Nice. This was on my list of things to try when I stick an NVMe drive in a system currently running from an SSD. My worry was that it wouldn't clone from a larger to a smaller drive but your vid showed my exact use case so thanks for that :)
I checked this software out after Macrium Reflect stopped its free version. It can create a rescue bootable USB thumb drive. Which is all I need for backups and restores. Agreed, it is great software. But I will keep using Macrium Reflect as long as my hardware is supported with the last free version. Old habits are hard to break.
_Leo has a Disk Cloning Backup & Partition Resizing Software suite!?!?_ 😯 *Who knew?* Thanks, Mike. You're a gem. 👍🏼💎 (P/S: It's nice to see somebody who *_doesn't_* have Linus's overpriced screwdriver layin on their countertop. Good on ya. 😆)
@@mikesunboxing Wanted to give an update just in case other have the same issue. Tried cloning a 1TB NVME to a 2TB NVME twice. Both times the cloning got to 99% in about 12 minutes and there it stopped both times. I waited for over an hour past those 12 minutes, but it never finished the clone. I had to turn my PC off. When I did that, it corrupt my bcd and I ended up having to rebuild my EFI. This might not be for the faint of heart.
Excellent piece of software to keep those all important backups up to date.....just in case. not seen this one before and judging by your review it looks slick. thanks Mike and Kath.
I checked it out and it works quite well. Only gripe I have is that it's not seeing my second SSD at all. Also using the recovery disk to backup or restore could have been done better - because there's no networking right off the start. You have to go to network settings first, so this is quite inconvenient. I mean it's free but there are better options.
Thanks Hasleo seems good software. In past other people were preferring Macrium and mine favorite was AOMEI Pro 4.6 old version, but now i love Aomei and Hasleo, both are good.
I think I understand. In my case, operating system and programs are on drive C, and data on D. So for a complete clone image, it sounds like I should use Sytem clone, correct ?
I did it just like you did, and the unallocated part in the layout stayed unallocated after cloning, and now i don't have access to my full space. You didn't mention how to allocate that space to the windows partition?
I used this to back up my important folders and files to a usb drive. It created a back up file on the drive ok, but when I tried to restore it the software wouldn't recognise it even though it said the backup had been successful.
@@mikesunboxing The file did have a file extension which I can't remember (I've since formatted the disc) but couldn't be opened by anything on my pc. It was a large file (39gb) which took over one and a half hours to create. Maybe that had something to do with it?
A more in-depth study would have been more helpful. I can find all that on my own but I think the viewers want more comprehensive assistance. That's a big ask I guess.
Brilliant, I have downloaded it, but not used as yet.. That is amazingly fast, I only use Samsung NVME drives and Samsung software is very slow at cloning.. Cheers Mike & Kath..
Wow totally impressed! My operating system is currently on 1Tb nvme which I partitioned so half is for media. My problem, or so I thought, was replacing this with 2TB nvme and having to go thru the hassle of reinstalling all my apps! So am I to understand this will transfer my os without the need to reinstall! Brilliant! Do i trf each partition separately as would want to keep os in 500gb but increase 2nd partition to 1.5Tb? Great timing so thank you Mike and Kath 👍
@@mikesunboxing I used a different utility to expand the drive to its full capacity, and it’s a seriously impressive cloning tool-unbelievably fast. One downside, though, is that it doesn’t support USB to SATA cloning. If you try to plug in a drive via USB to clone it from a laptop before installing, it won’t let you. But when it does work, it clones ridiculously fast.

yes habits are very hard to break, i totally agree there
Can you still download the good old free version somewhere?

Yeah definitely one to use for simple backup and cloning duties

I have used and known about this tool since it was first released!
it is pretty good, and FREE
Yep I know!
Thanks!
thanks for watching
Hasleo is a company with a good rep. Their UEFI tweaking tools are excellent so its not like they came from nowhere with this. Free is great 🙂
Looks like an excellent bit of software, which I am definitely going to be trying out. Cheers Mike. 👍
it is quick easy and free, can't ask for much more than that
Greats
What is the difference between the system clone & disk clone?
sometimes the system had be on multiple or single partition, disk clone covers the entire disk, but not necessarily the whole computer
I think I understand. In my case, operating system and programs are on drive C, and data on D. So for a complete clone image, it sounds like I should use Sytem clone, correct ?
@@kd-CarvingAway Correct, yes. That will back up the hidden recovery and system drives as well.

in disk management highlight the active partition and choose expand
What should be the capacity of the USB which is used to make a bootable?
any size will be okay

that is odd, can you explore the file on the USB? what file extension has it got if any

Works for Windows 10 too Mike?
Yea it seems to use shadow volume copy so will work right back to 7 I think
One of the previous comments stated that you can't clone a system drive to a USB drive, is that correct?
i believe this may be correct, but i have not tried it myself

Yeah it won't let me do it through usb which is both stupid and annoying as i'm trying to do it for my laptop so by usb is the only to do it.
yeah i have heard this a few times, maybe try disk genius instead?
Did you expand the main partition, it looked like it wanted to pack them tight and leave the rest empty
no i left it as it was

it didn't use the full disk capacity. All of the unallocated stayed unallocated.
you can expand it now or later

This won't clone my main drive to an SSD plug into a USB like I can with Acronis
is acronis free? if not that is a good reason to pay for extra software features
