@@kshitijdesai6327 he's a man no more. It's an everlasting hunger, a wound in the Force. It's like nature itself collapsed in an empty void, the black hole.
Darth Nihilus, The Mother, and perhaps The Blackwing Virus, are sad Legends-era reminders that Star Wars could've had some great cosmic horror elements.
At least Blackwing is still considered semi-canon.
Eh, I prefer it without them. I think it's better served by it's western, fantasy, and military scif-fi sides. Nothing like a fiercely fought lightsaber battle for the fate of the galaxy, or a showdown between bounty hunters who this galaxy isn't quite big enough for the both of.
Mnggal-mnggal
@@zoro115-s6b It's a big enough universe to fit all of it in. Abeloth/The Mother, for example, served as an interesting way to force the Jedi and Sith into an uneasy alliance and bridged the post-RotJ era to the Clone Wars show and showed that Anakin's actions on Mortis had genuine consequences.
@@KrisFrost4359 But merely by existing, cosmic horror threats reduce the impact of anything else. It gets into power and threat escalation territory, and it makes it hard to worry about space fascists when Cthulu is waiting in the wings to devour the whole universe.

Horror is the right word. You don’t get more terrifying than Darth Nihilus. Malachor V spawned some unspeakable horrors, and Nihilus was by far the worst of them. If Meetra Surik hadn’t stopped him, Nihilus would’ve devoured the entire galaxy.
Honestly i don’t think “horror” quite covers the Dark Lord of Hunger. Don’t think there is a word.
@@chrisvan2688 Not in Galactic Basic, at least...
Yeah horror isn't really the word, I'm thinking that "if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced"
Nihilus would be the silence.
There are no words in Basic, Huttese, Mando'a, or the many other tongues spoken in the galaxy that would describe the horror that was Darth Nihilus.
Not Horror. Death.
"It is because he sees planets, stars, not people. To him, the planet below, the station with its teeming life, only that is massive enough to demand his attention. There is nothing to be done except wait. If you go to him, he will destroy you, and your last moments will be of shadow and pain. There is nothing to be done. Nihilus exists to prove that the Force is fucking terrifying.
@@herpesinflammation And is an example that the Dark Side is objectively speaking the stronger one
@@herpesinflammation I would not say that. Nihilus proves that that the absence of the force is destructive. Remember that he is a wound, naturally sucking up any place and person with the force. He is a black hole. He proves the point that if the force did not exist within the galaxy, destruction would be sowed throughout.
@@kevvvscience3389 I respectfully disagree. Nihilus' existance as well as the efect that he has on other lifeforms were only possible due to the way the force itself interacts with life in the galaxy. So yes, the force *is* terrifying, because if all the mindfuckery that a skilled force user can inflict upon a person wasn't bad enough, the force can make monsters out of any individual, be it like Nihilus and the rest of the Malachor wounds, or Abeloth, or any other abomination that i'm yet to become aware of.

Kotor 2 had the best villains.
The Triumvirate were terrifying, each in their own way.
The Lord of Hunger, a literal hole in which all existence come to vanish.
The Lord of Pain, an immortal body held together by hatred and bloodlust.
The Lord of Treachery, a being able to perceive and influence the galaxy, as one plays with a pond.
Even if those weren't Sith, they were without a doubt some of the powerful and memorable characters of the Dark Side.
And of course, that says something of the Exile, who snuffed them all through deception, insight, and sheer power.
To be fair, the Exile cannot take all credit here.
Is was Kreia who manipulated everything to kill Nihilus and The Exile had the one advantage to be able to stand against Nihilus(be a Wound in the Force) and the Exile still required Visas and Mandalore to beat him.
The Exile required HK-47 and Kreia's advice to kill Sion. Else it would have been an eternal battle.
The Exile did beat Traya, but only after she had completely fullfilled her plans.
@@juanlaise1059 It's true that the Exile isn't self made, they required a mentor and peers, but like everyone. It is standard to need help, and even if Kreia manipulated events as to create opportunities, only one person in the galaxy could actually exploit them.
It's true that destroying Nihilus requiered a precise tyke bomb, but as you said it only did half the job.
