I see them still being a possible championship team, as long as Kerr doesn’t resign Bazemore, and if they plan to keep Wiggins, they might have to let Oubre go, even if they want Oubre to stay with the team next season. Too much inconsistency. We need more consistent players. I hope Kerr will make some big moves this offseason.

Yes it's always good to have a top level defender like today's Wiggins, but let's be real, you win basketball games by scoring more than the opponent team, defense is only good when you can do that with consistance or at least you can hold on the score, when the whole team are bad at defense, when you have to push Curry to score in half of you possessions, one Wiggins doesn't help that much, not his fault at all.

    • @jon4good929
      @jon4good929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

They can't stop Wiggins from getting to the rack now. When Klay comes back he could either get to the rim every time or kick it to Steph or Klay. They ran pick and roll one time with Steph and Wiggs resulting in a nice easy to hand jam for Wiggins. I'm pretty sure it's the 1st time all season. Are they saving that for playoffs or what? They should utilize Wiggins athleticism and playmaking ability more.

Here's why Kerr probably doesn't want to run the pick n roll a lot, they'll double Curry immediately forcing the ball down to the roll man (mostly Green or Wiseman) or to an open shooter (Wiggins, Oubre, Green, etc.) which is a shot other teams will be happy to give up. So doing more pick n roll action isn't the best answer for this team as well especially if the rest of players are just standing around making it harder for Curry to move around off ball.

Warriors had great team chemistry in the prime Steve Kerr administration years. Watching them catch lightning in a bottle was exciting to watch. But that was the last of the years of the Spurs being relevant(seems like a decade ago), and the rest of the West being in a down cycle. Now GSW is trying to put it all back together in a West where PHO, UT, LAC plus the underrated Lakers, are all set to make deep runs into the playoffs. Just don't see this current GSW team being able to recapture that level of play. Too many interdependent moving parts on those champ/contender GSW teams, to be able to bring it back to the glory years, without making some serious changes.

Except with either a big move with Wiseman and Wiggins or a nice sign and trade for Oubre and maybe Paschall and/or Poole and the MLE to upgrade the bench they will be a 5-6 seed in the west out in a second round specially if Klay don’t come back at 80-90% of his former self

We just need klay back, we need a bench, we need a team. Wigs is a good player he's good his defense is amazing this year, his off ball offence is bad but everything else is great. Draymond is great at everything but scoring. We need more curry pick and rolls and pick and fades, klay will help with everything. Steve kerr is a good Coach you can't say he's bad when he led a team to 73 and 9. Curry is the 3rd best player in the nba 10th all time fight me.

Wiggins is and should be our future sf for the next 2-4 years; his price is high but so are many of the free agent contracts as well.
Wiseman is definitely our future big man; obviously it will take some time to get him in tuned (with the work he’s going to do with KG in the offseason, he will extremely benefit).
Green is our point forward, and obviously he needs more room on the floor; but he’s a great defender as well as a coach on the floor (when he doesn’t get into trouble).
Oubre can stay or he can go, in my opinion. He’s definitely a 6th man, not a starter for a playoff team.
Chef Curry is the Man! Easily a top 10 player of all time. He opens up the floor much more with Draymond playing; it’s having two point guards on the floor at the same time, obviously Steph is the #1 option for the next couple of years.
I feel the Warriors are in great shape, with the roster they presently have, Klay coming back next year, draft picks, free agents, the youth of Nico Mannion Jordan Poole Paschall and Wiseman will make them the team to beat in the future!

The severe problem with this team is from something we dont see in the games. As a Warrior fan trust me, this comment is as honest and as fair. This roster is simply not enough. I believe this is the front office’s responsibility. I look at teams like Miami and Chicago, even Charlotte or Atlanta, you can actually feel the effort of their front office to improve their rosters. After KD, we haven’t had any major significant signings, and its 2 seasons now.

I tend to agree that Kerr is being too stubborn about the pick and roll. I also feel that this teams plays much better with Juan Toscano-Anderson on the floor (more ball movement), yet he sees very few minutes some games. They need to guarantee his contract and play him more.

