Genius! After spending HOURS of time watching MANY confusing videos, I was finally able to clone my SSD to a new NVME M.2 in minutes! Thank you very much! My C:\ drive was 98% full and I was running out of time!
just did this using this app and its worked absolutely perfectly. Thank you for making such an easy to follow video. Moved Windows from a very old intel 60GB SSD to a samsung Evo 970 2TB
Thanks for posting this. After cloning with two other programs...free and paid...I still couldn't get my laptop to boot. Then I found this video last night and tried this and within an hour or so, I'm up and running. Thanks again.
After struggling with some other free software, I came across this video. Simple and easy to follow and I successfully cloned my HDD to my NVMe! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much Mike for this tutorial. I just completed upgrading my laptop from a 500 Gb SSD to a 2 Tb SSD. I followed you video and the process worked like a charm. I bought a USB enclosure for the 2 TB drive and plugged in into the USB C port on my laptop. Once the clone was completed, I turned off the power and opened my laptop and swapped out the 500 Gb drive for the 2 Tb drive. I powered up the computer and nothing changed except I now have 1 1/2 Tb more space on the hard drive. I watched several tutorials on cloning a hard drive, but yours was the most straight forward and easy to understand. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for this! My neighbour has asked me to look at his 12 yr old machine and I'll be using this to migrate a knackered HDD to a SSD to prolong its life!
Update Mike... I used this software to go from a 250GB nvme boot drive to a 1TB boot drive. Worked perfectly. 👍 Thanks for walking me through this. Take care guys. Cheers
Disk Genius worked perfectly. 1 tb ssd to 1 tb m.2 nvme (in an external USB 3.1 enclosure). 800 gigs took 30 mins. Did the hot method, surprised it worked as this is usually a problem when cloning.
Thanks Mike, really easy to follow and just the right level of detail given the amount of options that the tool gives. Its a shame that the companies that make these keep dropping the clone option from the free option but I cant blame them, I cant remember ever upgrading to a paid version except maybe 15 years ago on a data recovery product. My own clone on an old PC took about 4 hours as I was copying about 500gb sata ssd to 2tb sata ssd via USB using the hot option.
Thanks for this video Mike. I've wasted a lot of time recently trying free versions of software only to find that the clone feature has been disabled. So this program will help, might download it before they change it. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Mike! I was able to migrate from a SanDisk SSD to a Crucial P3 Plus NVMe. This video is very helpful with a very detailed explanation. Great job!
Thankyou so much. Just transfered my c: to a slightly bigger 256gb m.2 (was 128gb ssd) and all went well. Thanks for being so clear and concise in your video 😊
I came across Disk genius recently when researching an M.2 migration from 500GB to a gen 4 1TB. I have been using Macrium for some time to do backups but as support is ending soon I was looking for an alternative. Being retired I needed a cheap option 😂. I can't believe how quickly DG did the clone and changed the boot sequence. WIN 11 and several games and all my programs done in under 10 minutes. Highly recommended. Thanks for the video it's covered some of the options I haven't explored yet.
Just so you know, if you have Macrium v7.3 free edition, it still works. Just disable auto-update. Although, you can still update it to version 8 before disabling updates.
that was awesome, my new SSD drive is suppose to arrive tmrw and I've been looking for a easy/reliable cloning software -- thanks again for posting I will definately watch again lol