I'll admit that he Exile didn't actually beat Kreia, but she didn't go down without a fight either, and mopped the floor out of the entire crew single handidly. While the Exile didn't beat her in the conspiracy and subtlety departement (although they did pass her test by convincing Sion to die), they did showed pure martial prowess in fighting her.
@@Contevent The Triumvirate wasn't self-made either. Epic Heroes have as much help killing Epic Villains as much as said villains had help getting them there in the first place. All of them started as Padawans at some point, either in the Dark, or the Light. That being said, the key to great heroes, are great villains.
"The Lord of Hunger graces us with his presence! Rejoice, for we exist only to be devoured for his ascension! He is perfection while we are imperfections meant to be cleansed! All life must be destroyed to feed him and with it, eternal peace in the galaxy! Rejoice, for the glory of Darth Nihilus, the Lord of Hunger is with us!"

Reminds me of Ebony Maw from Infinity War- it fits with Nihilus really well though
More or less what happens with Dracula in Castlevania.

*Nihlus* : "Hah! Lol. Planets are nom-noms meant for eating, not ruling. Mmmm, Taris looks tasty today."
And then he was killed by plan set in motion by his former master
What’s interesting is that Kreia would have greater respect for bane and sidious as she hates those who rely to heavily on the force since it is not truely their power, whereas those who use cleverness and guile she approves of

i like that quote. i would want a show that explains his backstory
What we do know is that he was once a Jedi who fought in the Mandalorian Wars. He turned to the Dark Side, and through the barren power of Malachor V and Traya’s teachings, became the monster we know today.
@@justincummings8557 sounds like some other old republic sith
@@omuhgordo fact check me via the wiki
@@justincummings8557He wasn’t a jedi and he didn’t fight in the mandalorian wars. He was a pacifist. A force-sensitive farmer on Malachor V who had family and friends. Unfortunately they were all caught in the crossfire of the mandalorian war so he tried to protect them and get them to safety but sadly the mass shadow generator killed them all. All of that sorrow, pain, loss, and anguish broke the man and he became a wound in the force, thus turning into Darth Nihilus
He was a nobody that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He could literally be anyone.
Imagine this: You're an Old Republic trooper sent to investigate an unusual loss of contact at a remote station. You go with five other squads and two Jedi.
You land in the hangar where something happened and make your way through the halls, the only illumination coming from sparking wires, the Jedi's lightsabers, and your flashlights. Then you hear it. breathing.
A red lightsaber sizzles to life and you see that mask. The white and red mask of Darth Nihilus.
That would make such a cool survival horror game.
A short one too
How to make it more twistedddd, you're the sole survivor who wanders about to escape from Nihilus' grasp.
After much torture of physical and mental damage from him using the force, breaking apart your sanity, you were able to win, and make it out alive.
After being the only one to report what happened, you're now told and shown of what Nihilus was capable of, realizing you were not being hunted by Nihilus, you were being toyed with, and were simply the lucky one who was allowed to tell the story.
@@popcultureenthusiast5587 keep it TWISTEEEED
@Cold Rain that's not what I meant, but ok
What possible reason does Nihilus have to draw his lightsaber or torture a nobody? I get that budding writers want to feel dark and edgy, but that's not the Nihilus style. Assuming you're worth feeding on he'd just snuff you out instantly without raising a hand.
