    This is more like mixed media sculpture. Your ability to imagine solutions to creating the world in miniature is something else. I bet generating scenes in boxes with peepholes would sell as unique art pieces. Your videos are expertly made and edited. Thanks!

    Bravo and thank you I have been trying to build a hedge on my set and using Laken sprigs and having other ideas have never worked. This is pure genius after 20 years of trial and error, thank you.

    Peter Leggett really helped me when I made a silly train video many years ago. Especially tricks in mixing scales to create depth in a scene. Imagine a world without spray adhesive.

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      oh close!! I had a couple people suggest it was under the fiber as I lifted it... I went back and looked at the video again and I can see how you might think that because there is a lump of coconut fiber that looks like it could be the dog as I lift the coconut fiber up from the table!

    Love the Replicated Idaho State Police Car ... Looks nice. ( As A Youth Driver of the Era just interesting note.... BTW not nit picking on your cool Diorama n super nice model Railroad Video and skills n tips. Anyway Circa 75-78 ISP. Used the 75 Dodge Monocos they were Larger n Heavier n Handle The Higher Speeds Sometime needed in field duty better than the later body smaller n lighter 76-78 Fury/Monocos used in many City Areas by then. ISP Was Stitching over to Chevy Caprices for Patrol due to being heavier car n the 454 being continued available. Where as by 80 Chrysers 440 interceptors were no longer Available
    I'm curious are you also a Idaho Resident ??? Again only was making note of interest
    I drove 2 -69 Roadrunneres from Valley County to Boise n Back n to Payette on her ghways 55 & 95 at 75-115 MPH. Ocassionall saw Stare Troopers running opposite Direction in the Black w White diagonal stripes w the Gold Idaho on door same as you model shows

  • @robbennett1965
    @robbennett1965 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    As usual Luke- very informative. Thanks for posting. I like the use of basket liner- I have obtained some rubberized horsehair but the liner may be better for scruffy bushes and other vegetation along embankments- I will have to give it a go. I can actually get these at Lowes, here in the US. I'll report back in our next layout update!
    Just curious- do you have a layout? Would love to see it if you do- must be spectacular!

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Rob,
      I am in the process of building a layout, unfortunately I don't own my house, I'm just renting and building a proper layout is a little difficult for me because I know I'll probably be moving soon! However I am building a small modular layout that I know I can easily pack up and move around with.
      I watched you latest update, you layout looks absolutely fantastic! I actually thought of you when I was making this video because I know you plan to do a row of houses on the hill above the track and I thought a hedge might look good there?
      Did you have any luck with getting the road texture you wanted using the sponge technique?
      Looking forward to you progress :)
      Cheers
      Luke

    • @robbennett1965
      @robbennett1965 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did paint the road per your technique. May not have had the ideal sponge. It looks okay, and once I weather and stripe it it should be good to go. BTW- I picked up some "Coco" liner at Lowes- will be trying it very soon! Thanks again for the continuing great tips Luke!

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice, I found I got quite different results depending on the sponge! I tried it with a makeup sponge and it was terrible (not enough definition), I found more open and airy sponges worked a little better. Good luck with the hedges, the coconut fiber is pretty easy stuff to work with, and it's quite cheap so if you bugger it up it's no big loss, you can just try again :)

      Good idea, I'll have to add that to my list of tutorial videos to produce. I'll do some experiments and see what ideas I can come up with.

    Hello Luke. Your content is amazing. Just a simple question. Did you have to raise the surface where the house and front yard are sitting to the same level of the sidewalk, or is at the same level of the road? Thanks!

    This may have been asked already but how is the small trellis made? Also, where did the gates and posts at the drive-way come from?

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually all from the same manufacturer 'Auhagen' and the trellis and the driveway gate are in the same package. if you search eBay for 'Auhgen Fences and Gates' you should be able to find them.

    These turned out pretty nice. What is your thoughts about using parsley or some other seasonings for leafs?

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks :) I guess you could use parsley as a substitute, the only thing would be the parsley would be very brittle once completely dry. You'd probably need to seal the hedge with a spraying of scenic glue or dull coat to prevent the parsley from breaking away? Although I really don't know? It might turn out great or it might not be so good? Time for an experiment :) Hope that helps...

      I read a few years ago people were using parsley and oregano as leafs on their trees. I tried it once but it seemed like they were too big.

    Just a quick question what scale do u use, I have some 1/35 and 1/24 scale military armor and race cars, and would like to make a diorama could u do a video on one of theses scales?

    • @BoulderCreekRailroad
      @BoulderCreekRailroad  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I work in HO scale, I don't have plans at this stage to build 1/35th scale just yet. I'm making scenery for my model railroad. However most of the techniques can easily be applied to larger scales as well. These hedges would look great in larger scales, just make the hedge a bit taller and use all the same products.
      Cheers
