    these are amazing but to be honest this video doesn't show you how to fit the internal watstegate turbo blanket at all and it's completely different when it's on the car

    What's the effect of the blanket on the turbo reliability? The turbo is clearly going to run a lot hotter.

      Fantastic Question! In regards to your concerns, this is a common misconception. A turbo blanket actually separates the turbine housing from the core (in regards to temperature split). This allows the core work with less heat strain on it, meaning that the chance of failure is lower. Also, the heat energy stays stored within the gas, hotter gases accelerate far better than cooler gases, and so reducing the overall effect that it would have on the turbo’s life.
      Win all around! Lower engine bay temperatures, less heat soak, lower intake temperatures, more reliable performance, faster spool up! Win win win!

      @@Funkmotorsport It sounds very glib and too good to be true. Why wouldn't the manufacturers fit turbo blankets as original equipment?
      I'll see what technical papers have published on this subject.

      Another great question, generally, OEMs work within tolarances, and the heating and cooling of the engine bay works well within their chosen ranges. However, this takes it one step further to help (even OEM packages), even more efficient!

      Unless your putting one of these on with the turbo off then it's impossible and it should be made clear before u buy it as mine is now sitting in a drawer doing nothing

    I'm about to wander the page. Is there a way to instal the blanket with the turbo still attached? 🤔

    • @Funkmotorsport
      @Funkmotorsport  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Michael. Around 80-85% of all of our customers fit blankets when directly fitted to the car. Hope this helps!

      Do you manufacture a blanket that will fit a factory turbocharger on an MR2 or Celica Turbo? Any of them from the 1990s will do.

    Useless video - how often will the turbo be sat on the bench ?? 🙄

      Good point. However, we understand that everyone's setup is completely different to one another's. This video is to showcase how a blanket should sit with an unobstructed view.

      @@Funkmotorsport still a useless video. I know that every turbo in each different car will be slightly different but people need to be shown just how difficult fitting these actually is
