My grandmother, who is in her nineties, always dresses to perfection. She never leaves the house without "putting her face on." She hoarded "pancake" makeup, or heavy foundation, when it began to be phased out. She now uses Tarte, which is the thickest consistency I could find for her. Although, it's nothing like cake makeup. To find anything remotely similar she would have to purchase stage makeup, and even that isn't to her liking.😊 Heather
Has she tried Max Factor Panstick? That was a very popular heavy foundation that my late grandmother used as a young woman (who would be in her nineties now too) and Max Factor still make it in the same packaging as in the 50s, so it may be a nostalgic thing for her!
The Country Store sells Max Factor pan makeup on their website, Cover FX, Dermablend, Makeup Forever & Bobbi Brown carry thick foundation and stick foundation, also try Besame Cosmetics (they make cosmetics that will make your Grandmother nostalgic).
My mother who is now 88 (and ALWAYS wears makeup everyday) wore Revlon "Cherries in the Snow" with matching nail polish. I never saw her go without makeup or nail polish. She is still very beautiful. Thank you for these historically accurate videos. I enjoy them very much and just subscribed to your channel.
I watch ALOT of vintage tuts but I LOVE this one because, it shows girls (and boys that aren't into the subculture) that the 50s was a very elegant, classy, sultry decade, in the fashion department too. I do my vintage make up every day. I live (currently, hopefully moving to a large city soon) in a small backwards town in the middle of no where with too much snow. But I still manage to find time to look elegant and glamorous even in my parka. I often get weird or dirty looks but sometimes I'll get great compliments and I often get elderly women and men come to me and say stuff like "I looked like you before I married my husband in the 40s!" "I haven't seen young ladies where clothes like that in decades" "Where did you get those backseam stockings, I haven't seen those since my younger days of getting all dolled up for my date!" I *love* those compliments. It makes my day :) I might have a biased opinion on that time period because my Mom was born in 1953 and my Dad in 1939 and grew up listening to stories of the good old days and listening to their music, watching old films with my Mom. My Dad had the biggest Playboy collection I had ever seen (Until a year or so before he died, my Mom liked PB but Hustler was a completely different thing. There was one on top and she threw it all out. I remember watching the girls in it and just saying "One day I want to look like that" I was so young, haha. Anyways, he had every issue from Marilyn Monroe first issues, to the most current from that day. So, now my mission is to collect all the ones I don't have in honor of my Dad and also because I love Playboy. He loved Marilyn, so thats where my fascination with her started and it *never* went away. #rantSorry #RIPjohnLegros
P.S: I know this is a Mac tutorial, but I just have to say as a pinup-y vintage-gal that Beseme makes GREAT lipsticks in rose and red. I especially like #redhotred #carmine #merlot and they look beautifull. In "gold" casing with red vinery. Is that a word? Haha Oh, and the compacts are great too. Especially if you're pale, they case is small and cute so that you can reapply in public. Something that was popular in this time period. It was seen as sexy. Same with causiously checking your garter strap
I just had to say that I also experience these dirty/weird looks when I go out dressed nicely in a small town. I never understood that mentality. I simply cant understand why people get so offended or angry by someone dressing nicely as long as what I'm wearing isn't extremely skimpy or revealing. It's honestly a puzzle. Do they think that we are showing off by dressing nicely?? Is it jealously. I just don't know.
Lucy Lorelei Argh you sound awesome, keep on rocking your vintage style and collecting Playboys. I'm dying to get my hands on some Besame lipsticks, they look lovely. I very regularly dress vintage too, it's just so much fun and I adore feeling classy and a bit unique.
Thank you, Miss G! :) You keep doing vintage you! :) I love dressing vintage too, I get the occasional "where are you going? Why are you dressed like a movie star etc" but I get alot of compliments too. Especially from elders. Like this one lady said "I havnt seen stockings like those since I was a young lady. Where did you get them?" So that outdoes the rude comments or looks. Plus I like not looking like everyone else. Especially in a small city like this, every one just shops at the mall and that stuff gets expensive, and everyone looks the same. I shop online, repro shops, authentic vintage shops online and in my city. Thats what I love about vintage clothes, you can pay 40bucks for a dress, have it fitted and with the right accessories. You look like you spent a ton. Also, I love to look like my style icons and idols. Then theres the hair, so much prettier than straight hair I see. PS: Does anyone know why my spell check isnt working? Its telling me every single word is wrong.