_-Condemned to vague across the space since the end of the Mandalorian Wars, the best way one could describe Nihilus was as a phantom.....a phantom of death, at least for those who managed to survive an encounter with him. Wandering without a certain direction, yet, with determination. Wandering with a dark cloak, with the calmness and the demeanor of a Castle Lord, his presence was all that was needed to impose his figure over everything in rooms._
_-Little they know that under the cloak of deception of the mysterious Lord, resided in a dormant state an insatiable predator. A predator of souls, something that even made the already known over-natural beings that existed already pale in comparison to him. But even with all the power he craved and had, also the hunger urges that drove him to act, he knew the importance of cautiousness. With experience, not only his power was "in crescendo", but also his tactics and intellect. He understood the importance of stalking in the shadows, he understood the importance of patience, something that some could have considered, at the very least, "strange" for a being that rivaled the ranks of other Sith Lords._
_-But there was the evidence. There is no better manipulation to try to side with your prey, while in reality you are eating away his soul. Is marvelous to see how they start to panic in slow motion, trying to answer their questions with answers created based to clues, only to never realize quickly what was really happening in the moment, don't you agree?._
------------------------------------------------------------------
*An awkward silence disseminated through the room. Only a dark aura envolved it, accompanied with sounds that could only serve to intimidate and scary the tempering of others living beings for equal, with a crimson red light that slowly was making his way into the flesh of a corpse, with the mask of the phantom that embed the idea of a Grim Reaper centering his attention on you*
*A little sigh came from the mask, while shrugging his shoulders, the shoulders of the dark cloak that maintained it at float*
------------------------------------------------------------------
_-Nevermind, I was not expecting to see that your person understands all of this in the precise moment that competes us. Perhaps, you can reflect on it in the afterlife, now that the candlelight of your soul has burned itself out. Now, I, the Lord Of Hunger, wish you a good night...._
------------------------------------------------------------------
*Said Darth Nihilus during a profound night, while the last elements of the soul of your person, a Jedi Knight, were drained out from existence as he spoke in third person about his own story, meanwhile the Lord Of Hunger ended his "new drawing" in the corpse of your closest friend in the order*
------------------------------------------------------------------
_-What a horrible night to have a curse, some would say....._

A Darth Nihilus movie would be the best horror movie ever. An insane sith who died and possesed his own mask who then attempts to kill every living thing in the universe!
"The World Eater" a star wars horror film.
"The Hungry Hacker"
Out of all the Sith that have ever been. Nihilus is the only one to truly evoke fear just by his name alone.
Yo I literally just finished my first play through of Kotor 2 yesterday, it’s such an excellently well written story and Nihilus is so memorable from the moment he’s introduced. What a great surprise, keep up the great work
Bruh, my favorite sith of all time, he is soooooo cool
i think we can all agree on that
We always think about how coming up against Vader, Maul or Kylo would be a terrifying experience...but just try to imagine hearing 0:01 and seeing this guy standing at the end of a dark room...I don’t care if you’re with 20 Jedi Masters, you will literally be frozen in fear...
And soon be corpses
Or worse be haunted for the rest of your life by this encounter
Even if those 20 Jedi were so much to as meet, they would be dead, concentrations of force sensitives draw him and entire planets we wiped out because a group decided to meet.
This is why Nihilus wouldnt actually work in a horror setting, he has no reason to be in the dark room with you, he doesnt even need to be standing on the planet with you. If he can sense 20 Jedi Masters he'll just extinguish them instantly and feed on it. Dramatic but instant, no creeping horror or theatrics.
@Mudrika Singh This is why I actually approve of Disney referring to this stuff as Legends, it gives them the freedom to adapt them later if they want to and change stuff like this which would actually make it more interesting. If they called it 100% canon then they wouldnt be able to adapt it unless they revoked the claim later.
Nihilus and Abeloth: horror in the Star Wars universe
I'd imagine if Abeloth had a theme, it would be pretty and creepily Lovecraftian
The fact that it took both luke skywalker and darth krayt, two of arguably the most powerful force wielders ever to beat her, just shows on how strong abeloth is
@@MigIgg yes she is a eldridge abomination
@@MigIgg yet all they did was just seal her in another realm for some time at most, truly showing her power.
Loving that voice at the beginning.
I never realised how Nihilus having just the alien words diminished his character. Imagine that presence, speaking to Visas.
Hearing his words is a massive boost to the character.
The Sith are emotion. Fear. Anger. Hatred. Yes, of course. But also contempt. Bitterness. Regret even. Sith should be emotional. They should be relatable.
A fear of the inevitable nature of death, creeping closer to you as you age, and your body withers, the years stripping away at your flesh, and eventually your mind.
The sheer dread at losing the one you love most of all.
The desperation.
The Triumvirate are all Sith who should have died in the Mandalorian Wars. Sion. Nihilus. Even Traya. They were Jedi, or at least force sensative, exposed to the Mass Shadow Generator, who saw a brief moment of sheer pain and horror so extreme that it ripped a hole into the Force itself.
They work as Villains, because the Exiles entire Arc is built around how they reacted to that same phenomena. The Triumvirate are your mirror. You were all forged at ground zero of a weapon of mass destruction.
There was a line I really liked in Avengers Infinity War, which I thought summed up the Sith really well. "To know what it is like to lose, to know so desperately that you are right, and to lose all the same. Its frightening." Thats the kind of thing that creates a Sith. A Good Sith is a little like the Joker. Shown something, experiencing something, that leaves you just... broken.
