It's always been due to sheer laziness and being inept with doing anything with it, but you make me really want to try. I love all the hairstyles you do. I have dead straight and fine hair and have never been able to curl it. Finally I worked out that if I use setting lotion and cushion rollers I can get it to curl. Took me more than 30 years to work it out 😂
Straight hair isn't a problem! My hair is straight as a board but easily curls if I use a setting lotion and curlers!!! Once curled it's easier to do doos! Setting lotions are still available at any beauty stores.

I love them all. 💕 they are actually more of the 40’s inspired era of when women were still in the work force. A lot of pin up images and posters that we reference come from then and are often referenced with 50’s but are way cuter than the actual hair styles of the 50’s. Love them all!

I always forget to take my hearing aids out before I do an attempt style on my hair. Then I get hairs tied up on the tubing or stuck in my ear underneath my hearing aid ::doh!::
I did a dumb thing and cut bangs against my better judgment and now I'm stuck growing them out again. I wish I could do those hairstyles because they look so beautiful, but it's so hard trying to do waves and rolls on those bangs. Wonderful video! Can't wait to try those styles out!

They wouldn't have used a curling iron in the 40's. They would've used a roller set (magnetic rollers, none of that hot roller or velcro nonsense) or pin curls. Hair was often washed and set once or twice a week, and then they worked with and maintained those curls for the rest of the week (hence shower caps and sleep caps and bonnets, and if the desire was for ravishing curls in the evening, the scarf covering most of the hair. Their hair is carefully pinned or otherwise maintained under those. It sounds hard, but after a couple practice runs, doing roller sets gets really easy - especially if you use the modern convenience of dry shampoo to keep it voluminous and happy all week in between washes. The short answer is you "can" use a curling iron, but due to the very nature of heat styling vs wet setting, the curls just simply won't stay as long (seven years behind the chair doing hair has taught me this time and time again) and you're doing more damage to your hair with heat than using the vintage technique. Try the oldschool technique. Who knows? You might like it. I was surprised to find I really love it. I apply a face mask, remove my gels and do my next set and snack on some wine, cheese and fruit (substitute the wine for something more appropriate if you're underage, of course) or have some lovely tea while I sit under the dryer and get pretty. Having half your look done before you got to bed makes Mondays a lot less awful.
Well this is sad XD. Even this looks like too much work. I’m very lazy when it comes to anything having to do with hair or makeup. I don’t even dry my hair after a shower. Cool video though. You really look like you came out of a time machine.
Very true what you said about getting ready in the mornings for school. Whenever I do my makeup I get super confident and excited and i feel 100x better than days were I just put on mascara and go even though I'm confident with and without makeup. I just need those 45mins to get me pumped 😂

Do you use a curling iron to get the curls in your hair? x
They wouldn't have used a curling iron in the 40's. They would've used a roller set (magnetic rollers, none of that hot roller or velcro nonsense) or pin curls. Hair was often washed and set once or twice a week, and then they worked with and maintained those curls for the rest of the week (hence shower caps and sleep caps and bonnets, and if the desire was for ravishing curls in the evening, the scarf covering most of the hair. Their hair is carefully pinned or otherwise maintained under those. It sounds hard, but after a couple practice runs, doing roller sets gets really easy - especially if you use the modern convenience of dry shampoo to keep it voluminous and happy all week in between washes.
The short answer is you "can" use a curling iron, but due to the very nature of heat styling vs wet setting, the curls just simply won't stay as long (seven years behind the chair doing hair has taught me this time and time again) and you're doing more damage to your hair with heat than using the vintage technique. Try the oldschool technique. Who knows? You might like it. I was surprised to find I really love it. I apply a face mask, remove my gels and do my next set and snack on some wine, cheese and fruit (substitute the wine for something more appropriate if you're underage, of course) or have some lovely tea while I sit under the dryer and get pretty. Having half your look done before you got to bed makes Mondays a lot less awful.

Well this is sad XD. Even this looks like too much work. I’m very lazy when it comes to anything having to do with hair or makeup. I don’t even dry my hair after a shower. Cool video though. You really look like you came out of a time machine.

Very true what you said about getting ready in the mornings for school. Whenever I do my makeup I get super confident and excited and i feel 100x better than days were I just put on mascara and go even though I'm confident with and without makeup. I just need those 45mins to get me pumped 😂
