This is a form of Anomalous Propagation called beam super refraction. This is common during summer months when the ground cools at night and forms a temperature inversion with warmer air aloft. The difference in temperatures causes the electromagnetic waves to bend towards the ground, amplifying ground clutter echos.
Exhaustive list of at least somewhat significant tornado events not noted: 0:45 - January 22-23 tornado outbreak 0:50 - Small outbreak in Texas 1:48 - Leap Day tornado outbreak 1:52 - Huge March 2 tornado outbreak 2:15 - EF3 tornado in Michigan 2:23 - March 18-24 tornado outbreak sequence 2:51 - April 3 tornado outbreak 3:09 - Massive April 14 tornado outbreak 3:36 - Minor late April tornado outbreak 4:09 - Strong tornadoes in Southern Kansas 4:32 - Minor Early June Mid-Atlantic tornado outbreak 8:34 - Mid-October tornado outbreak The Christmas one, the one caused by Tropical Storm Debby, and the one caused by Hurricane Isaac were all noted
Sometimes it is ground clutter around the radar caused by the radar signal bending into the ground. That clutter may be very bright as the signal hits solid objects. See this article at accuweather "Radar Ducting Catches Chesapeake Bridge"
June 29th 2012 OH: I still remember when that storm hit my house, knocked out power for 6 days, I was terrified because I was only 5 at the time, and without power I had to sleep with no light in my bedroom, which at the time terrified me considering power was out, it was almost like a hurricane that formed on land, but it wasn't a tornado, I think if I remember 80 MPH winds.
When I was watching a full screen time lapse composite I thought this would be cool to have the different views at the same time, now after seeing it I think I like the full screen composite better.
The music is credited right at the beginning of the video, at the bottom of the frame. You may have to use the Large Player or go full-screen in order to read it.
I got the admittedly incomplete list of events from various sources, mostly Wikipedia's 2012 Atlantic hurricane season and a Wikipedia page of significant natural disasters in the U.S. in 2012. I actually have the derecho in the list of events to include, but I'm missing images for those dates. That's a bummer as I would really like to see it here. Maybe I'll try TH-cam annotations for the other events.
Happy new year

Hey thanks for uploading this. This was fantastic!

anyone else notice a heartbeat-like pulse in the infrared and cloud cover maps?
@Finding Truth No it actually isn't.

Cool stuff, what is the music used?

Some radar clips you can use as reference should appear. That storm was by far the 2nd most notable of 2012.

WHY HAVE YOU NOT MADE A 2013 AND A 2014 TIMELAPSE! DX

What about the March 3rd and February 29th outbreaks?
Not to mention the June 29th North American Derecho.
When we get into May we start seeing a bunch of little "dots" or "circles" show up-what are these, and what causes them?
Why is the top right pulsating?
Sandy had to be more developed than that.
