He should have countered them once they get their money back, their equity should have gone down to 10% collectively. So 30 % total upfront, then 10% total after returning the full 100k

Don't worry, I didn't take the offer in the end. I wanted to know what the Peter and Duncan were going to do for their share, their reply was basically "we are the dragons" that wasn't enough for me so I politely declined their offer..

+organicsuperman It means the Dragons (the investors in the programme/show) wanted him to agree to investment simply because they were 'the Dragons'. Peter said that he needed sales, and in order to get sales he needed Peter - which wasn't an answer as to how exactly he was going to get him any sales.
8 times the original equity offer (bumped down to 6) was just madness.

Hi, thanks for your comments, the POWER8 workshop is available for under £300 and contains 4 high quality cordless power tools with 2x 18V 1.7Ah battery packs. I think it represents the very best value and functionality for this kind of money.
The sheet metal parts are 1.5mm Stainless, and I challenge anyone to break them or even dent them in normal use. we have never had a drill press break even after 50,000 unit sales. This product is squarely aimed at the DIY market.

This is where it went sideways for this. I bumped into this video while researching a purchase on one of these workshop kits. Whoever eventually got this going, they went for sales numbers with low credibility retail for cheaply made stuff - mostly infomercial and TV auction sites in the USA instead of traditionally respected tool retailers like Home Depot, Lowes, Sears or working with an established outfit for battery compatibility such as Ryobi or Ridgid which utilizes tools from other companies but the designs are shifted in order to take a standardized battery and then go through major retail chains like Home Depot and Amazon.

The dragons were pathetic. He was very clear about the company structure which wasn't complicated, he was very clear that he was offering them 5% of topco (Peter asking him whether he knows what a holding company is - he should have asked Theo and Deborah that question given how confused they declared themselves) and they were already planning to hive the IP rights into the topco. I particularly enjoyed when Peter said that they got him for 40% and assumed that everybody would automatically think that that was a great deal, this guy asked him to clarify what exactly he was offering, and Peter looked quite taken aback. Also, when Theo and Deborah declared themselves out because they thought this perfectly clear group structure was all too much for them, why are they so emotional, what is all the moral outrage about? I don't know what happened in this case, but I kept hoping that the MD would end up walking out of the negotiations and finding better investors.

I wish I was as smart as Christopher. Impressed! I am a non-religious spiritual artist but it attracts me to see such clever people who are not just good in their invention but also good in the business side of it all. I have my talents of art and design but have no idea about business. Christopher respects the value of his invention and the Dragons just see it as a money making venture. It would help if they realized that talent is priceless. I like the dragons, there is much to learn from them all but nothing is black and white they have their shades of grey. Christopher comes across also as very clear hearted/minded, that adds more value to his inventions. I feel, his inventions will always do well because they have good quality too. Of the little I have seen him here, it makes me believe that he is a perfectionist and would be able to deal with all his partners/shares etc., which the dragons believed was a chaotic idea. They forgot to read the man well- the reason he is doing all that is because he is capable of handling it all. Well done Christopher!

Theres nothing new about the tools, the multifunction tool has been around for years, and unless they are good trade quality tools,(which I doubt by the look of them) it would be hard to compete with the several huge multinational companies who make power tools, including chinese brands. The only thing unique is the case/workbench thing but even that looks cheap and made of plastic, it wouldn't be used by tradesmen. Might be ok for the home hobbyist but any half serious hobbyest would have a drill press. Looks like a cheap gimmick to me. I doubt many people would buy the tools just to get that plastic box thing.

"feels like a toy" Have you had a go with one? Please use one before you judge.
Saying that, I can understand your point of view, as I've mentioned before, for the price you really are getting the very best value for money. If you are a Pro user, your proberly used to speding a lot more on tools. We are currently developing a Pro version which will compete against the Brands you mention.

I really hope it is a true professional system because after 33 years using power tools I do mean well and it would be great to have a British product that can truly hold its own in the real world on the job site.
P.S how about making a circular saw that can be quickly swapped from left to right handed so we can all see the cut line easily? ( Nobody else seems to have tackled that one) :)

Power is fine but it's just one factor... A tradesman is looking for something that will survive a drop from 6ft, a battery that still holds it's charge after 12mths and one that doesn't die if you leave it overnight on site or in a freezing cold van. A tradesman needs tools with good torque, precise speed control, robust clips on batteries, rugged connectors to guides and accessories and for the controls to not be flimsy or fiddly.
They also need to know that spares can be bought for that tool (brushes/batteries/keys/blades etc) for at least the average lifetime of their ownership (say 3yrs)
They also need to know that spares will be available from multiple vendors and not just direct from a manufacturer. If I need a part or accessory I want to pick one up from the trade centre or at least a designated service centre who is holding stock that is available next day by courier or same day at the counter
If it doesn't do those things then it's a hobby tool and if it's a hobby tool its a fickle market. Home users will buy cheap on the expectation that they will only need it once or will expect to buy another cheap replacement in 18mths. If your tool is just a hobbyist diy level level tool then you will be subject to the vagueries of supply and demand, marketing and price and all of your unique, novelty or patent-able clever features will be wasted
I admire british entrepreneurship and invention. We are great at inventing stuff. In my view we will never compete on price with kit coming in from the PRC and should instead be targeting the rolls-royce end of the market like the German's do... We should avoid trying to give people a 12-in-one tool for £200 and instead, produce the BEST 12 tools
You undoubtedly have the technical ability to design the best tools so don't waste that talent trying to be the Deal of the day on QVC

I agree with you. Your speech was very motivational and somewhat patriotic.
I think Great Britain has forgotten it's prestigious roots when it comes to inventiveness and has become much too focused on the competitive nature that has been popularised by the likes of America and China.
Designing products to be cheaply made and mass-produced, just so they will be replaced on the occasional-basis, has turned them into a life-long subscription model for so many of our items.

LOL, I think your missing my point too
Example;the new PRO version of the circular saw has a 1000w 4pole motor, 3.2Ah Li-ion batteries(all our Li-ion packs have Overload/heat protection) and a fully ball raced gearbox. This saw alone, when on sale, will be over £300, but you can currently pick up a complete POWER8 for the same money.
Im just trying to make the point that for the Money you get the best possible quality and value, and for most consumers it more than enough power and functionality.
