I live in WA and we have wind storms going in NW with winds getting up to 60 mph in places in WA. Tomorrow we have wind storm chasers going out. In my location we are already getting gust's up there.

Correct, they’re studying the winds and behavior of the storm, thus they fly into it to “hunt” that information. It’s a very badass job and helps keep all of us informed :)

I just checked the NHC site a few minutes ago and saw that Oscar became a hurricane. Needless to say I immediately came here.

hmmm...hurricane development this year has been like nothing I've seen in my 58 years living in Florida and tracking hurricanes since I was a child
2004 Francis, Jean, and Wilma. I went through eye of all 3. This year is bad , but not unprecedented.

I’ve never heard of a hurricane passing to the pacific and intensifying. Very strange.
