You fared a little better than us with your close encounter with an Elephant. We had one catch us by surprise post lunch in Mogotho. He was upon us in a flash. We grabbed what we could but accidentally left the following open. Needless to say, 10 mins later, our kitchen area was filled with elephant slobber and the slightest of movements of the elephants head resulted in broken gas struts!!! Luckily for us, we found replacements in Maun. Loving you taking us back to Africa, we are already missing it.
"Miss Leigh" seemed right at home with those little ones ❤❤ To be that close to Elephants in their own environment is a life enriching experience, you are both so lucky 🙂

The young child figuring out whiskers and the logo on Leigh was cute. The poor old Lady elephant was looking for a friend and a place to rest, she seemed to want to rest on your truck. Glad she did not harm anything and I hope her groups finds her.
That little boy from the school was inspecting Leigh like - what planted is this human being from ? 😁😆. Adorable. Hope that the elephant recovers and becomes healthy soon. She found some comfort in the LR. Glad she didn't break the windshield.

One of my old friends used to tour Africa with his wife, the photographer of the two, in their modified Suzuki Samuri and camper trailer. But we lost him a few years back. There are so many stories from the 80s over there. Now watching you guys, I have a video experience of what they saw.

Really sad to see how low the water levels are in the Okavango. My wife and son have just returned from visiting family in Maun and we spoke to our relo's on Christmas day and still no water...they've had a few light rain showers but unfortunately the annual "flood" from Angola brought very little water into the Delta. I think it's going to be another year in drought. Even the water wells in Maun are drying up and the town could run out of water if it doesn't pour with rain for a few weeks...soul destroying. Happy you guys managed to visit Maun and get up close with the wildlife.

This is a very old elephant that removed itself from its herd as she is almost dying. Very unpredictable behaviour.
