Really like this conversation style of interview with a designer. Usually, it's just getting the designer or publisher to show off the new game and give an overview, so it's nice to hear the whole design process from her point of view. Her thought process of coming up with an economic system for the birds was interesting. I forsee a Quackalope Wingspan promo card in the future. I preordered a copy from Stonemaier when they first announced and now I'm kind of jealous of the swift start pack. I think that's a great idea for games to include something like that, especially for a game like this that has reached a wide audience.
@@jonaskissling8343 something new they added to the newer print runs of Wingspan. Basically, it sets up your first game with certain cards so you can learn as you play.
Thanks so much for checking it out Tyler! I want to do more of these conversation style videos - hoping to build it into a series when I can! We 100% need to work on a promo card XD I had to get a second copy (the one we are opening) so we could film the swift start. It’s a cool way to introduce the game - but if you know it already I don’t think you are missing anything major.
I played this game in a convention here in Brazil, right before it hit retail. It was my first game that day, and I had no expectations, and I found the theme funny, like ‘a game on birds’, and scoffed a bit on it. It played so well and it was so much fun, for everyone on the table, that I bought it as soon as we finished. I’ve played it tons afterwards, and it’s a go-to game for a quick, fun game to enjoy. It’s a benchmark for me, and one of the best in this past couple of years. It’s in my top 10, maybe top 5. What she accomplished is remarkable, specially being her first game. And I have the feeling of oddness watching her, like, she’s a regular person, like us! Goes to show where inspiration, dedication and hard work can lead to. Congratulations are in order. Ps: I really liked the questions on the interview, Jessie, you did well in that role!
Thank you so much for watching it! I’m really glad you enjoyed it :) It’s so cool hearing peoples connection to wingspan and other games! I like you underestimated it at first! It’s easily in my top 10 as well right now - I just adore it!
This game is awesome, one of the best ever. Elizabeth did a great job on this one and I love how the expansions add up new mechanisms to the already well made base version. Can't wait to get my hands on the future expansion as well.
I'm a bit late to party here, but I'd like to thank you for this video. Wingspan is already a game I am absolutely planning on picking up (I love critters), but I am even more excited for it after watching this. It was absolutely fascinating to me to watch Elizabeth Hargrave expound on her thoughts and experiences in such a relatable way. For me, this puts even more heart and soul into the game than just the theme itself does. Great job on the interview and thank you to Elizabeth Hargrave on being so forthcoming.
Wingspan is a beautiful game :) - I really enjoy talking with designers about their games and the work that goes into them - it is something I hope I can do more of with this channel!
What a lovely video! The idea to interview a game designer while unboxing their game with them is an inspired idea - you should definitely make that a regular feature if you can. I'm familiar with your Oniverse videos (which I think are excellent) but you stepped up into the top level here - your interview style and technique was fantastic - clearly putting Elizabeth at ease and asking her some very inciteful questions which illicited some interesting answers. Thank you.
I didn't know she designed Mariposas but I just ordered it because she did and based on her description of it here. Christmas gift for the Mrs. since she spent some summers tagging monarch butterflies so they could track migration.
Just chiming in before I even finish the video but what a great choice in Stonemaier...I tell you as a new board gamer it just feels so nice to know your money went to good components. This and one other from Stonemaier I have just make you feel good about investing in expansions and all that.
Really enjoyed the interview. I'll finally get a chance to play this game again on Xmas, can't wait to break the shrink wrap. 2 more days 😁 Keep up the good work my friend.
What the what? You've got some mad cred if you're pulling in top-tier talent like Elizabeth Hargrave. Hope your channel gets a well-deserved boost from it. Edit: I really like the format of having a designer help unbox their own game while you interview them. :]
Haha thanks Brandon - the Board Game world is smaller than you would think so don't give me too many points for her coming over! The channel has been growing well - people like you commenting and sharing really help! Also - thank you for watching and editing the post - I like the format even if it needs some refinement!

Whats this swift card pack exactly?

Wow this interview feels so natural. Great job, I've been watching this channel more and more, it's becoming a favorite of mine.
I am glad you are enjoying it!

Great interview! Our favorite game of all time, and it's cool to hear the back story. Thanks for doing this conversation! :)
Great interview. He did a great job with ease of questions. Really enjoyed!
I am glad you enjoyed this - She makes it easy!
Thank you for making this game! Best game ever!!! 👌

Oh I love that the Cuts at the beginning where you show the cards are in sync with the cheerfull music. Well done!
Thanks so much :) - I always try to show off a bit of what we do on the channel!
I love this interview style. Great job!

Thanks so much - I was really glad she was willing to come and join me! I hope we can do more of these types of videos down the road!

Really glad you are enjoying the interview :)
Very cool. My wife loves this game. We had a chance to play last year at Kingdomcon late at night. Had to borrow a copy because it was sold out!
It’s such a good game :)
So much enjoyed this video!
I am really glad you did!
Really enjoyed the interview.

2 more days 😁
Keep up the good work my friend.
Hey! It is Christmas - I hope you got it opened and to the table!!
I will keep up the work - keep watching and sharing!

Thank you so much for checking it out!
The way she's shuffling those cards hurts me. 😬. Great video. 😉
I know! I was like, wait! What are you doing!
Haha - I think she can do anything she wants :P
That's how they shuffle cards in a casino
It's good you didnt read the instructions on the punchboard for assembling the bird feeder. I followed it and tore/ripped the hinge off mine.
Oh no! I built my first one without hurting it - but this time - with the talking - I could not do it XD
same city? you are also in Maryland, near DC?
It's weird now to hear people talk about running into each other at conventions. Oh how I miss those pre-virus days
Thank you!
Thank you!
Why does it feel like one day we'll have Weinstein like stories about Jesse? So creepy feeling
"Pandemic was super exciting because it was nonfiction"...............Oh, 2019 Elizabeth, you don't even know..............you don't even know.......