Great video ! Id noticed that Macrium had done the update to put their services behind a paywall so Ive been looking for an alternative. Not heard of DiskGenius before so I'll be getting that bad boy installed. Thanks Lady Kath and Furry Face Mike !
Disk Genius Free works very well and has a ton of partition tools built in. Now that Macrium and MiniTool no longer support free transfers (cloning) it's a great program to have. PLUS it will transfer to a smaller drive as long as there is enough space on the target drive to accept the transfer. No more equal or larger drive size required message blocking the transfer, even the Aomei Partition Assistant I bought would do that. So Disk Genius Free will be my GoTo for cloning and monthly Incremental System Backups, cause it's easy to do. Thanks for the very informative video.
As far as I can tell, you can still use macrium to clone, and they offer a 30 day free trial. I haven't tried using it yet so I'm not sure if they make you input a credit card or something.
What a great piece of software! Having recently manually moved all my games from 2x drives onto new 2Tb m.2 and then swapped drive letters around so steam / epic etc werent aware of any changes then this software would made it so much quicker and easier to achieve. Thanks for sharing Mike & Kath, have a great weekend 🐈👍
Thanks for the video. I've used Macrium free once a year for a few years. I'd rather do a clean install of Windows than pay £50 pa. I had a look around, and saw this video. I installed it this morning, and have cloned my boot drive this afternoon. Easy, not very quick, but free. The UI is about as simple as can be. Thanks for the heads up.
Hi mate thanks for the info and advice , just about to do my change over to a bigger m.2 and i think i will resize my partition .All the best till next time
I use the older free Macrium Reflect rescue USB thumb drive to create images from all my machines as a backup. That drive still supports a lot of hardware, including my new Lenovo Ideapad Slim 14” laptop.
I Want to say thanks Mike. this honestly saved me when I was stuck installing a brand-new SSD in place of my old SSD. I followed the instructions and cloned my old SSD onto already installed HDD and from there onto the new SSD as my pc only had room for one NVME M2 slot. no joke I was stressing out trying to fix it on my own with other guides till I tried this.
Cloning drives is why I use Samsung drives with their 1 click cloning software. Unfortunately, they are on a higher end for cost. This looks like great alternative for a cheaper drive. Good video.
I am upgrading from a 1Tb to a 2Tb Nvme, does Disk Genius automatically adjust the OS partition to use all available space of the 2Tb or should I manually adjust it? Thanks in advance. Love your videos by the way. Keep it up.
worked like a charm, with no BS. I didn't have the same fancy pants drives he does in the video, so it took a good half hour to clone 256gb, but who's complaining when I didn't cost a penny. Sweet thank you. Shouldn't this function just be part of windows?

Cheers - I haven't heard of this one before. The big disadvantage most of these type of programs have is it will copy over the windows partition (great for backup only) and make it bootable, but forgets about (or won't allow) the other system recovery partitions to be copied as well. This seems to copy everything over. I'm keen to give it a try as I have a few PCs I'll be upgrading soon.
Very glad that you review this Disk Genius Free - Always bought Samsung drives (with Samsung software limited to target Samsung drives) - - - Great Review Mike thanks
Nice find Mike... worked really well, even resetting the boot drive automatically. Pleased to find this now that MiniTool and EaseUS charge (more than the cost of a 1TB drive) for the cloning function.
i have a number of cloning stations but as with anything that is automated there are limitations. the bigger to smaller issue is often a deal breaker and the slow time to transfer empty bits
Hasleo has a PE partition option for a recovery boot menu, tad annoying having a boot menu every boot however there is a BCDedit work around EDIT(1) there is a checkbox work around in Advanced System settings also I was too lazy to look 😫. Thank you for this video. My question is...After using this procedure to clone my SSD, does all of the software that was installed on the source SSD remain functional on the target SSD? Or, does the software need to be reinstalled? Thank you!
it will produce an exact copy of the drive without moving or deleting so when finished you have two identical drives both working as they did before you started
Macrium Reflect did not work with the free version. I kept getting error 9. After trying all the fixes, it did not work. Happy to get this software that worked correctly. Disk Genius worked with the free version, using SSD now! Thanks for the tip!
So, a bit more explanation about where the DiskGenius Program is to be installed in the "Select Destination Location" would be appreciated. My laptop only has "Drive C" to select as a destination to send it. If I select any location in my old Drive C, will the "Warning" regarding the destruction of all files actually happen? I ended up choosing the default folder in Drive C anyway and the program successfully migrated all data and programs on my old Samsung HDD to my new Crucial SSD. Your video had me take on this task with complete success. Thank you.

Thank you for a trouble free system migration tutorial. It was nice and easy to follow.
Glad it was helpful!
Macrium Reflect did not work with the free version. I kept getting error 9. After trying all the fixes, it did not work. Happy to get this software that worked correctly. Disk Genius worked with the free version, using SSD now! Thanks for the tip!
glad it worked out for you. it is a decent bit of software. i am glad i found it
Thank you!It works perfect!👍
You're welcome!
Thank you.
thanks for the feedback and comment
It Worked Thank you so much
