    Just got my 2019 RTL-E on 12/7 (early Christmas present to myself). I love it and it's perfect for me. Had a 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT and the city MPG on the Ridgeline is better than the highway MPG on the Escalade. You hear a lot of people talking about how ugly it is and it doesn't look like a truck. I bought it because it drives like a car. I don't need the huge towing and payload capacity any longer but still want the functionality of a truck. Drove the Tacoma and GMC Canyon and like the Ridgeline ride much better. Also, I am 6' 4" and 230 lbs and I fit in the Ridgeline better than I fit in the Tacoma.
    On my Escalade, I had vanity plate CADITRK. Since the Ridgeline is a car frame, I am getting vanity plate CRUCK.

    I was still waiting for big value differences between the two models. You can spare me the parking assist and fancy paint. My 2011 Ridgeline RTL is a gentle beast. It tows and drives well on the worst roads. Love it! When I finally upgrade I will get a used 2017 RTL with the more efficient engine. Until then someone else can keep paying the depreciation.

    Well done!
    Outstanding review.
    The remote is also something to talk about.
    It rolls all the windows down at the same time and it rolls them up.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were a couple of things I missed John that really bugged me...the remote being one - however, the bigger gaffe was missing the cylinder bank deactivation that keeps the sparkplugs to the back half of the motor (since the engine is sideways) lit even though the intake and exhaust are shut off so that when they are re-opened, the response is immediate...I love that bit of simple technology.

    • @digitalman269

    Great showing! I currently own an RTL-E and absolutely love it. You hit the nail on the head. I used to own a 2011 F150 and never got close to using it to its full potential. If I did, it was always for someone else! This Ridgeline does all the truck stuff I need while keeping me comfortable inside!
    That said, mine is a 2017. I noticed in your vid that they have a nice cover on the fuel door. I am guessing that is to stop issues with the fuel inlet freezing. Is that something I can purchase and add to mine? I havnt had any freezing yet, but if I do, I will not have any gas left!!!

    • @everycarSeattle

      I wish it could be added. I wanted to add it to both of my cars (our local Honda store is both Honda and Mercedes) but no such luck. If you brought this to market aftermarket, you could make a lot of money. Who wouldn't want to lose the gas cap forever?

    Good review. I'm shopping this vehicle as a replacement for my 2011 Tundra. I guess that this could tow my 4800 lb boat 40 miles a year. I'd be over the limit of 5000 with the boat and trailer but it won't even be on the highway.
    While not the prettiest vehicle it is highly functional for what it is. Lot's of good features but some big misses. The fuel filler has been a problem for owners with freeze up issues. That is a fix and there have been a few other recalls that are kind of alarming for Honda. The other issues are the infotainment system/screen and the rear doors don't open far enough. Very odd.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honda has had more baby negatives in the past handful of years than I can ever remember...but Honda is still Honda and they are relentless at making problems go away without owners having to pay any money.

    • @squidusn71
      @squidusn71 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are tranny issues though not many. Fuel pump recall, it's nothing but a shield that will be installed. There are fuel rail and injector tsb as well and some catalytic converter replacements. A timing belt which is an easy visual inspection if it needs changing or not. All are covered under warranty. However, I've never heard much about fuel filter freezing and I'm in both Pilot and RL forums all the time. I own a 17 pilot with 9spd with 23k miles now. My 19RTLE RL is a year old with 6700 mi. Both no issues. RL members in forums have posted 50k to 90k miles with their RL with no issues. There's a rear door hack that will make it open wider. A 30$ parts cost and an easy 45 minute DIY. The infotainment is slow and not so ergonomic but I got used to it. It has it's minor quirks but what vehicle doesnt.

      They are spendy Matt, but what's crazy is that after 10 years both Ridgeline's and Tacoma's both seem to be as pricey (if not more) than their full-size counterparts. Technically, I think lacquer is for wood, so gloss would have been a better choice of words.

    Giant turds. Bought a 2019 new off the lot and in 8k miles had the transmission go out 3 times. None of the trim fit correctly and had to be replaced several times. GPS and electrical glitches multiple times. Bluetooth and voice recognition had to be replaced and flashed several times. Towed 4k total pounds and it was a pig on the road. I REALLY tried to love the truck, and as a car it worked great. But once you do anything truck-wise...it fell on its face. For the amount of money you spend on it, they are WAY over priced and full of issues.

