Thanks again Angela for all the inspirations and ideas. I can listen to you all day. I have just been doing dot to dot, but your idea of adding wavy lines between some straight ones is perfect start. Take care and see you next week.

I have a twin size quilt that I am so dreading quilting, just because there is so much negative space. I love how you quilt, what gets me is get stuck on what to do and also moving that size on quilt on my machine.. But love watching you and enjoy all your tips. You truly have inspired me to really go for it and ECHO, ECHO, ECHO :-).

Thanks for the lovely examples and encouragement. I'm looking for the tip sheet but it is not available through this link. Can you help? I've just finished a quilt with 2/3 negative space and am eager to make it look great.

Your Tula quilts are fabulous works of art. I have seen them up close and personal. They are spectacular. Any chance you can film more of you actually doing the quilting on your longarm? I love those videos...

I wish we could still get the patterns etc from the Midnight Quilt show - I would love that. Thank you for this one Angela - negative spaces confuse me so this is super helpful. I can usually get something figured out for the blocks, but its the rest of the quilt that I think and think and think about.

Thanks Angela. Not sure if this a topic for a full video but………I use a hoop frame and a long arm and I find my biggest challenge is to plan out how to quilt so that I end up in a place where I dont have to do a lot of travel stitching to get to the next area I want to quilt. Oh, and I hate having to break thread unless necessary. I enjoy all your videos

This has been very informative and helpful. I'm a beginner quilter and have been puzzled over how to quilt a baby panel that has a lot of negative space. This chat has inspired a few ideas for me. Thank you, Angela!

Angela, this was extremely helpful! I just bought and set up my very first longarm, and like other new long armerss, I am a bit intimidated by it. But you gave me confidence. Wish me luck as I start my first practice session on my new machine today!

Hi Angela.....I have been using Glide thread to quilt on my Janome 6600... recommended by Becky at your shop. THANK YOU!!!! This has made my life so much easier!! Love it! I am a life long customer at QIMT! AND...Thanks Angela for all your teachings.... I have learned so much and everyday find more to learn. I do all my quilting on my domestic and keep wondering if I should go to a long arm. Lots to think about. (I was in your shop in Liberty in July and was hoping to meet you, but watching your videos I understand how busy you are, but still sorry to have missed you!) ..... Pam from S.Wayne, WI

Some years ago I bought some coordinating fabrics that were small triangle prints. One was a bright multi-color, the other a darker purple color. I used the dark for a simple nine-patch extending the nine-patches into the multi-colored border. It was dull and the purple did not contrast enough to show well in the border. There was a bit of lime green in both prints so I added a narrow inner border of a lime green and then used a lime green thread to quilt the whole quilt, including large flower shapes in the negative space of the nine patches in the center. That brightened the entire quilt and while still not one of my favorites made it quite acceptable, and the family I gave it to were very happy with it.

You’re so funny!! Love your carefree attitude! I need some help loosening up. I’m one of those that want a perfect quilt but can’t seem to get there. It’s very difficult for me to let that go. I’m trying to practice more and watching your live chat videos are very informative.

I’m a little late to the party but so glad I made it. First off I love your helpful vids, thank you. Secondly I do have a question. Is there an app that you can import your quilt top your about to quilt and select various quilt patterns, pre determine your quilting if you will, to see how they look before you dive in and quilt? Thanks.

I just finished watching this episode. Two questions, if you have time to answer them: 1) what type of batting do you use? I notice some lovely "puffy" dimension to some of your designs. and 2) you mentioned using different color threads. Do you match top and bobbin when you use different color threads? With my thanks. Question!! Can I use my ruler foot as my fmq foot? It quilts so much better than my fmq foot…I just don’t want to ruin my foot. Thanks!! This is THE BEST video!!