The Sith are broken. They cannot function as human beings in society. They are paranoid. Desperate. Hateful. Emotional.
All things that everyone has been at some point.
Who hasn't lost someone? Who knows what they would do if they were truly desperate? Would you devour the flesh of a friend to survive? Would you kill a pure innocent, to protect the ones you love? Would you pull that leaver, flick that switch, press that button, to allow something unspeakable to occur to someone else, so long as you defending what was yours?
The Sith aren't "Right". I can't be doing with any of this "The Joker was Right", or "Thanos did nothing wrong" bollocks. The Sith don't represent a viable worldview. They are destructive and self consuming.
But I think a well written Sith is one who is relatable.
What would you kill for? What would you die for? How far would you go to avoid death? An easy enough question to answer when you are 20 something in a philosophy class. A much trickier prospect in your nineties with the reaper at the door.
And their survival of the fittest mentality isn't exactly alien... Just look at how most economies function, or the US's healthcare system? Where the weak die off, and those deemed a burden on society are left to die? Wrong, certainly. Tragic even. But for many a fact of life that cannot be altered.
The Sith are an interesting villain because they *aren't* alien. They aren't a weird philosophy. They are perfectly ordinary, human emotions, taken to their logical extremes. I think that makes them hauntingly fascinating.
Nihilus is one of the best of them. All consuming. Unstoppable. And why shouldn't he? If he can take what he wants, why shouldn't he exist at the expense of all other forms of life? There is no mercy. No order. No law. Except what you make.
Nihilus is the ultimate expression of the worst aspects of the Sith. And the Sith are the ultimate expression of the worst aspects of humanity. Consuming all, with no regard for those around you, or anyone else.
A wonderful villain.
I massively disagree, he's supposed to be this character that can barely be described as a man anymore. Just an endless hunger, a wound, scarcely even Sith since he'll just feed on all those once the Jedi are gone. To hear him speak in booming english and pathetically brag about how badass he is, is a complete betrayal of his character. Imagine if Vader just stood around talking about how cool and evil he is? And Vader is far more human than Nihilus.

Nihilus and Abeloth are the two most terrifying force users the galaxy has ever seen.
I love how you layered in the 2003 General Grievous theme as well. Very well done
Death Nihilus was the embodiment of the dark side
yeh because he didnt rly care for the sith but he caused anarchy and suffering which is what the dark side is about not just following the siths rules
Darth sidious too, and even more powerful than nihilus
not was he is still alive in the world of malachor 5
He wasn't though, he was beyond the Force itself, a wound in the Force, an anomaly, just pure hunger.
Damn right I am
Darth Nihilus is beyond terrifying. It is oblivion incarnate
How has this still not broken a million views!? If Obsidian actually petitioned Disney to make a series following KOTOR 2 and made scenes with Nihilus, this would be the perfect track to go with him. This dude is essentially Star Wars equivalent to a Lovecraftian Elder God, as he is so mysterious in his upbringing and his power to drain the life of multiple planets is true Cosmic Horror! Granted Disney would **** up with him, but if Bioware and Obsidian actually took control of the entire project, then I think it would be enough to save this franchise from Disney's mess!
Edit: Also I don't know if you already did one, but a Malachor V cover would also be incredibly haunting as well!
I love that sound from grievous’s ‘03 theme, nice touch
This is not lore accurate, he can’t speak Basic anymore. Gesh Samuel....
I’m totally kidding, thank you for more KOTOR, both games have beautiful soundtracks:)
It could be a translaition to what he says tho
I have a harder time swallowing the idea that this wound in the force that's barely even a man anymore would go around bragging about how badass they are, than their choice of spoken language haha. Imagine Vader walking around going "I am the mightiest, most strongerest bad guy of all time! Bathe in my darkness!", cringe move.
@@MikeHesk742 Let's be fair. Vader makes plenty of badass comments, especially in the canon comics, albeit most of them are pre-mortem one-liners (i.e. the comments he makes to someone before he un-alives them).
Sith now: I don't like sand
Sith then: I'm hungry, I'm gonna eat a whole fcking planet
(For the comments changing my errors, I'm doing comedy but thanks for the data 😅😅😅)
*slurp*
Both of them pale in comparison to the power that is the high ground.
