Love you Ryan, Your goal was to make YT interesting again and you guys absolutly nailed it. It was the best piece of content I've ever seen YT. First time in a long Time I felt inspired by a YT-Story. Even you don't know us, it felt like we gained a funny friend over this 30 days. Thank you so much
I love your message of being content with your life, I can totally relate. There are so many obstacles in everyday life especially right now, and being content with who you are and trusting yourself to overcome the problems is for me a self revelation Thank you for this great podcast episode absolutely love it and can’t stop rewatching to see what else I can learn.
Would be a great episode to discuss how editing techniques can apply to gaming content. I've been putting your lessons into my content over the last year and have seen a huge impact - but its rather strange!
Genuinely just love Ryan and his team's view on redemptive work when it comes to media. It's honestly such a beautiful mindset and we need to see it more on TH-cam. So excited to see what the future of media will be on TH-cam
There's a reason people love Ryan Trahan, just from watching this podcast you can tell how authentic and passionate he and his team are about creating content. The one thing they prioritize is authenticity and thats honestly something that is lacking on youtube. He is being REAL and ENJOYING the process which is something that everyone needs to learn. If you are not enjoying the process you are not going to create good content, simple as that. Thanks as always for the videos!
I've watched a bunch of podcasts with Ryan, but this one taught me the most, from using an awkward silence to not using cheesy storytelling. I'd say he could definitely edit his videos in the MrBeast style, but he wouldn't stand out at all and his channel would probably become another MrBeast copy. It's incredible how he can deliver these challenging videos, but still with the "friendly vlogger" feel.
Thank you guys, this is invaluable. A format for being successful on TH-cam is sitting right in this video with first-hand evidence. 1. Be authentic, realistic and stick to your own style. 2. You can’t unnaturally force anything as it comes across as inauthentic, the audience can see right through it. Ryan being his genuine self is a direct reflection of his success. 3. You have to know when it is necessary to craft a story, and when to just let an experience/memory play out the way it happened. 4. You cannot tell the audience what you want them to see or feel, you have to show them. Let them connect the dots on their own. Don’t tell the lesson learned, hide it within your story. 5. Make something out of love. Creators nowadays are impatient, and you can see too many of them making content for the wrong reasons, such as just to make money or be famous, resulting in a short creator lifespan or burnout. 6. To avoid burnout, listen to how you feel. The most underrated advice is to do what makes you feel happy and fulfilled.
I would agree with Ryan that capturing authentic moments over intentionally trying to create certain bits while filming is soooooo important for vlogs. When I started editing vlogs, I also happened to be filming them for the person I work with, and since it was both of our first time a) seeing each other in-person, b) going to VidCon (we vlogged VidCon), and c) making vlogs, I wanted to highlight who we are as people and our emotions above all else, and I personally was really happy with the way the videos turned out. We both still have a lot to learn about storytelling, so I really appreciate that you highlighted how Ryan and Zach worked it into their penny series. I learned a lot from this episode, so cheers to everyone!
I’m a TH-cam editor as well, I did daily editing for 3 months, possibly more. It’s such a hard hard job! I wasn’t just editing but filming as well. Much respect for these guys tho, they are masters on what they do! 👑
One of my favorite talks on editing yet. I’d always had so many questions about that series and how it logistically worked. This answered all of them. Thanks!!
something that I learned from this video that I really appreciate is to never force your story, let it change if it's changing, and let it be organic. Ryan would not be where he is today if he was artificial and faking a personality all the time and. this is my favorite of all the videos I have watched on this channel. thank you guys for the advice.
I’ve been working as an editor for 5+ years and this info is GOLD. 👏🏻 Ryan’s penny series was incredible and also became part of my daily evening routine (living in Europe), so hearing the creative process and behind the scenes info is amazing!!
I find it awesome how some of the bigger creators take the time to appear on "smaller" channels, it's great to see people not having ego's and think "I'm too good for them, they don't have enough subscribers" so it's great to see
Never considered to create content together with an editor but that changed completely today. Team work makes the dream work. Incredible podcast and insights.
This is amazing. The moment I heard about Ryan's name (from another TH-cam video), I became a fan. Instant fan and believer! Thank you for your amazing work, Ryan! For everyone who wants to know what this video is about, here is a summary: Ryan Trahan started a penny series in June 2022 where he had 30 days to deliver a penny to Mr. B. The success of Ryan's content is attributed to his storytelling formula inspired by film and TV. The key to Ryan's comedy success lies in his editing skills, particularly in creating awkward cuts for comedic effect. The editor behind Ryan's videos emphasizes the importance of fine details like font choices and timing cuts to communicate their unique style to the audience. The video explores the frustration of bridging the gap between spectacle and storytelling in content creation. ✨🎉🏆
I just found this channel, I'm a video editor from Brazil I feel like I won the lottery, I found gold or a book of wisdom The videos are too good, I'll watch them all THANKS! HUGS FROM BRAZIL!
Unbelievable in every way. From the ethos to the professionalism. There is so much marketing on TH-cam disguised as good will. Not here. This is straight up genuine passion and creativity. Gift received. Thank you.
I cannot describe how much these podcasts provide. It is just great to have some people to listen to in order to form the correct mindsets for editing.
So happy this is coming out! Just started implementing storytelling and my video I just posted did triple what it normally does. Thank you guys for all the help!!
Love the new channel guys, a lot of helpful info. Ryan is an all-around awesome guy and really a role model. You couldn't have said it better, he has the healthiest TH-cam channel of all and I'll definitely try to create my own healthy pace. Loved every second of this, keep it up!
The segment on "letting life tell the story" vs planning everything is exactly why I love VICE's 1-star review series. Neither you or the protagonist know what's going to happen and it's relatable.
Great interview! Towards the end you guys almost blame capitalism for how you feel about being expected to work constantly, but at the same time are enjoying the flexibility of capitalism and an open market by setting your own schedule. It's probably the best system we have available looking at history. Sure there are people who play it like it's winner take all but it's not. An example is that say you create something with your skills, like crafting a video or building a home then that thing now has it's own newly created value. That created value isn't taken from someone else's pocket but at the same time it has increased your net worth as far as money is concerned.
So I’ve just started editing for another channel, and this video is ironically the best video editing tutorial without being a tutorial. It’s a mindset. Beautiful vid.
I loved it !! my takeaways : find your structure, have an idea of your goal/story, The harmon circle, Redemptive creation, make the best guft you can and deliver it, Learn how to make the best gift possible (change the perspective on content creation) Thank you all for this gift !!
There are times I’ve felt alone in this TH-cam space and although I haven’t met you guys a feel connected through these conversations. I’m currently in year 4 in this space and I have no interest in fast growth just for the sake of views and money. I want to feel joy while I create and even more once I press upload.
43:00 What a great comment! Laying down perfectionism helped me finally make songs again 🤗 I burned out but I'm trying to progress from the bottem down up again🤗💪
I love these podcasts, I usually don’t sit down long enough to watch/listen to a podcast. But this feels different and fun. I love learning from people’s experience. I have really enjoyed learning the thought process of an editor and how I can apply it to my edits!
OMG!! I really enjoyed this podcast!! what a good talk!! I don't think I've seen something so real in a long time, I loved it. Thank you so much for sharing all this perspective, you guys are amazing!! I'm just starting to edit again, and I can tell that I stop doing it because it doesn't feel authentic I fell out into the theory and rules. Now I feel that this was the perfect video to start again :) love you guys !!
I subbed just because I love Hayden. He has shown so much work ethic it’s insane. Props for this pod boys!!!! Looking fwd to learning about your partner.
The amount of information I have gained by watching just 3 videos on this channel. I could write a book. Now it’s time to engrain this info in my brain.

