    すげー
That strategy of focusing on the key moments early is great, I sometimes get too caught up in working chronologically

wow I haven't watched your videos for sometime because youtube doesn't show them to me........ and I'm blown away by your video production quality! :o

The piano is a great way to start a composition. I've always thought this because the tones are just so much easier to hear for me compared to other instruments. It definitely helps me when I'm trying to transcribe music, too. I never thought about trying out lower quality to hear what it would sound like before going into more realistic sounds. As for orchestral stuff, I don't really understand it because that's not the stuff I compose.

    Great video with excellent tips!
Always important to remind ourselves that composition and songwriting comes first;how you present it only becomes important when there's a foundation。
These days I find myself more efficient writing everything on a guitar and a plain piano midi editor。It's very easy to get distracted by specific details otherwise。【Which Kontakt libraries to use、Special FX、Synthisizers、Drum samples、Guitar tone、it just never ends】。
10:10 is also something I'm very much guilty of Åhahaha。If you're stuck on something for more than half an hour、 It's a perfect opportunity to just start a completely new project and never finish it 🤣🤣🤣

I relisten to drafts all the time. It's 80% a PSA for myself haha.

Excellent video as always, I do have a question for you, do you think exporting the midi file from the score editor and import it into the daw is a good idea? Is it better to record every line, one after another? I'm currently working on a Sakamoto's inspired album and I crafted some of my musical pieces on the score editor.

Glad you like it Mathieu! Yes, I’d say my updated perspective is that you save lots of time exporting MIDI from you score editor instead of re-recording it into your DAW. Also check out my short about Dorico and how it exports CC1 data for all the dynamic changes you put it. That way, you’re editing CC1 automation rather than recording it as well. These optimizations become very important as you write for larger ensembles.

Do you play in your DAW orchestral instruments, or just import the MIDI and draw in some automation? I found the former took ages and didn't really add much value so now I just do the latter.

Yes I'm a recent convert to the latter, though I think it may be different, for example, if you're a strong piano player and want to record natural sounding MIDI on a piano VST.

Imma be real. Ive been playing piano for over 15 years. I cant read sheet music, so doing the score part actually intimidates me 😅. Can i skip that?

Like I said in the video but didn't spend much time on, feel free to have a lo-fi DAW project serve the same function as a score!

Aww that’s wonderful to hear! As someone who’s sort of the opposite (a bit of an Asian wannabe haha) I’m so glad to hear that the videos are helping you in that way.
