Wow! What a splendid video! As one who is still having trouble with the ON/OFF switch, your graphics are unbelievable! The Sun has reinforced my view that I will only cruise on a ship no larger than 2k guest capacity. The ships are getting just too large. Service has gone out the window! Thanks for all your fine work!

Thank you for the feedback - I really appreciate it! If 2k is your ideal ship size then Holland America is definitely worth considering - their newer ships are a bit over that but not much. I really enjoyed my cruise on Rotterdam earlier this year in Norway and can't wait to try them again.

Thanks for the tips..we go 10/14 for a 5 nighter...you forgot to mention that the Sun Princess's standard balcony cabins BLOW away those terrible Royal class cabins! When my wife & I entered our Regal Princess cabin in 2015, I thought they gave us the wrong cabin..where's the sofa couch? We were standing there with 2 carry ons & a beach bag..also my wife said , "where do you sit & eat?" I actually went down to Guest Services and told them I think they gave me the wrong cabin..they checked and the agent said, "no, you're in the right cabin"...I asked, "where's the sofa?..where do we eat?"...one gal leaned over & said, "you DON'T eat in those cabins"...even the 'Premium" deluxe cabins only have a small 2 seater loveseat, which I had on another Regal cruise..that was awful, too..could not lie down- had to put my legs over the arm rest..Enchanted also no couch.....and those curtained showers are so cheap & slimy..ALL cabins we were on ( RCI, NCL, HAL, Celebrity, Disney & Carnival ) ALL had couches & glass showers....SOOOO nice to see the Sun Princess cabins with GLASS encloses showers- I shave in the shower, and on Royal class ships, it was a mess...and that couch is so nice...100% improvement in just the standard balcony cabins, and welcome Princess into the 21st century!!

Agree - the cabins are a huge step forward. It’s a shame they’ve taken a step or two back throughout most of the rest of the ship.

I’m used to the balcony staterooms on the Royal Class ships, Caribee Deck 10, with a larger balcony partially covered/uncovered. Are there any decks like that on the Sun Princess? Thanks for your video. Very helpful

Thank you for the feedback - glad to hear! Yes there seem to be lots of larger balconies on decks 10 and 11 that are either "Deluxe Balcony" or "Premium Deluxe Balcony". Some Cabana cabins also seem to have larger balconies but many open into a semi-private sun deck. The deck plans give you a good sense of which cabins have larger balconies than others: www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=SU&version=3

Thanks for the guide… I may have to watch it a few more times to let it all sink in. I board on October 26th so hopefully the park 19 deconstruction will all be finished by then. As always, thanks for a great video!

I'll be boarding on the 26th as well 🎉 for the slot tournament. This will be my 2nd sailing with Sun as my first was the March 19th Mediterranean sailing.

Sorry if I made it more confusing! They just re-opened deck 19 so I was able to take a look - Most of Park 19 is gone except for the massive frame that supported everything. There’s a small netted space that looks like a pickleball court with the lounge and hammocks I showed in the video.

Park 19 area is open now. Not much there currently but you can walk and jog around the track.

They definitely took that Excel platform and made it their own unique thing for better and for worse. I'll be on the Sun next year so I am definitely curious. I have not had any experience with any other Excel ships.

I think they tried to make it their own but it appears that the restrictions/limitations of the platform have created a lot of problems that won't be easy to fix.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation:
00:00:10 *🔄 The layout of the Sun Princess is very different compared to other Princess ships, creating a steep learning curve for experienced cruisers.*
00:00:45 *🗺️ Key services like the guest services and spa have been relocated to unusual spots, often surrounded by cabins, making navigation difficult.*
00:01:27 *📐 The ship is 23% larger than Royal class ships, and venues like the Piazza and Lido have shifted to new decks, changing the layout.*
00:02:23 *⚓ A new multi-deck embarkation bridge allows for flexible boarding and disembarking at different ports from the same area on deck 4.*
00:02:53 *🔢 Cabin decks are now identified by numbers only, instead of names, removing some of the ship’s previous character.*
00:03:21 *⬆️ A new elevator system directs passengers to specific elevators based on their desired floor, reducing wait times and crowding.*
00:03:48 *🚫 Dead ends on some decks require passengers to navigate up or down multiple floors to reach different venues.*
00:04:18 *🌟 Sanctuary collection guests have access to exclusive amenities, such as private sundecks, pools, and dining areas.*
00:05:16 *🍽️ The buffet has moved to deck 9 and is surrounded by additional food stations, creating a more comprehensive dining area in the Piazza.*
00:05:45 *☕ Specialty coffee and gelato options are spread across decks 7 and 17, increasing variety but potentially causing confusion.*
00:07:13 *🥂 Most bars are now located in open spaces within the Piazza, except for a few small hidden spots like Good Spirits and O'Malley's.*
00:07:44 *🏊 The dome, an air-conditioned sundeck during the day, becomes a performance venue at night, but its use is limited due to setup requirements.*
00:08:42 *🏗️ The family activity complex Park 19 was closed due to safety certification issues and is being converted into a sports court.*
00:09:40 *🎭 The main theater is the smallest on any Princess ship, causing crowding for shows and requiring early arrival to get seats.*
00:10:10 *🎶 The dome also hosts entertainment events, but demand exceeds seating capacity, making early arrival a must for good views.*
00:10:40 *🏢 Guest services are now located one deck below the Piazza, making it difficult to find and navigate due to limited space.*