-> Curry shall never be disrespected again
-> Draymond is not a scoring threat and is not all star level
-> Wiggins can play defense but his offense is super inconsistent and need to slash
-> Oubre is super inconsistent in everything
-> Klay would not solve everything but can solve something
-> Steve Kerr is too stubborn and Terrible in player development. They need to run pick and rolls which they are so good at but Kerr doesn't want to.
-> The warriors bench is barely G League level

Huge Dubs fan but facts are facts, this team has massively over achieved this season for a whole multitude of reasons.
Let me start with some optimism..
Wiggins has been great, no he's not the saviour some might have hoped for or the max player his contract would have you believe. But his defense especially has been amazing to watch, he may not ever have Iggy's smarts but the athleticism, size and length is all there. Offensively I'm not sure he will ever be the perfect fit for the Motion offense and I think the biggest knock on him remains his mental lapses. He just zones out pretty regularly throughout the game. He's a keeper though unless you could get back a real star in return. As long as Joey pockets is willing to pay the luxury tax who really cares.
The other reason for optimism, The Chef still has it and then some. He's even put on even more muscle and at times literally low key bullies people physically. He's on his way to perhaps winning another scoring title this season regardless of where the Dubs end up. He might get a few MVP votes too but really it will be a crime if the Joker doesn't get it.
But the bad oooh boy. I generally agree with the points in the video but think you are being far too charitable to Dray. This shit is bad real bad. It's way beyond the point of a lack of spacing. He has no offensive bag at all. He's hunting for assists and everyone in the area can see it. No one respects his drive to the rim let alone take a jump shot from anywhere on the court (3 ball or not). It's not just that he's an offensive zero the opposing team just camps on his passing lanes most of the time. For someone that has hung his hat on work ethic and hustle the regression in his game since they signed KD is stunning too see. On the Defensive end he still has the IQ and every now and again when he's motivated enough he pushes himself to make the sort of winning plays we have come to expect. But most die hard Dubs fans will agree he ain't what he used to be and it's getting harder and harder to justify that contract and the way the ball has to be funneled through him on offense.
I won't spend too much time on the bench though a few players deserve attention.
JTA has been a real highlight, he's got a high motor makes lots of reads on both ends and frequently makes multiple efforts in the one play on either end. Jordan Poole has shown some potential as a combo guard he's still quite young but could develop into a nice scorer. Losing and the trading Marquiss Chriss was tough, I want to hope they have every intention of resigning him in the off season because he was coming along nicely.
Everyone else and I mean everyone else can hit the bricks. Wiseman was probably a pick you had to make with the number 2 just to see what the potential was. It turns out though he's every bit the high school player we feared he might be. Tremendous physical potential but even assuming he's not as injury prone as it might seem and he's 3 or 4 season minimum away from being genuine starting center material, let alone star player. Not really his fault it's just the nature of the beast big men take longer to develop 90% of the time.
Lastly Kerr and Management needs to take plenty of blame here. Kerr has been real stubborn about his precious motion offense. The writing was already on the wall over the course of the dynasty it was just harder to see with the sheer talent on the roster (the league was catching up). Almost all that talent has gone. When 90% of the roster can't read and react in a read and react system it's beyond dead. Watch those games v the Lakers factor out the personnel and just watch how Vogel had the system scouted to a T.
Ultimately the franchise needs to decide what it wants to do. Either they fully commit to making another run at the title while Steph is still prime Steph and Klay has potential to continue to add value. In that case all options need to be on the table except moving either of the splash bros. No sacred cows like Dray or Looney or products of nepotism like Bazemore, D Lee or Smiley should stand in the way. Kerr should be given an ultimatum, adapt the system in real and meaningful ways or leave.
Or they need to admit that maybe the magic is gone and commit now the a real rebuild and leverage all the assets they have now to a ground up rebuild. In that case Wiseman is probably someone to build around long term.
Trying to do both is a recipe for failure.
For my mind some immediate trade targets in the off season should be Myles Turner / Christian Wood to start.

The problem is that Kerr is still running his system like Durant and Klay are there and Steph's new teammates are completely different players. Wiggins, Oubre, and Wiseman are super athletic but not very good at catching and shooting or moving off the ball. An offense centered around pick and rolls, especially with Curry's ability to space the floor, would allow them to get to the rim more often. Steph is the only volume shooter on that team with Klay injured.
