    I think this is a time to put away our self-imposed separations and realize this isn't a catholic film, this is a religion film and a Jesus Christ film. This isn't an attack on Catholicism, it's an attack on Christianity. Catholicism is just the easiest to sell due to its familiar iconography.
    As Christians, it's time to come together and fight as one against those from without as well as from within. The recent Methodist schism was first real battle in our modern era.

      The Catholic Church is the only valid Church because it is founded by Christ. They attack the Catholic Church BECAUSE it is Christianity itself, and even they know that much. Protestantism is also an attack on Christianity.

      IDK about all that brother. The obsession with Rome and the Pope is part of the problem. You are brothers in Christ with us if you believe it in your heart. But, my bible is way more important to me than anything going on in Rome and the Vatican. I have to explain to my fellow non Catholics Christians on a regular basis that the belief of the Catholic church is that the Pope is a higher authority than the book. And they look at me and blink their eyes and I have to repeat that slowly as their eyes get bigger and they have a look of stunned confusion come over them. Yes, the Catholic church puts itself higher than the bible and most of the core issues you talk about in the video actually originated inside the church, not out side. This is ABSOLUTELY NOT a scenario where we should join hands with the Catholic church against the horde of Leftist and secularists. Not in a million years sir. Please go back and learn the history of the catholic church. I mean the official story, you dont even have to go find some secret contriversial history. I mean, you can just watch some seminary course on youtube, they are easy to find, learn the history of the church that the church teaches about itself. That will be good enough to make it clear that its the story of a MOB FAMILY. Its not too far from Shakespeares Richard 2, Henry 4-6 and RIchard 3. Like Martin Luthor. I will not Recant.

It is a can of worms best left unopened and out of reach. What is the church? That is a question that is ever-relevant, especially today. In a situation where in Europe the institution of the Church is in decline and the whole concept of Christendom is no longer part of the understanding of Community, and in an America where evangelical Christianity is reduced to Christian Nationalism and the Roman Church is Conservative, it is necessary to seek new ways of Communicating the Gospel.
    In the Conclave you have the Dialectic between the supporters of the status Quo - effectively Nicene Christianity as reflected in the Edict of Thessalonica, or those who are seeking for the Church to conform to society, or at least the vision of Vatican 2. In the end Laurence would have been the Synthesis, and he would have been voted Pope if it had not been the bomb.
    However that is not where the future can lie. The new Cardinal had worked in societies which did not reflect Christendom, where the Church, poor, marginalised had to be faithful to the Gospel, which is the future of the Church in Post Christendom.
    The sexual issue was a minor question which indirectly asks questions, not about Trans, the new pope is not trans, but where you draw the line on the continuum between male and Female. He declined to have his womb removed.
    Gibson and Morgan are stuck in a vision of Christianity which was a wrong turning almost 1700 years ago in the Edict of Milan. What they are looking to is not a valid production of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Great photography, great acting but it hasn’t affected my Catholicism or the practice of my faith. Yes, pretty clear who was going to become Pope. The intersex twist at the end was unexpected but Lawrence’s response to the information was not! Glad there was no woke virtue signalling about multiple gender identities. That would have annoyed me! The Catholic Church will always be attacked because it is made up of flawed human beings but God is still with us!

Before the very shocking and surprising twist ending, was the movie truthful up to that point? I would agree with all those who confirm that separate "parties" existing in churches. Liberals vs Conservatives, with pragmatists on the fence. Many real Christians are leaving the churches just for that reason, standing up for the truth is unpopular. But it won't be forever.

    I went into this movie not knowing about the book. In a nutshell, this story is a demonstration of poor writing because Benitez is an unneeded character. In fact he’s worse than unnecessary, his character actually detracts from the story. Bellini was the honest progressive. Benitez was the deceitfully progressive. So the movie had it’s progressive (Bellini) to oppose it’s traditionalist (Tedesco) and it had its middle ground character (Lawrence). Benitez was not needed. On top of this, because of his deceit the character who “won” is someone the audience can’t root for. What a misstep for a writer to make.

    I enjoy being the highest moral and aesthetic authority in my life. I spontaneously enjoyed the three-day-long mystical experience a long while back, and hell, if "god" accepts me as I am, I don't need a bunch of other people to approve, accept, or affirm me. And oh, look! The law here in the West appears to have been crafted such that I never have to join any group. All I have to do is obey the law, which is the only objective form of morality. Feels good to be free. I'd recommend it to you, but it seems you're busy rummaging in other peoples' ideas, imagining vainly that we must or even could "go back" to some imagined, better time. I'm not "woke". Not a partisan. That's the hallmark of freedom. I'm too busy doing me to be a joiner. What about you? Don't you want to be free? Don't you want to step into office as the highest moral and aesthetic authority in your own life? After all, if you point to someone else and say they are your superior, well, you could only _do_ that if it was your authority to give away in the first place. And it is.

      @dreadfultrue 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ghettoplex Lol, I'm willing to discuss the issue if you can pull yourself away from reflexive pathologizing and ad hom. I'll get us started...
      The Enlightenment wasn't about turning one's back on god, but on the church. Science was the new path to absolute truth (so they thought) and the best and brightest would prove that their own moral prejudices were based on something objective, the way physics works. For over four hundred years, folks have sought to develop some scheme that would make morality objective. They failed. That's why you cannot offer any justifications for your prejudice. You don't have any. It's all just politics. It's why the law is set up to protect your biological and psychological idiosyncrasy, because that's what explains differences in moral and aesthetic prejudices. Differences of opinion aren't error. Meta-ethics is writ in proteins, and no one reasons their way to moral positions but Aspies. Our deontological prejudices are below language and we see other animals sharing them. But then we have language, so we use it to try to bring people over to our own prejudices. That's politics. Lol, even the pro moral philosophers who are supposed to have it all worked out are apparently no better at following their own prescriptions than the rest of us.
      Now, do you have anything of substance in your criticism?
      By the way, "incoherent" is a way of saying meaningless, and I rather doubt you don't understand its meaning. This is a strategy people invoke when they have no argument, and it is referred to as a "coercive theory of meaning". We can talk about that, too. 😁

    1 Timothy 4:1-3 (KJV) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
    Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
    Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
