    Seriously the piano sketch was amazing to start with. Very solid.
    I don't know if that's happen to anyone else here but for me the orchestration is the easy part. Creating the original piano sketch is the hard part.

      Me too. I always get stuck in the first 8-16 bars. I don't know what to do next.

      @Ryan Leach should make a tut on piano sketching!

      Your problem is _composition._ Ryan already has videos on that.

    It would be valuable to go through one section and talk about the choices and how they deviate from the sketch. Also seeing that section as the final score as compared to the sketch.

    I like the mutual respect and trust that you two display. Professionalism at its best. And as one who has spent some time with my family visiting Disney parks, you both absolutely nailed the sound.

    Great video! The questions and discussion really informed. I also really appreciate the collaboration between two of my favorite TH-camrs 😁. I’m off to watch the video on Chris’s channel.

    Listening to what you wrote on just the piano was really cool! I noticed some similarities to 'Chorale and Shaker Dance' and also Soarin' / Illuminations. Sometimes it is hard to separate the arrangement from the song itself, so it was cool to hear it the way you presented!

    I used to shelve everything except Strings and Piano, so I totally understand avoiding certain instruments. I just wasn't confident enough to add them effectively. Still nowhere near where I want to be, but miles ahead from where I was when this video went up.
    But man that piano sketch was awesome!

    This was the video that I was waiting for! Great information.
    I think the most important think when we are arranging or orchestrating is Listening.
    In my case, i try to hear all Disney music and try to find some sounds which make that Music different and magical.

    I don't know why, but instead of Disney sounding, it kind of sounds like something from a new Nintendo game. Like trailer music for a new Mario game. Sounds great!

    I really want players to enjoy playing their parts and take care to give everyone something that’s interesting and a chance to be skilful. My mantra is - no boring fill line.

    I can't get over how real this sounds; not just the quality and execution of the samples, but the writing itself from the initial piano sketch really feels like it's pulled straight from Disney or one of the video games you've showcased on the channel. Obviously, you're an experienced composer so I shouldn't underestimate your work, but I'm still very impressed.

    when you say "sketch" 🤣. I'm sure there is a name for it, but I always think of that ending as the "legend of zelda ending". Grandious "these three chords" stuff.

    I got a Japanese RPG vibes from both the piano sketch and the orchestrated ver.

    Am I mistaken or is the transposition / audio being played as treble cleff at the start. The Staff shows a bass but when played I believe its read like a treble cleff - disregard this, my piano was transposed somehow XD

  • @VFXCommander
    @VFXCommander 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I believe it sounds more of a Nintendo type of game rather than a Disney. Being a hardcore Disney fan, I did not get the Disney vibe from the track.

  • @thisislance
    @thisislance 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is the worst part for me, when discussing using CSB for a few notes and then CineBrass for the sustain. I can never get it so that I don't hear the "seam" between the two. I feel like mixing courses I've seen only address making an individual product sound the best, not how to get these to sit alongside each other despite coming from different recording spaces. Getting Teldex "into" AIR is a big problem for me.

    Thanx for the excellent explanation. Could You please share some example part or an example multichannel composition in MIDI, that i could listen to the same piece with different free virtual instruments (sf2) or fully synthetic imstruments (LMMS) how bad would that sound without the knowledge you professional Composers can add? I remember before the MP3 came people listened to midi music on FM windows mutimedia codec or AWE32 sample-based soundcard.

    Question: What's the name of the program used for your piano sketch?

  • @ShaharHarshuv
    @ShaharHarshuv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    He's saying that "lisnening" is the best way to learn but it's not that easy to understand what instruments are played and how they are doubled... especially when you're just starting out

    I'm a nu-bee so my ?? is that when you write/orchestrate for a parade do string sections march in front, back, middle or what in our virtual musical assemblage? Fearless Freddy wants to know.