I love this series! The 1940's and '50's are my favorite time periods. The clothes, makeup, & hair during this time period is so elegant and feminine. I wear this look occasionally, and I always receive compliments when I do. You deserve to have ten times the amount of current subscribers! I'm sharing everything.😊 Heather
It would be cool if you did makeup and hair tutorials for countries, like what's seen as beautiful in each country, and what type of makeup is used! I love these decade videos that you do!
That's such a great idea! Add some diversity and cultural enrichment to the beauty and fashion discussion/media on TH-cam! God knows America needs that. Especially now
One of the ads you show is for "Cherries in the Snow" lipstick and nail polish, both of which are in drugstores today - I just bought both at Walgreens a few months ago. It's a pinky red that suits practically every skin tone. If you do another 50's tutorial, consider using actual 50's colors still made today!
Do you know what brand that lipstick "Cherries in the Snow" is? I'd love to purchase it I have a hard time finding red lipsticks that isn't too loud for my skin tone.
+Kiyoto It is Revlon and available all the time ! I still think it is one of the best blue-reds on the market ! I just wish it wasn't so drying ! Of course there are a million of them out there but that one even my girls love and that is really saying something ! LOL
My grandmother wore Max Factor Pancake makeup. She had this huge porous sponge that she dampened and applied the makeup with that. By the way, I still try to coordinate my lips with my nails.
I think I’m going to do my makeup like this for my wedding!! I’ll probably use a soft pink lip instead and I’ll probably do my nails that color too... honestly just so classic and pretty!
This is an incredible concept! I wish I found this channel sooner because I'm so in love. But at least I can binge watch! The historical accuracy is so cool!
Totally agree! Such a classic, stand the test of time look! just LOVE the history portion of these videos...I always learn something! Thanks for the time and effort Z!! xoxo Kristin
Wowy! In love with your video idea based on decade. I found your channel through Kristen Gehm's and I have to tell you...I love. love, love the video idea. Wait! Did I say that already? Anyway....I find makeup history/styles by decade just fascinating. Amazing job!!! I can't wait to watch the next video.
You look amazing, as always. I love this series of retro looks. I remember when I first started wearing makeup my Mom telling me about ladies who wore pancake makeup so heavily that when they'd wrinkle their nose their makeup would crack. She also told me about a girl in her gym class getting hit on the side of the face with a volley ball and for weeks the ball had the girl's portrait on it because her makeup was so heavy it transferred to the ball.
oh my , for me the 40's and 50's was everything, fashion, makeup,cars...all were stunning! The ladies of that time frame who got to rock those amazing looks were lucky ducks!
You are so glamorous! This was fun to watch, because I grew up in the fifties. I remember many women wearing that kind of makeup look. My mother didn't wear a lot of makeup. She had beautiful skin, so she only wore a little rouge, face powder and either red or pink lipstick. She looked so pretty wearing that minimal makeup. I'm looking forward to the ancient Egypt makeup!
I thought that '40s was your best retro video but after this I have no words. Gorgeous!!!! So classy, so beautiful, so original look! Congrats girl! You are always an inspiration to me!
This was awesome! My mom was in the theatre in NY during the 40's and 50's. I still remember her using Pan-cake for YEARS! She loved makeup and wore false eyelashes until the day she died. Thanks for this stroll down memory lane! xo
im in a production of grease right now (i play patty simcox) and needed a reference for my makeup. i love this video!! the look doesn't scream 50s but isnt unrecognizable. it's perfect, thank you! 💖
I really love how in these Historically accurate Makeup videos how you give an good background to the time period both generally and in relation to the purpose of the video.
