Good video ! With my 633 and peak4 3m² I need 18 kn to get going. (87kg). The V4 in small sizes has the tendency to backstall, really have to depower it all the time. in the right conditions (enough wind) very nice kite.
We are about the same weight. I would do a bar check since these smaller sizes are super sensitive to things like that. Also if it's been awhile do a mixer test. I can get the 3m going around 12/13kts with the right conditions and at 15kts no problem on a 90cm board.
@@yannickver Mixter test is like all the other FS foils with the "short" mixer test. You can make marks on it to do a long mixer test but I wouldn't bother as much. I would do a bar check first.
@@adventure-logs my bar is checked and is perfect. I use an ozone bar. On my peak 5 Ihave to depower a bit, on my peak 3 I have to depower a lot to avoid constant backstall.
Hi nice video. I am 80 kg and I am in doubt about the Hybrid size for me. Wind in my hometown is 10-20knots, I have two large wing foils (1000-1225cm2) and a big board (39L). Which Hybrid do you recommend (5.5 or 7.5)?
Looking to get a peak5 82kg trying to decide what size don't really want to buy multiple kites I'm thinking the 4m I'm not a advanced kitefoiler but I'm def a intermediate or should I just go straight to the 2.5 what would be the wind range on the 4 or the 2.5
Really depends on what type of conditions you want it for. The 2.5m really is a high wind kite while the 4m will have more usable range. Also the Peak5 2.5m is unique on how it produces its powerspike to get up an foil. The conditions here in the video really is the ultimate low end for it.
I’m inspired! But I don’t know what I’m inspired to do! I’m a 1 year foiler 84kg using a 9m Chrono v3 as my light wind kite which works fine in around 9-10 knots, if I want to go out in lighter winds what would you suggest? (1. Practice or 2. Splash the cash on a Peak/Hybrid OR 3. Eat less pies)?
Sub 9kts is gonna be difficult. That's right kinda at the cutoff and everything has to be perfect to be able to ride under that. The Peak is nice because you can get the same power out of your 9m Chrono with like a 4m Peak so it's just more fun and playful to fly. Eating less pies always helps lol. The Hybrid isn't going to get you much more than you Chrono and you'll need a similar size. I say practice!
@@adventure-logs just a side note, I chickened out and bought a used 12m Soul 2… I’ve found buying a new light wind kite has been very effective in bringing some great stronger wind TT weather!
Hi, nice video, thanks? I am 80 kgs and I have an Armstrong HA925 and a 39L board. Winds in my hometown are 10-20 knots. Which size do you recommend me? Did you try the new Hybrid? What is your opinion about it?
Been testing out the Hybrid in 2.5m and 7.5m. Hybrid is a completely different kite that flies completely different. If you like a more dynamic kite, then the Peak5 is what you want. Want something more of a Park and ride kite where you can focus on the wave or your board, then the Hybrid is for you. Hybrid has a less powerful loop so produces less power than the Peak5. At 10kts, the 7.5 Hybrid should do you well. If you have good skills, you can do 10kts out of the Peak5 6m.
Great ! Cheers from Brazil. I love to bodydrag down wind, i have a UNIQ TR 2.5 from Peter Lynn and im looking for a powerkite that can jump out of the water, my weight is 60 kgs Any sugestions ? Thanks
What’s your weight and what was the wind speed here? Foil type and size you’re using? I’m guessing it’s a big super lifty one to get you going on a 2.5m. The wind doesn’t look like it’s over 12 knots!
Ah I see, thanks! On my phone, didn’t notice there was more lower down in the description. 15 knots with a 2.5m is pretty impressive! Wow, I may have to try that when I get better at foiling.
@@hahn8552 The current and swell have a lot to do with it. If it's working against you it's pretty difficult but longer lines do help. Need to do more of a horizonal oval to keep the kite in the wind window to get up but once you are up and foiling it's no problem.
Whats the most wind you could take the 2.5 out in comfortably on any craft ie twin tip or surfboard ? Im thinking of getting one myself for when 30knts + as i only have a soul 7m and it gets pretty hairy at 30knts. Im 85kg
I have no idea but it has to be pretty high. The only problem with this size is it's so fast you might drop it in the water. If I haven't been riding it in awhile it takes me a little bit to get use to the speed again. If you are looking for a good high wind foil, you might want to look at the Hybrid 2.5. You lose about 5 knots off the bottom end compared to the Peak5 in the same size but it's relaunchable and I think more tame in really high winds. Both the Peak and Hybrid won't be as fun with a twintip/surfboard though especially compared to the Soul.
what strength wind was it 150 is my wight blowing 15 /30 gust go not get going kite would stall out when it did pull center line come back up put five meter over powerd should I get a four
I usually put wind strength and weight/equipment in the description. Sounds to me like the kite is back stalling. The 2.5m Peak is very sensitive. I'd do a bar check and next time don't trim out as much. Should help with the back stalling. At your weight 15th should be pretty doable unless the current was working against you.
@@robertrecco710 ah ok. I always recommend a bar check first because it's the easiest thing to check first. If they are all equal with the kite trimmed for full power with bad fully sheeting in then you are good to go. The KISS bar doesn't have a depower correct? If not you are just sheeting too much in for the 2.5m. Next time to completely pull the bar in when you try to get on foil. Also you need to loop these normally to get going. IF you bar has a trimmer, next time set the trim like midway and see if it helps.
@@robertrecco710 nice! Yea the 2.5 is very sensitive and needs some skill to get the most out of it. With my Moses 633 I can get up and foiling right around 15kts but it took practice to get to that level. You'll love the 4m I'm sure. Hey, most definitely I would recommend the 7.5 over the 5.5. The Hybrids don't produce as much power which is why you need the larger size.

For jumping a single skin really isn't ideal. Look at a small Gin Marabou2 or a small Flysurfer Soul.