Thank you for this great podcast episode absolutely love it and can’t stop rewatching to see what else I can learn.
A podcast we did not know we needed
Ryan absolutely changed the game on such a deep level that it has absolutely changed my way of looking at TH-cam from a creator perspective.
The editing breakdowns in these videos are brilliant, keep them coming!!
I love these vids cause they r so interesting and I watched the whole thing
Would be a great episode to discuss how editing techniques can apply to gaming content. I've been putting your lessons into my content over the last year and have seen a huge impact - but its rather strange!
Factual
true

We agree! What a great mindset shift.
A podcast I DID KNOW I NEEDED! I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW HOW THEY MANAGED TO DO THAT
this is the greatest double date of all time
😂

I’ve been working as an editor for 5+ years and this info is GOLD. 👏🏻 Ryan’s penny series was incredible and also became part of my daily evening routine (living in Europe), so hearing the creative process and behind the scenes info is amazing!!
love how your part on “bad storytelling” exposes things that hurt authenticity
Love it. Thinking of the first few videos as a hook is super interesting
I find it awesome how some of the bigger creators take the time to appear on "smaller" channels, it's great to see people not having ego's and think "I'm too good for them, they don't have enough subscribers" so it's great to see
I am an Belgian editor myself and was waiting for this type of content for a long time.
Thank you 🙏

The potential of youtube is endless and It gives me goosebumps.

Great video! The thing is, once people are making millions, then they start talking about "do what you love, redemptive work" etc
Came over from the "deleting this video in 48 hours" huge fan and I'm going to be training myself to edit like a pro prior to hiring anyone on :)
I subbed just because I love Hayden. He has shown so much work ethic it’s insane. Props for this pod boys!!!! Looking fwd to learning about your partner.