Vitiate was like nihilus, but nihilus had the plus of being a wound in the force
@@lsthero5863 Are you sure?. Nihilus was a slave for his own being as such as Anakin, but Vitiate/Valkorion is totally different. He has mastered the force. He can Eat an entire planet because he wants to, but Nihilus because of his hungry. There is no comparison.
@General Grievous But Sidius did not Create a new Empire such as Lord Valkorion, who was consider a God, also take care of their people. He mastered both sides of the force. Sidiud only the dark one. And saying that Sidius was the greatest Sith ever lived is a mistake. Valkorion Has already conquered the Galaxy Twice, spendt more time as a Emperor than Sidius. So, there are many Details that Become Valkorion more complex and Attractive than Sidius and also Dangerous.
Meetra Surik: "How many souls have you sucked away to feed yourself?"
Nihilus: "I don't know. How many breads have you eaten in your life?"
Meetra Surik: "NIHILUUUUUUUUUS!!!!"
“Something far worse has happened to you.” - Obi wan Kenobi
I always thought Nihilus’ character was interesting, he seems to be this ominous, powerful entity rather than a human. The way he speaks and his force abilities are unusual. When I was younger and played KOTOR2, he spooked me.
his dialogues had no subtitles h.
Finally! My favorite "Sith".
I love that you used David Near's voice!! I have been a fan of his dub since it came out and to see it in action here is EXHILARATING!!! Keep up the AWESOME work, Samuel Kim!
"The less said of that one, the better-even a stray thought may draw him." - Kreia.
Just as I was discussing about Darth Nihilus with a friend, you publish a new theme, and it's about him. Incredible work, mate!
Hes like a black hole in the force.
I love it.
Thanks for using David Near's Darth Nihilus voice in this. It really adds another layer of terrifying to it.
Emperor Palpatine - I am all the sith
Darth Nihilus - Hold my beer
In my experience as a Star Wars apologist, I’ve found people that don’t realize just how much of a threat nihilus was to the galaxy , and the Star Wars universe as a whole. The force was present in both the galaxy known to the Star Wars lore, and the galaxies beyond the unknown regions. Few people know this. Had nihilus gotten his way, he would’ve consumed every living being in the universe. He had no weakness other than another wound in the force. His drain was not force drain, so none of that stuff about certain people being able to resist it. It took all the Jedi that ever lived to stop an OP sidious in the comics, but , without another wound, all the Jedi in history wouldn’t have been able to stop darth nihilus, in his galaxy, or the others that comprise the universe.
It had to be someone who was dead to the Force, after Meetra's action in the Mandalorian Wars above Malachor V, Surik cut herself off from the Force. She couldn't feel the Force despite her Jedi training and it took being linked to Kreia to even start to feel the Force. But Surik was hearing the Force through Kreia, not feeling the Force by herself. That's why, if Meetra Surik failed to kill Nihilus, the universe would have been Nihilus fodder
@@mcstriker dead to the force to an unnatural degree. We’ve seen people like Ulic Quel’Droma or kreia be cut off from the force, but what happened to meetra and nihilus was more than just a force removal-it was a deep and terrible wound :D
@@SalvationIsInChristAlone technically, there is only 1 wound created, and that's Nihilus, but Meetra created that wound by the massacre she caused. She was dead to the Force because she turned away from it. As far as we know, she is the only to have ever done so
The scariest part is that Nihilus could literally happen again.
I think what makes the KOTOR 2 sith so interesting is the fact that they don't even try and portray them as 'the biggest and baddest siths to ever sith', yet they immediately invoke the more terror compared to most others. Kreia goes out of her way numerous times to point out the major weaknesses and flaws of Nihilus and Sion, that their power was shallow and not worth trying to emulate. With Nihilus we are told that he is not only a slave to his own hunger, but that he will pretty much cease to be if he is not able to feed on the force.
"All life exists simply to sacrifice itself to me" chills.
Ahhhh darth enchantment table, i missed you buddy!
Wow. You can literally feel him starring at you through the force with growing hunger inside him while listening. An amazing piece of music.🔥
"You...
"You are the darkness in which all life dies, milord.
"All life...
"All life exists to feed your power,
"And my life...