      @@everycarSeattle Structually the Pilot and Ridgeline share common parts. 73% of its body frame is the same as the Pilot, but body frame and body molding is diferent. If you look at the wheel well of the Pilot is very "CURVE" like, while the Ridgelines curves try to obtain a more square "truck" style look.
      Its not just that. The Ridgeline has its own independent front and rear suspension with its own control arms, bearings, better springs/struts to make it more truck like. The frame of Ridgeline has to be 30% more stronger than the Pilot to accept a 1500 pound payload. And of course the Ridgeline (being a truck) comes standard with hitch and 7 pin connector (optional on Pilot)
      Where the Pilot succeeds is interior cargo space (more interior volume than the Ridgeline) along with great passenger seating/entertainment package. Problem is if you need to haul something like a fridge away, an enclosed cabin will probably not work for you.
      Bottom line: Sure the front end of the Ridgeline is the Pilot. Its hood is the exact same as the Pilots..but there are SEVERAL components I mentioned above that is exclusive to Ridgeline, which makes it not just a "Pilot with a Bed". That analogy is false. People are just taking one aspect of the vehicle and then making assumptions from there. Quite a few under the body changes are exclusive to Ridgeline which makes it more Truck like. Finally - I do like to point out I own a 2019 Ridgeline Black Edition and it feels every bit like a truck. Driving it does feel like a Pilot though, but thats because its frame is 73% identical and there's nothing wrong with that. I'll take comfort over "looking cool in a old school truck" any day of the week.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ridgeline has always been perceived as not being a "real" truck and maybe that's an accurate point of view. Nissan is going through the same thing with their Titan diesel, which according to the market, isn't a real 3/4 ton. Trucks are like Harley's, just looking like a Harley doesn't make it a Harley and buying a fake Harley is going to be a certain source of ridicule. Honda still has a ways to go to win over die-hard truck enthusiasts, but they've come a long way.

    • @The_Duggler25

      @@everycarSeattle for there titan its not 3/4 ton. What we call it is a heavy half ton like gm 1500HD. Its a truck in between. Anyone who needs a real truck isnt going to get a ridgeline. Its for those people who dont have alot of people to care and like to bike and canoe. The rather have it in a bed then on the roof. I will say the "truck" is an interesting gimmick but a not the only one with something like that. Ran has the ram boxes and the older avalanches had it before ram. Also fwd truck is just.....no. if they advertised it differently and to a different part of the market instead of as a good old truck. I think it actually sell very well.

    It is not a "car based" truck. It shares nothing with honda cars. It would be more accurate to call it a Pilot Based Truck. That would get you in the ball field. Just because it has uni body architecture doesn't mean its car based. I feel like your video misrepresents what the Ridgeline has to offer and you did it no real justice. Is it an F-150, no. Is it trying to be? No. Can it do 75% of what an F-150 can do? Yes. Is it blending SUV and Truck is the question to be asked. Is it alone in the SUV-Truck crossover "segment" YES

    “Very very powerful” lol. Should’ve bought a Tacoma. The only people who like these trucks are those who get suckered into buying them.

      There are plenty of trucks more powerful than the Ridgeline, but the Tacoma is not one of them....that being said, I love the Tacoma and would buy it over the Ridgeline for myself since it is better off road and living on an island is brutal on a truck...

      The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney never said the Tacoma was more powerful. But to say that anything 280hp and 260lb/ft of torque is powerful is untrue. Especially when most midsize family sedans like the Camry, Maxima, and Impala are available with similar or more powerful engines.

      You don’t have a clue... they are great quality trucks. They have great reliablity and handle great. If you never driven or owned one, you would not understand

      Leezy you don't know what you are talking about, I used the Ridgeline pulling my Skeeter 20 footer with a Yamaha 225 like nothing, going 550 miles one way that's1100 miles , my body needed a truck to pull his Ranger 21 footer with 250 mercury 350 miles one way 700 miles round trip for a Tournament and because his GM truck was in the shop, nothing against GM. I love ALL trucks, the Ridgeline is a GOOD GOOD truck.
