays some of the bills. If I am mistaken, Matt should clear it up in future videos. But this one is not as bad as one a few videos back which was basically one long compilation of "press releases".
Many hours of work go into creating a 27 minutes video like this. It is only fair that content creators try to recuperate a few pennies by sticking in ads. Ads that in most cases can be skipped after five seconds. People who complain should keep the old proverb "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" in mind. You get this content for free.
@@martin3203 You call it ads, but ads are obvious and this is not. Even though YT is not a traditional platform and the rules are out of effect, journalists should be transparent and let viewers know when content is paid for. Especially for the sake of their own integrity. Just a small banner would do. I would respect and understand that.
@@AntiVaganza I replied to Celso's comment "Just to _[sic]_ many adverts all the way". I don't believe there is much evidence for paid promotion is this video, and Matthew doesn't strike me as a person who would fail to declare branded content.
Matt, you are the David Attenborough of sailing. Always a pleasure to listen to your voice and watch your informative videos. Cheers & Fair Winds.
Totally agree !
Excellent content as always. Thank you, Matt.

Matt, I could watch you do a show every day. Especially now, during the Vendee globe. : )

While in Auckland you should come sailing with the locals.

butt why only some county are doing the race?
Leaning to sail seams rather discouraging when you see just 2 sails needing 200 different ropes just to manage them just to start.
they priced small builders out of the waterfront and there's good mobiking around Coro
How the British team are going to get back into the AC and start winning a few race’s

Please return to proper sail boats, then people will watch it again, and perhaps more countries will enter and make it a proper competition.
More people are watching it now than ever. Just not the same people.
