    Its a cool bike and like you say 30mph is about fast enough. Anything faster, just buy a Honda Grom which will do 60mph and gets 100 miles to the gallon if you don't ride it wide open. One nice thing about your setup NPL is....your motor is small enough to sip juice versus drink it which is good for range. Honestly, your set up right now is ideal. If making the change to the bike, probably best change would be to add another 20 amp-hr battery in back for twice the range. We all want more range on our ebikes to explore without worrying about running out of juice. Yeah, I know, you want to experiment with more power.....but you've been there before. Once you have decent power, range is really more important. For me about 1700 watts or so is the sweet spot...my fav is the Bafang BBSHD mid drive but hub drives are great too.

      Very wise. I think people over look power sipping geared hub motors too often when doing builds

      Yeah, range means a lot to me. I have a Lectric XP 2.0 that I wanted to have a lot of range and hill climbing ability. So I added 30ah of 48v and a front hub motor that I turn on for hills. Goes a long way and climbs hills well just like I wanted. But of course now I want something faster and more comfortable lol. Waiting for Ariel Kepler now. And you are right about BBSHD. Got one in hardtail 29er and love it. I just wanted a hub bike for errands and hauling dog to river. When I am on the Lectric I feel like a delivery driver. When I am on the BBSHD I feel like a cyclist out for fun. The Lectric ends up getting used the most but the mid drive let's me feel like an Olympian.

      @@jimmyjames8736 Good stuff Jimmy...like your comments. I have two BBSHD bikes now. First build was an aluminum Specialized dropbar roadbike and it flies. Just finished a Cannondale 29'er with the same BBSHD because I so love the power, silence and reliability of that motor and I can't stop riding the thing. The bigger tires of the 29er does eat the battery quicker than the more efficient skinny roadbike tires but the ride quality is so much better on the 29'er. Love both but the 29'er takes the bumps better and I can ride it more in a mtb position versus more bent over roadbike position.
      Ebikes can be pretty variable in riding experience as you explain. Completely agree.

    I have Tannus Armour and FlatOut in my fat tire ebike. 1,000kms so far and no flats. But I'm also careful. I love it.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fat tires seem to be much more resilient against flats. Even with the cheap $50 chinese fat tires i get 3000 miles out of them and never had ANY flats with them, and I am not careful at all. I do lots of riding on the shoulder of the road where there's lots of debris and bad things I'm riding over. My 29er with 2" tires gets flats all the time, even with Maxxis, its like you hit a office staple and you are done buddy, gotta get some flat out in those guys.

    The "Lectric foldable" e-bikes also go 30 miles an hour without all the upgrades, and the bikes only $1,000, plus you don't have to worry about the cables and Battery sticking out..

    • @ronedee
      @ronedee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point is that NPL is maximizing his range and power w/ upgrades. He is still in the experimental stage. The cables and battery are minor issues that will be addressed or ignored depending on the results. And I've done the research; and the Crooked Path has a lot more to offer even in stock form than the Lectric does. I bought 2!

      its kind of ridiculous to compare a 750w bafang G60 with a frankenrunner controller and a 60V 20AH battery, to a stock Lectric bike that has a 48V 10Ah battery and 500w motor on ~ 19A controller, plus lectric has no rear suspension etc. The 60V battery alone costs nearly as much as the lectric. If you were to take both bikes out for a ride there would be dramatic differences

      @@EBikeBuilder_ The 60V 20 amp-hr battery purchased out of China was only $600. I purchased a very similar battery recently...same Reention shark battery case only 125mm versus 150mm height...same 368mm length....but mine had the 21700 Tesla Panasonic cells and was 52 volts and I paid $535 with tax shipped to the US.

    U should get the redshift pedals tbh that will make u more visible and help with lighting your way as well
    100,000 lumens sounds dangerous on the road for other people probably runs really hot too and probably has a fan to cool its too much probably a lot heavier than a more regular bike light 🤷‍♂️

      Lumens doesn't equal light output. Its like fuel economy, just because your v8 drinks fuel doesn't mean its making any power.
      Lux is measured light output, lumens is theoretical including all electricity loss in the wiring/heat generated

    overall the G62 and G60 are very similar. The motor cable has a cleaner exit out the left side of the G62 and its a 10 pin connector, whereas the G60 cable comes out the right axle and is a 9pin. The G62 has higher RPMs and slightly more torque. i like the G62 its a lot of fun but the BBSHD pulls so much harder at low speeds.

      I have researched this a bit. Simplest solution is...keep on eye on your battery voltage of the first battery and before the BMS shuts off the voltage, pull over and connect the other battery. This is better than hooking up both batteries with a splitter because it doesn't sag both batteries at the same time. Also batteries don't have to be identical voltage with this method. Can have a high volt battery for fast riding and a 48V battery for extending your range. One then the other....a simple change in connection....how most do it.
