For every 5 houses at least 1 will have something. Your persistence is rewarded past the edge of your limit, and that one final stop makes it all worth it.
true story.. I was holding a yard sale once and this dude tried STEALING 2x Devilbiss sprayers that I had sitting on a table. He actually waited till I wasn't looking and walked off with them. I saw him do it and chased him down. I had $20 ea on them which was a steal already. pissed me off
Outside yard & garage sales just beginning here in Florida, all the snowbirds down here buying to bring back up North in the spring. LOL, There is an older couple that comes down every year, been watching them for almost 20 years. He works PT at a little local auction and she works in one of the RV parks. They bring down a load of furniture each year and purchase cheaper take back vintage items. I noticed on Taco Stacks (sent me to your channel a couple months ago) lots of furniture goes in the trash in his area. Would be willing to bet that load of furniture is from trash pickups. There is money to be made everywhere as "PETE SAYS - HUSTLE". Really a circle between areas. Love watching your channel. Even at 73, I have found I can still learn. Markets change, but the right items will sell.
Due I love watching you wheel and deal, your the best. Sorry about the garage sales being suckie some people just give up with a little rain or cold. Thanks for sharing the video
how about an ad posted in a local paper for a 4pm garage sale. a line of people waiting outside for the garage doors to open. its about 10 after for the garage door opens and the guy walks out with his dog car and the garage there's no garage sale. what a waste
Why did he do that? I've gone out of my way to go to a couple a bit further away in the times specified and then I get there...nothing. What's wrong with these people?
Pete I live in MN so we probably have the same weather. Your best bet is probably church sales this time of year. You just gotta make sure you are there early because all the good stuff goes fast.
I was about to say that Marcus. I don't scrap like you do but there is a guy that has a yard sale 2 or 3 times a year who works at a local scrap yard and he gets stuff there all the time that's good stuff,he always has a big box of remotes and sells them for $.75 each but I'll go to his sale and get the whole box for say $.30 to $.40 a remote. He says that he just finds them laying out around the scrap yard. I make good money selling them, easy to test, store and ship.
hey Craigslist Hunter hows it been out there in the northern picking area, i see your not finding much, Ive been finding good stuff here in FL, glad to see the video bud hope all is well,
Dang I have 2 of the Magnavox dual DVD/VHS recorder / players with the remote! I need to sell them, I had bought them to change my VHS home movies of my daughter to dvd
Great video, just curious why you aren't a eBay store subscriber? With the number of listings you have just on the discounted FVF it has to be well worth the $20-50 a month.
Should be Nice video I'll watch later .. just wanna leave u couple requests Pete, 2 topics would be appreciated if you talk about: 1- cleaning the items 2- how do you store you products like in your shop Thanks and peace out
Great buys on those DVDs, Pete. On the remotes, how do you know what they go to? I've had a lot of them but not sure how to list them or if they have any value. Not all of them do. Thanks for the video. Appreciated.
Susanna Hutcheson Hi. Usually there is a model number on the front or back. Sometimes it will be under the battery door or under the batteries. The remotes with the most value are usually for high end tv's, dvd and home audio components. In my experience, the bigger, more complex the remote often the higher it will sell for but definitely not always so. Some will sell for 40-50 or higher in some cases. Make sure to test the infrared beam using a digital camera or phone and depressing each button. There are how to videos on YT. Hope that helps some.
That reminded me of myself,Pete. I'll say I'm done, there's nothing out today but always stop at one more on the way home, cause you never know what's there and sometimes it pays off like it did with you. Total sickness!
It is a sickness!:). I went yesterday and just kept believing I would find one good thing. Found zero! And my sister was tired of it all long before me. Lol
Pete, I'm in Ohio, 350 miles east of you in Chrystal Lake. Garage sales have been really slow here. I go to www.garagesalefinder.com and put in a zip code that's 30 to 40 miles from here in a more densely but somewhat wealthier area. I always come home with a good haul, week after week. Still seeing enough sales to make it worth my time for now. And......... go Indians.
once you plug in your town/state or zipcode, there is a blank search box to see if there is something specific you're looking for. There is also purple blocks to search by the day of the week. Happy hunting.
Very nice Pete, but I still can't bring myself to go to garage sales. I have a problem with that. I wish I could. I'm hopping to gain strength from you going. So far nothing. I'll keep trying. Any suggestions that might build my strength to go would be appreciated. Cheers and TTFN Bud.
Im not certain, but the scammer who you may be dealing with could be (not sure) EbayIsaJoke, hes been going after successful buy and sellers and trying to ruin their reputation, i dont know if you guys have any information on him?
How u doin Pete,,Just and Idea for you to think about!! I think one day you should talk or make a video on how much you make on your youtube video's being it is another sorce of revenue..I would be really interested in hearing about that..Again just a idea. As always I find your videos very helpful on making a decent income selling on ebay. Loyal follower..Thanks Frankie
You sound just like me...#*&$%%# people who don't take down their signs before they close the garage sale! Oh wait...there's one more...this is the last one - I promise! :-)
Pete :Thank you for all of your light, inspirational, thoughtful posts and contributions. Your content has been very valuable in my life!!

we need an intervention for you pete :P that was funny as hell , i've had it, i'm heading back to the shop... JUST ONE MORE !!!!!
Most remotes only go for 5 or 6 bucks. Only maybe %15 of them go for more....at least in my experience.

Pete, I live in central Illinois, and Fall Garage Sales are the best here. Spring and Summer are def not as good.
The ironic thing is that Philips & Magnavox actually are the same company so essentially, you've managed to get two of the same unit for $5 each.
Dang I have 2 of the Magnavox dual DVD/VHS recorder / players with the remote! I need to sell them, I had bought them to change my VHS home movies of my daughter to dvd
Shelby Greenwood they have to be able to record DVDs to go for any $
Great video, just curious why you aren't a eBay store subscriber? With the number of listings you have just on the discounted FVF it has to be well worth the $20-50 a month.
