I just received my card, the first thing I noticed was the ability to obtain Virtual Card Numbers. I can sign up for a 30 day free trial using a VCN and not worry about remembering to cancel that membership- awesome card so far!
@@Jnaszty559It's hidden for some reason. I assume they're trying to phase out out. The only way I have found it in the past is to go to the help section and type in virtual card number. I can't get there using the app. I've only been able to find it on the website using my browser.
@@calbarton I have the 2 Citi Custom Cash cards and I product changed my Chase Freedom Unlimited to a Freedom Flex and I still have the Discover It Cash Back. So where the 5% categories don't fit for me on a certain card a certain quarter, I can put the spend on one of the two Custom Cashes. Also till the end of September, the Amazon Chase Prime card has 5% on groceries, gas and restaurants up to $1000 with activation.

If you get a second custom cash, can you use that for a different category? E.g., first custom cash is $500 max for groceries and second custom cash is $500 max for transit?

That's my plan too. To product change one of my lower Citi cards to another Citi custom card. Throw in a rewards+ in there and woooo now you're playing with power. I do feel drug store might be one of the easier categories to max out if you shop online as you can get gift cards there along with your purchase like Amazon etc.

after looking into it i'm seeing a fair amount of people saying they received a hard pull for each credit card approval. what you could try is freezing your credit reports after the first approval.
It can count as one if you're quick enough. I snagged the custom and another double cash that way. Got two mail invitations for both. Had to call in to confirm to fraud I applied for the second card though. And was all good. Now granted the quick doesn't always work like recently I got mail invites for a diamond preferred and another double cash (they loveeee sending me lots of double cash offers). The diamond went through but the double cash didn't go through. But yeah that's how you do it. I also froze Experian so they could only run Equifax. If not it's a hard pull for both Experian and Equifax.
I have the Discover It Cash back and by pair it up with this and in the future which won't be for at least close to a year, when out of 5/24 jail with Chase, I'm going to get the Freedom Flex so I don't lose the sign up bonus and I will have 2 rotating category cards and when things like groceries are in affect in Q1 2024 on the latter two, the Custom Cash for example will be put from Groceries to something else like Dining or Gas when rotating categories for example is groceries.
The best you will get with Walmart and target is generally always gonna be target card and Walmart card. But I heard good stuff about US bank plus card. 6% but $95 annual fee waived first year
@@calbarton The Rewards structure because I watched Proudmoney and he said it might get nerfed because of those product changing their double cash into it and having two custom cash cards.
5x in one category and 1x everything else is fair tbh. And it caps at $500. There’s plenty of cards way better. It just lets you put whatever niche category you can’t find

If it's your first card I'd say the Everyday is better. Way more solid categories.
Blue cash everyday is better,plus you get the $84 a year credit for Disney plus

The Amex Blue cash card is a better card with its 3 % back it could be your one card for everything
Except Costco, well, the custom cash wouldn't work there either anyway being a master card

It's a great card but that $500 cap is what has stopped me from applying. I still might get one in the future thought 🫡
