What an awesome history lesson in Scramblers. I absolutely love the 84 Scrambler Laredo in the Ice Blue with the Nutmeg brown interior. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of all these Scramblers Dennis. I really enjoyed and appreciate it.

Back in the late 80s, I was working for the USDA in Spokane Washington. Our office had a Scrambler. It was light blue with a white cab. I always wondered what happened to it.

These Scrambler videos are hard to watch. My 83 CJ8 Laredo was bobbed by the previous owner back in the late 90s and turned into a rock-crawler. It is mean off-road, but would be so much more valuable if it was stock.

We bought our '86 Scrambler from Collins Brothers when we lived in Garland. Hauled it to Utah, drove it several years, then sold it. Loved that Jeep and now we wonder why, why why did we sell it? Would love to have another.

Dennis, you didn't mention the wood rails, something unique to Scramblers. My '81 Scrambler has wood rails that seem a little different than later Scramblers. Wondering if they are original and if Jeep made changes throughout the years of production.

I thought I knew everything there was to know about jeep's, but I was mistaken cuz I never noticed the narrow track of the 81 compared to newer model years...does that apply to all jeeps, as in cj5 and cj7, as well? Also, I'd love to switch my cj7 high back seats to those low backs seen in the baseline cj8 in this vid, cuz the stock high backs just suck...

    Hi man,
I have a 1995 Orvis Zj/Zg Euro spec, built in Austria, 4.0 auto. Right hand drive, straight and clean - might need paint.
    Emgine has done 130,000 km
Has every feature possible, not rusty - is this a collectible Jeep?
Apparentlyonly 170 were ever built to this spec.
Is this just another ZJ with a badge, or is it worth anything?
    Cheers, Andy

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Have you not seen the rows and stacks of 40’ containers he has out there? He walks past them in most of the coffee walks and he’s got racking out there with tubs, frames, axles, etc stacked up waiting to sell or use. It appears he’s already got your idea well under control but it takes time and money to cannibalize them and it seems most of the guys are already slammed most of the time. He’s in Texas so it’s not gonna hurt the. To sit around a year or two till someone has time to disassemble others that won’t be built

There is an Indian company called Mahindra that makes tractors and farm equipment primarily, but they have a long standing agreement with Jeep that allows them to use the CJ body and design and everything. They have a model they sell in the side by side market called the Roxor, which is basically a updated diesel powered Jeep CJ. It isn't street legal in the US though.

Has anyone every swapped the motor out of a willys “jeep” and if so what was used? I have one that someone ruined by rhino lining the whole thing white and the original engine was been rebuilt a few times before I ended up with it and even when it’s running perfect it could use at least double the horsepower the original engine is capable of making?

There's a guy who stuck an LSX in a Willy's flat fender and put out a few videos of him on the drag strip. 1000 horse power in a 2000 lb vehicle is a crazy thing to see.

Here, I found a video of it driving around. He blew the engine up in it a few times so there's a few different videos of it with different engines, at this time he had it built to about 1400 HP

What percentage of Scrambler were Laredos? I think one time you said about 20%. I have a ‘81 Scrambler SL (SLR) Color Code OM - Dark Brown Metallic, Nutmeg Accents, and Factory Air. That means that I have one of about 1600 SL, but I haven’t seen many (if any) OM - Dark Brown Metallic Scrambler Laredos. Happy to be taking it back to its original color.

I've watch a number of your jeep videos and agree with everyone that you're incredibly knowledgeable on the subject, but I don't recall you ever mentioning the 'Levi' edition of Scramblers. Back in '84 I bought a 1981 4 cyl/4 speed, blue Levi edition, complete with denim seats and soft top, hard doors, chrome grille and 'Levi" decals. Can you tell me more about this model? How rare were they? Any around these days? Thanks to anyone who has any answers.

I had a black Scrambler Laredo with tan roof and interior. Came with wood side boards on the bed. Loved it. One day my wife and I were cruising through a local park with the top and doors off, and some guy yells, "Get a real Jeep". He must feel pretty foolish now if he's looked at the current values of Scramblers, LOL.
