My argument for finishing Not In Love...
So I absolutely 100% get that the spicy content in the book is different from previous Ali books, which definitely threw me! But, I think between the first scene and the next few, they genuinely connect and begin to understand each other. I think Rue and Eli have one of the most understated emotional connections of all Hazelwood books, like it truly feels like they are two deeply guarded and messed up people who grow to understand each other deeply. The only thing is that so many of Ali's previous characters were SO ace-coded, and they are definitely not. They do genuinely connect and grow to understand each other, so if you're willing to read past insta-lust, you'll get what I mean.
Also, the conflict, the grey morality, and the character growth is almost more front-facing than the romance for me. I found it more compelling than any of her other books; like I genuinely believed the high stakes of the plot beyond just a dramatic distraction to keep it from being plot-what-plot? erotica. So, you could literally skip the romance/spicy content to understand how the main plot and conflict goes down and you'd find it interesting (or at least I think you will).
Love the tapping in this video so much.

Okay this was so well laid out, you’ve convinced me. I do really like the plot, and I think that first scene of them hooking up led me to believe their dynamic would be like that the rest of the story. I’ll push through! Thanks for convincing me 💕
