Looking forward to tuning in for this one! - I use my Pitch Black on the fresh in league because I like to start my league nights with a few strikes. 2 lanes translates to about a 5-6 bagger before I switch to reactive. Then if the lanes get weird towards the end of the night and folks are splitting, I can go back to my trusty Pitch Black to finish the set with a 5 bagger. I would only go to IQ 78U as a replacement for my PB. In my house, a sport shot is just the 2nd squad in for the night, so it's a transitioned house shot.
From what i've learned in certain conditions balls that have lower hardness tend to recover from pretty much every spot, while instead balls with higher hardness don't get the pocket at all

Awesome video as always are you gonna do more comparisons with his new IQ 78 urethane ball. Can you maybe compare please to the original IQ tour solid maybe the ruby and also maybe compare to the phaseII?
This is at least now the third time watching this video at the very end you said something kind of important with my league coming up at the end of August. I probably will be born on their house shot and it’s definitely on wood Lanes. So this may help me make my decision between the two but otherwise they are both amazing options
500 grit?! Lou, if I put 500 grit on a urethane ball it would dead stop halfway down on the lane!
On my Black Widow Purple I use 8000 grit Polished, on most other urethane's 2000 grit and above for house.
If you can't stand right and pipe urethane straight to the pocket then you need to get out of it and go to resin.
I agree that 78-U will be better for house because it won't read the dry as strongly and burn up in the front like Pitch Black and the core will give it more drive and recovery on misses outside.
IQ-U might be the closest Storm Staffers come to a Purple Hammer. I look forward to seeing Jesper, Simo, Kyle and Belmo using it next year.

Spare Ball on House, but that way if the lanes are oiled "incorrectly" due to whatever reason (the 0.1% of the time that happens) I have another option for a Strike Ball.
I use urethane on THS all the time... but I'm left handed, and the left side is way more wet/dry than the right in my house.
I like urethane on house shots because my revs are super high, also rotation is very high which I've been working on and my speed is not super high most of the time and sometimes it gives me a lot of control that’s not always easy to get with reactive.
Higher rev rates will definitely love this ball on house!
I own a Vintage and a pitch black. Only times I throw them is when I’m facing another urethane thrower or if I just want to piss the other people off haha

@@cyan0xide what should he care what others think? If it's a legal ball and it makes you score, go for it. Check with your teammates and make sure they plan accordingly. I never care what the opposition thinks about my ball choices.

You always seem to have the video comparisons I'm looking for...lol. Great video as usual! Quick question. My 15 year old son is a two handed bowler with higher revs, but only around 14.5 mph speed. It's been hard finding him a ball he can control on dryer lanes. Got him the Zen 801 Gold Label, Hammer Raw (hybrid), and a Purple Hammer Urethane. But, sometimes they are still all just to strong. Do you think one of these two Urethane balls would be a good fit for him on dryer lanes? They seem to both be "weaker" than the Purple Hammer Urethane.... Thank you.
I think so yea but def try LESS surface like 2000 or even 3000 if its hooking to easy! Also would recommend weaker layouts as well
@@LuisNapoles Thank you for responding. I did 4k on the Raw. It didn't really help, unfortunately. And, I didn't touch the others. The purple hammer is already at 2000 grit from the factory. Can I do a 3000 or 4000? It won't hurt the ball? Lol.. I've never sanded urethane... Thank you so much!
I’m going for the IQ urethane or blue hammer but the only time I’d use a urethane on the house shot would be the last game when the lanes dry up, house or pro pattern because my polished Duo might be too early on a dry pattern, but the blue hammer being a non urethane might make a difference, what do you think?
The IQ definitely appeared to burn up completely at the arrows on you until you swung it more at the end. Not sure if its due to differences between the two or if its just because it's newer than your Pitch Black.
