I have started putting starling on everything lately - especially my BWO wets. We get those buggers (the green curse) all year round here in NC and VA. Came home from a local tailwater today and realized it was time to bulk up the BWO box with the passing of the Summer Sulphers. I think I'll start with 6 of these.
I would tie it reverse to your method…wind the pheasant fibre body away from you in the normal position so when the thread secures it the tension is in the same direction, resulting in little risk the body unwinds a bit and is less tight or slips and unwinds forcing you to start over! Then rib the body in the counter wise direction! The effect is the same! The trout won’t care! Been tying for 54 years!

Looks great. Thanks for posting this video.... Thanks Alf
very clean pattern ! If you were targeting a PMD hatch, would you still use the Starling or a lighter hackle? Thanks very much

Uses a size 16 starling feather. must be a 16 hook.
Adding a recipe would be really helpful.
Recipe is listed on the video info link. It says "Material List" and takes you right to the whole list with links to buy each material if you desire.
Perfect! Thank you!
Actually, it just takes me to your main page.