"My life is yours."
Spoken like a broken slave to a being that is no longer a man...
Having never actually played KOTOR 2, I was NOT ready for his voice to be that terrifying.
I am running a TTRPG set in the EU right before the events of Kotor 1, I have a cameo by the Jedi who will be come Darth Nihilus; and this music will definitely be on my playlist for setting that scene. the opening sent chills down my spine.
I would love to see a horror series about Nihilus with this as the theme
I've been waiting for something like this for years...finally, it's here!🔥
He is hands down, my favourite Star Wars character. All hail the Lord of Hunger!
I think I need professional help... I've been listening to this on loop for hours and I'm not bored of it yet.
I love that you added some of 2003 Grievous' theme.
This is actually terrifying, especially since I had him appear out of no-where during my modded Stellaris game and I legit almost had a heart attack.
Wait *what*
@@maximumgames2990 Star Wars: Fallen Republic, he appeared just as the mid-game started
@@wilddenbigh That's a feature? Time to install this mod!
@@maximumgames2990 yeah, can't garuntee it happens everytime but what I do know happens is hyperlanes open into the unknown regions so the Chiss can become active and the Galactic Civil war starts
Darth Nihilus, full potential. Is 100x stronger than any Star Wars character yes even Full Potential Anakin. He is the Dark sides purest form. With more potential? He has infinite amounts.
If he wanted to he would destroy the entire galaxy in 1 move if he wanted and also kill everyone in it
Never have I gotten to one of Sam's songs so fast, but for Nihilus, it was necessary.
BY FAR my favorite character in star wars. So glad you made a theme to him. So so SO good.
Darth Nihilus is such a force to be reckoned with. Reminds me of the Tyranids from 40K
Oh I never thought of it that way he seemed more chaos to me but ok
@@Ashley-the-fox chaos tyranid endless hunger?
I forgot how good this song was and you've made it so much more epic!
Gotta love the Sith Lord that is so powerful, he eats planets. Get out of here with that Blowing them up thing. This guy is for real.
Someone needs to make an animation of Darth Nihilus saying one of his quotes then dramatically blowing into a tuba, then running out of breath and doing it again
The most terrifying thing about Kotor 2 is how much the creation of Nihilus is connected to The Exile's massacre of Malachor V.
One of the most dangerous and darkest Sith lords ever existed.
He was no longer a man. He became an avatar of the dark side itself.
The darkness in which all life dies approaches. Prepare to be devoured, Jedi!
Ooooooo I was not expecting this!! Exceptional choice for Halloween! Very well done too
Bruh like I am fine living under Bane, Sidious, Vader, etc but dealing with Nihilus.... no thank you. Fucking far run away as far as you can.
Is it just me, or does Nihilus look like a Ghost Face that was created by Revan of all people and sucks the life force out of entire planets. And the mask, gives me the chills just by looking at it, never mind the voice that sounds like Vader with throat cancer, doused in pure hatred and fear.
That’s Darth Nihilus for you.
Btw, I don’t want to imagine if Nihilus revived during the force awakens. Him and the Starkiller Base would be unfathomably destructive. This guy is basically 75% of all the siths powers combined in one ferricking scary being.
Man he is the embodiment of sinister dark side nature!
Imagine you are force sensitive and running away from this Sith. You gasp and you trip over bodies of family, friends, neighbors, and strangers with the slow, horrifying realization that everyone is dead. Drained. The Force is more hindrance now than aide for it can only tell you one simple damning truth: you alone survived and Death now hunts you because it is Hungry. Still Hungry. You scream, cry, choke and continue to run.
Far behind you walks Darth Nihilus, white mask trained on your distant figure. Silent, silent stalking. There is no noise, no sound of breathing. He doesn't need to rush when every second sweetens his prey with fear and dread. He will feast again. He will consume once more. He walks on through a dead, still wasteland of houses.
That scared the shit outta me
Me: Man, I'm hungry af I think I'll eat a pizza
Darth Nihilus: Man, I'm hungry af I think I'll consume an entire planet
A Planet: **exists**
Nihilus: finally some fucking food.
I must confirm that his voice is badass.
Ive never hit the like button so fast in my life. I was just thinking earlier today that you should do some KoTOR soundtracks. Really knocked it out of the park on this one! Keep it up!
