In a sub 12ftlb springer the lighter pellets give the greatest muzzle energy, of the pellets you tested here the Bisley Magnums probably had the least velocity. Testing them to compare the impact on target and the smoothness of the firing cycle is always interesting but the main thing (if you're going to do any hunting/pest control) is to find which pellet groups best.

    • @James28R
      @James28R หลายเดือนก่อน

er, no. the muzzle energy will be the same. i.e. 11.8ish ftlb regardless. at least in a properly calibrated rifle. downrange energy will favour the heavier projectiles.

@@James28R Measuring velocity of different pellets at the muzzle using a chronometer shows you the difference.

Totally true what you said I've always wondered why my hw80 also seems to twang/buzz way less with a heavier pellet over a light one crazy as that sounds and seem to have a less harsh firing cycle even tho I'm loosing about 1.5 ftlb with a 21gr pellet over the more powerful 14.66gr

in my experience those bisley pest controls are unusably inaccurate

I've shot the same pellets, same gun and on different days and had different results?? That's the problem I think with some pellets is the predictable consistency.
I think that the Superdomes and Magnums are the best of the Bisley lot

Try them with the gel wrapped in a pair of jeans.

Probably not a bad shout, something outside would be better than inside the gel

Nicely done video, I have shot air rifles most of my life 57 now, those Bisley pellets in my opinion are very underrated, they are very well made, seem to always be uniform unless the tin has been dropped and perform very well right across the range.
My preference overall is Bisley Super field I have used them in so many rifles with success, I have recommended Bisley pellets to people with quite pellet fussy guns with very good reports back PCP and Springers.
Bisley used to have another pellet in the range called the Bisley Bullet, a shorter than average skirted pellet, shaped almost like a mushroom, I think they weighed around 14 grains, they performed well at high speed, but not so well at sub 12.
A friend of mine used to shoot them from an FAC HW80 with very good accuracy, given that he is an exceptional shot generally, I once saw him take a pheasant with that HW80 at over 100 yards using Bisley Bullets with a clean headshot, then within 10 seconds of that, reload and do the same to another pheasant another 30 yards out. That was with standard HW80 open sights.
I tried them in a sub 12 HW80 but didn't get on with them, although I could shoot reasonable groups at good distance using them in his FAC HW80.
I think from memory that they started getting hard to find around the mid to late 80's, not seen them anywhere in years.
Anyway, thanks for your time and I shall sub to see what your future vid's bring.. Eddie.

Thanks, the HW80 is a big old unit of a gun but is so stable and in this .22 is very nice to shoot. I can only imagine how nice it would be to shoot an unrestricted HW80 and to see the actual potential of it
I've previously only tried the Magnum, very good pellets but yes, the Superfield seems to up there in accuracy that's for sure.
For a 'cheaper' pellet option, I don't think you could go wrong with them?. They're made in the H&N factory or rebranded pellets and the quality is very good.

Over the years I have found that the superfield performed at all ranges inc-: skemy pigeons at 70yds! Inside a barn. I have also used crossman pellets with which I found no discernable difference. My favourite is the magnum which used to run at 10.6 ftlbs UNTIL I resized them to .215"- 5.46mm. Now they are at 11.7ftlbs from my AAs410. The pest control are the bees knees for rats, as they very rarely have to be looked for after such sollid hits. So it is worth testing pellets. But,stay safe and legal!

There is a pellet for all situations and all different guns, it's the fun part trying to find them 😆
The Bisley | H&N | BSA pellets are pretty good if not the same just rebranded?

Changed it up for a .177 and still no joy, but looks real cool when shot in slow mo at 480 frames a second.
I do want to take it to the range and see the penetrating power at distance, 25m and 50m
Good job it's simple to melt down and remould

Bisley pellets are made by H&N and apparently it's as follows?
      Bisley Practice (H&N Wadcutter)
Bisley Pest Control (H&N Crow Magnum)
      Bisley Premier (H&N Silver Point)
      Bisley Magnum (H&N Baracuda)
Even in the UK, it's the same pellets rebranded?