Love this look! I remember my Mom when I was very little, and she was not a heavy makeup person but naturally pretty...she used Pond’s Cold Cream, a mild soap like Cashmere Bouquet to cleanse her face. I remember her main makeup at that time was Coty’s loose powder in a peachy shade, no concealer, cake mascara, brow pencil with arched brows, and little “rouge”, but had various shades of red, plums, orange -red shades of 💄 lipstick, and never left the house without it-she had beautiful teeth and smile, and it truly made her look so pretty. Later on she discovered Estée Lauder facial oil, that she would wear at night, and used less soap for cleansing! Great tutorial and love this on you, perfect! ☺️💕💄‼️
I love the tutorial but the main reason I watch this series of videos is because of all the makeup history knowledge you bring. I find it so interesting to learn that they liked a full lip and a mask like effect in foundation. Really interesting facts for any makeup addict. I really like how you research the information and deliver it to us with images and examples. I would love to see the 90s/early 2000s à la Britney and Christina. ;) I can't wait to see Ancient Égypt. And also, little bit of trivia I learnt during my british history class at college: in the Victorian era, men recognized prostitutes easily because they were the only ones who plucked and made up their eyebrows and who wore lipstick. ;)
CorailAuxJoues Thank you so much for the appreciation! :) We definitely need to do a Britney/Christina look! Yes, the Victorian era was so unique because normal societal women actually had to hide their makeup purchases; they didn't want any makeup they wore to be noticeable, it was kept very minimal so as not to be associated with prostitutes and actresses (who wore heavy makeup), which were not looked upon favorably at the time! Funny, huh? :) xoxo!
I've watched a handful of your historically accurate videos (instead of graduate reading...) and it did not take me long to subscribe. Not only have you clearly researched these looks well, but you present them well, too! :)
Beautiful ! My favorite era of makeup by far. I miss max factor they had the best eyebrow pencils . My grandma was even a Max Factor model doing shows in the department stores and schools .
I swear, I was meant to live in the 50s Edit* I didn’t think so many idiots and keyboard warriors would “come at me” but look dummies. I meant I felt like the makeup and fashion of the 50s suited me that’s it. So now, if you comment it will be obvious you are just a keyboard warrior and have nothing better to do with your life.
THINK PINK! THINK PINK - Stanley Donen's FUNNY FACE I loved this! And since in the 1950's I used to sit and watch my Mom put on her makeup I can tell you that you got it Absolutely.Right! She used to say when I told her it was like magic."I am turning the witch into the princess" and it IS magic! I just so loved this. Now about Pancake. It was invented in the 1930's by Max Factor for the Movies. And when I was an actor we used to still wear it on stage. It really smelled wonderful and you applied it with a sponge and water. The thicker eyebrows became popular because Elizabeth Taylor refused to have her brows plucked thin as was the style at the end of the 40's when she became a teenage star....And they look Gorgeous on YOU! Anyway on to the 1950's hair... Zabrina you made my day...OH I almost forgot. YOU look as beautiful as Audrey, Grace, Elizabeth, Lucy, and Marilyn. xo
Lanier Smith Your mom is too funny! HA! Ah! You taught me something new! I didn't know Pancake was used in the movies, makes sense though given it coming from Max Factor. And I didn't know that about Elizabeth! Good for her for being true to her glamorous self ... can you imagine her with thinner brows? Not a good look! Thank you for the compliments! Those are some enormously gorgeous women to be compared to! :) xoxoxo!
I just LOVE that your "historically accurate" tutorials are just THAT ..accurate!! It is so important to keep these looks from the past realistic, and also to know the story behind it and WHY they did certain things ...and you are just FABULOUS at doing that and teaching your viewers :D
ughh i love this series with all the different make ups from the century's, thank you for clinging on to the style they did back then and don't give your own feeling to it. i really liked that you sticked on to that. also you look so young. but still, i don't know how to explain, older then i think you are? i don't know. keep on rockin' these vids
Great ! So fun! Had to laugh when I saw the Revlon(Finally.) "Cherries in the Snow". It was my first real lipstick. We were not allowed to wear makeup at school but AFTER school...out came the lipstick !! (Once we were on the bus,of course.) Finally either my Jr. or Sr. year, we were allowed to wear lipstick ! But only that. Oh, and if you looked like a "tramp", you had to take some of it off. "Tangee" natural, was all I was allowed to have and no I keep a tube of it in my drawer for a quick bit of color or because I just want that pink color. Back then it was probably $.50 nd now it's like $16.00 with shipping. Babysitting gave some much-needed money when I was older (15) to buy the coveted Revlon "Cherries...") When I started college (16), I had some rouge ,It wasn't called blush. What a hoot it has been remembering all this stuff. By the time we were married I used eyeshadow ,also. (21) after all it was the 60's !!! Can't wait to see more of these !!
