zine idea! (similar to the business card one) if you’re in any school or other clubs, making a zine of information about the club is very handy! i’m currently the vice prez of my photography club and i’m working on a photo club zine as i’m watching this. include information such as: when and where you meet, what you do/the structure of the club or team, social medias, how to join, who to contact, etc. plus when you’re trying to get people to join you can just hand them one :)) i’m going to hand these out at freshman orientation!
Great video! What you’re saying about “stealing” ideas reminds me of the book Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. It’s about the same things you’re talking about-getting inspiration from different things and then making your own work. You “steal” a format or a topic but you make it your own (and not an exact copy of what you found).

It's funny how I'm only discovering zines now. I wanted to start a magazine in high school to give a space for queer artist and voices. I also just made random comics, fandom journal spreads, and collections of poetry. I never knew what to do with all these Ideas and most of them were abandoned. I ran into the problem with the queer magazine idea especially, there were no magazines that were like what I wanted to make so I had no idea how to make it. It looks like zines were the answer the whole time! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! Now If only I owned a printer...
the business card zine is so good! i always struggle to think of good business cards for my business other than having the logo done and i do so many different things so thats great
I was so inspired by your “oh the places you’ll cry” zine! I actually ended up making something similar about my epilepsy where I rated different places I’ve had seizures.
Thank you for sharing this with me, that’s a very good idea for a zine and I’m sure very therapeutic for you in a way! I dated someone once who would have seizures every time we went out. Clubs, skateparks, you name it. I can understand how scary/inconvenient that must be for you but rating them must be super healing and powerful 🫂💞💞 Wishing you all the best and that you keep making zines!! x

If you think about, almost all the ideas on social media (IG, TikTok, etc) are stolen and copied. I'm glad to see people are still getting into zines in 2023 (and away from the online stuff 24/7) Keep up the good work!
made my first one and... i get it.. its so satisfying to hold something tangible in your hand that you created. the process of thinking up the idea to the layout and then the final result of holding it in your hands, or seeing other people read them is so satisfying.
