    Shit...if that 82 year old can lift wtf is every one else complaining about deadlifting!

    • @Dionisis_Pan

      They ego lift with bad form and then they get hurt.

      @ConfusedOilPainter What part did he say that made you think he was upset. He just said that the people who complain about the deadlifting probably are using bad form and hurt themselves.

      Kevin yea she was too bowed over and that right leg was def not stable

    • @victornewman508
      @victornewman508 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah , that's my first thought as well . Sumo deadlift or trap bar deadlift would be much better and safer for her.

    • @dradeel
      @dradeel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      People talking out of their a**es regarding form. 🙄 She clearly has a disability and issues with normal movement patterns and posture, that can never be undone, so we must adjust our standards. Either we accept this truth and let her lift, or we get hysterical and deny her the opportunity to get stronger.
      Care about what matters. Her back seemed constant through the lift and her right leg wasn't caving significantly more compared to when she's just standing right up and down, meaning this was likely within her limited capabilities. She was leaning a lot, yes, but how much would you bet she always have that lean through that movement, regardless of the weight? That means if she ever wants to lift anything up from the floor, it always has to follow that movement pattern, so that's what she must train. The priority should be to get her stronger through the way her body moves, and not through an ideal movement pattern that isn't achievable, because this is what will help her in her daily life. Imbalances are simply not her key worry. She's already 80+ and using a cane. Have some perspective!
      I'm also quite sure he has the knowledge and care to not let her do risky lifts and that he knows his client better than we do. She's doing fine.

    I have a decent garage gym that I have been kinda putting together and upgrading for yrs and I love training at home. Never waiting for equipment, no people starting conversations distracting from my workouts, I can use chalk if I need and if I make a bit of noise cuz my workout is getting a bit intense I don't worry bout getting kicked out. Just discovered your channel and really like the content. Gives me ideas for future upgrades.

    Another B&r 2.0 fan! Dandy. Got mine for my birthday a couple months ago from the wife, after wanting one for almost two years. Was worth the wait. Doesn’t seem to want to corrode yet with very minor oiling. It’s in a basement 250’ from the ocean. Just a dream bar. Someday, a OPB though in stainless as the deadlift creeps up.

      I have a 1/2 rack as well and is definitely sufficient for my needs in my garage. I thought about getting a full rack, but I can still get the gains I need with a 1/2 so a full wont make much difference other than taking up way more space.

      P C far as I understand, The barbell medicine crew decided to go their own way which ruffled some feathers among the high ups (e.g rip) in the ss community

    • @michaelbond7213
      @michaelbond7213 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Barbell Medicine has an open letter on their website that says they went their own way after there was disagreement about programming and theory, but only because Matt's online coaching company was allowed to be the sole online coaches to use the starting strength brand name and Austin and Jordan were concerned that their continued affiliation with Rip's Starting Strength would mean that Matt's theories would be attributed to them. I have no opinion on the theoretical differences. I wish they could all work together again. Seems to me that use of the brand name is what broke the relationship.

    Love the vertical leg press. My high school had one but the uprights were made out of square tubing. Love how he said you couldn’t do 800lbs. At 16, I set a record for my high school of 925lbs on that machine (had to extend the weight rack by sticking empty 1in barbells in the 2in pipes up top), surely you elites could do that or better on a one rep max? It’s been a long time since I lifted trying to build a garage gym and get back into it! Love your reviews!

      Which ones and where did you get that info? I emailed strengthshop in about them saying that the TPB is 29 mm, when everyone else say it's 28.5 mm diameter and the respone I got from them was that when they measured it with a digital caliper it said 29 mm on the knurled areas, and 28.5 on the smooth ones.
      This should indicate that they also press their knurl into the bars, right?

    So the vertical leg press Matt has was homemade. I've got one that was made by body solid a long time ago in Taiwan. My question is I've had issues with the uprights sliding against metal and the bushings are worn out. Do you have any issues with the homemade one, I've been debating about making one myself to eliminate this and other problems?

    The Goruck back looks cool, but is it really worth $300?

      It is pretty expensive, but I'm a big fan. I use it everyday and it still looks brand new.

    200 dollars an hour wow
    What if someone training with him 5 times a week
    He would pay 4k a month 🙂
    If i save
    2k for 6 months I could buy his entire gym 4 times

    It's been a month since you teased us with the new Sorinex racks you got in your garage...... still no video dedicated to them. I'm getting impatient. I just want to hear the price on those bad boys. I'd rather buy a Sorinex rack instead of Rogue just because Sorinex has been around my entire life and they're VERY reputable. To the level they are in pro sports teams' gyms.

      I did a video on them, just not the full review yet.

    Why did he sell the gym? Seems pretty torn up about it still, especially when talking about the original barbell.

      Forced out by a rich partner (King Geoffrey) back in 2015.

      Matt Reynolds that's a shame, looks like it's going well now though, best wishes to you and your family.