I love this - I love the history mixed in with the beauty tips. It's really impressive that you do so much research. And for what it's worth - you look so glamorous in the 50s makeup!
What a beautiful look! I love the fact that you are researching these & giving us a bit of history with them. Awesome idea, so refreshing & ironically, NEW!!! Will look your other historical ones up too. Great job! , loving these!
I am extremely happy that the historically accurate series hasn't come to an end yet! Since you have done so many already.. I love all them so much, thank you Zabrena!
Beautiful look! Been anticipating the 50s look and I will be trying it :) Your historical videos are informative and interesting, thank you taking the time to make them for us!
I have tried so many "authentic" 50's and 40's looks from TH-cam and I have to say this one was the absolute best! Looked awesome and very 50's without that awful pornstar look that so many of them give you. Wore it to a dinner party and everyone complimented me on it.... Also loved your winged liner tutorial. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Thank you!!! :)
Mom was a teen in the 50's and she loved her red nail polish :D , even funnier , she switched to a natural colour in the 60's and 70 's but my Granny (almost 65 back then didn't give it up ! ) Mom didn't use a lot of makeup as she was allergic to most of it , but she used eyelash curlers and she and granny adored the Max Factor brand and Yardley which used to make MU back then
Wow I'm so happy this series is back! I absolutely love your historically accurate makeup tutorials! So fun and interesting to see why people did certain things with makeup, you just learn so much more than you would from a regular "just do it like this" tutorial. Keep 'em coming! You should do a Beauty Icons series!
Karina DeLuca Exactly! I want you to feel confident wearing a period look and know that it's truly authentic rather than just making up something I think looks good, so thank you so much for the appreciation! :) xoxo!
I have been asking the makeup gods to send me someone like you and they have I love the 1900ths and just learning about makeup history in general. I am just in love with you're channel.
I absolutely love every single one of these! It's so cool that you include facts and history, I think it makes the videos so interesting! Thanks for making this!
I remember "Erase"! My sister used it! Loved Max Factor. They made a great pot of gloss too.... You brought back some Fun memories! Thank you!! Hugs, Susan
I love your videos. The 50s is my favorite decade for makeup, hair and fashion, your tutorial is the best I've seen so far. I appreciate the history behind each tutorial subject. I'm definitely subscribing!
I'm binge watching every video in this series rite now. Love love love! I really appreciate all your hard work. I love hearing about the history of the era and how the events of the decade played a part in makeup and fashion! You rock!!!!!
THIS WAS SUPER HELPFUL!!! I'm wearing a 50s outfit for Halloween, poodle skirt and all. And I love makeup but I'm not an expert. So, I'm definitely using this at school for Halloween. AND I'm Patty Simcox in Grease so, I needed this for that too! Thank you so much!!
This is amazing how you actually took the time to understand and learn about the beauty of that era'a I'm very into the history of makeup so this did justice to me and that (and the other era's you have done) era. I love your videos ❤️
This is top notch! Your videos are so fun, helpful, and quality! I was a 1950s housewife for Halloween last night and your video helped me perfect my look! I wish I knew how to share a picture on here!!! Thanks so much! :)
Thank you so much. My sister was born in 1950 and is turning 70 in a few weeks so my other 2 sisters and I are going to surprise her with a 1950's look. This look that you've created is PERFECT for me. As I'm 52 and my eye lids and under eye aren't as smooth as they used to be, this soft makeup will be exactly what I need. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You look stunning, by the way :)
I normally don’t like/comment on stuff and I usually don’t watch many tutorials, but I loved this. I love how you bought some facts to what is commonly just a girl putting makeup on. I loved how you explained everything you did. Keep it up.
I love this area, and you addressed the exact products they used while using products used now. I love the fact that you mentioned lip and nail color matched. It is because they had their hands near their face very often from smoking, drinking, etc. This would clash (especially with red) if the nail was warm toned and the lip was cool toned. That's why Revlon created the "matching fingertips and lips" campaign.
+Zabrena I loved your video! You did a really good job with your make up and the tutorial but I loved that you included historical facts and trends. It's important to know how women were putting on make up this way, but why pin up girls did their make up this way is important too!
@Zabrena just found this video, my older about who grew up in this era always told me I had great lips cause of the points on my upper lips under the Cupid's bow. That she said was the look every woman tried to create with their lip stick those high points.
I've enjoyed your period time videos. I've always love women who wear makeup well. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, I saw many ladies who had, what I would call a tailor look about themselves. What I guess I'm really saying is, I miss the glamor of that era. For both sexes! Even the bad guy in movies and TV worn a coat and tie. One thing about the nails back then. They were like pointed daggers. Not squared off like todays trend. Thanks again!
Zabrena I love the clean the eye and red lip look. Love this. I love that you do these videos. This is so fascinating. I am so hooked on your videos. Your work is stunning!! Keep up the great work! xoxo from Bethlehem, Pa
your videos are amazing and so helpful, im currently studying to become a makeup artist and I have to do a 3,000 word essay in the history of makeup and how it influences todays looks, this video was like a god send! thank you x
I absolutely love your historical tutorials! I'm a big history buff, and I also really like makeup, so they're perfect for someone like me. Have you ever thought of doing one from the French Revolution era, ya know, Marie Antoinette and all of her fanciness? That's something that I would definitely be interested in!
I always love watching your videos from this series. History is one of my favorite subjects and makeup if my favorite hobby so you putting them together makes me giddy. I can't wait for the next video!!
Your wing is sooo perfect "despite" your droopy eyes... I'm so jealous! But it also means it's possible :) Thanks for your videos, this makeup looks gorgeous on you!
Yes, she does! My comment wasn't derogatory, I actually have droopy eyes too :) It's just that it's usually so hard to put eyeliner on with this kind of eye shape! I feel like it takes a lot more practice... and talent haha
Hey! I just want to tell you what a COOL topic/subject you are educating us all on! I happen to be a dude. But an amateur history buff. I really, really love your other vids that incorporate the perspectives on contemporary beauty emphasis for the period. I find it really informative and it really gives a "What were they thinking?" perspective to the beauty standards of the time. Thank you for educating folks on an often overlooked and interesting aspect of period history!!!
Green powder is amazing for correcting redness! I personally love Tarina Tarantino's dollskin powder in the shade peridot. It's a subtle pistachio green and has a fantastic finish to it. Of course you don't want to pile it on because you will start to look green if you use too much ;P but seriously, it works really well!
I would really, really like to see you do some more of these historical makeup tutorials. I enjoy these so much (although I like all your vids). Thanks!
This is so fun !! My great Aunt and Grandmother were in high school during this time , and I have their " young ladies etiquette " course books lol my Grandma also tells stories of shaving off their eyebrows and penciling them back in to get the perfect arch shape . The things women went through for beauty in that time was incredible !
I really would like to comment. I have used your tutorials for about a year now. I've been doing art photography and making old accurate photographs, so THIS is exactly the research I need. I have done 20's and 50's so far. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. Just looking at your make up at the beginning, I can't tell much about what is done. It's so subtle and not costumey. Then when I watch the tutorial, I UNDERSTAND and appreciate how much work is done into making it so accurate. I can not express enough how much these mean to me. You are brilliant and wonderful. ♥
I bought two of the Icing long kabuki brushes this weekend. They were buy one get one for 50% off and cost a total of 13.00 for both. I love them!!! Very soft and dense!!!
Thanks for the video, Z! Your research is spot on with all of your historically accurate looks. You really put work into it and it is appreciated and fun to see! :)
I used Max Factor Pancake makeup until they stopped selling in the US. It is the ONLY foundation that I could wear that would keep my oil shine at bay for at least 8 hours and that is without having to use a face primer. If Max Factor came back to the US I'd go right back to it. :(
seriously my favorite era for basically everything including makeup
Same girl, same!

Kristin Gehm AW! Thank you so much, K! :D xoxoxo!
Melissa Price Haha! Thank you so much, Melissa and welcome to you!! :)
You look amazing, as always. I love this series of retro looks. I remember when I first started wearing makeup my Mom telling me about ladies who wore pancake makeup so heavily that when they'd wrinkle their nose their makeup would crack. She also told me about a girl in her gym class getting hit on the side of the face with a volley ball and for weeks the ball had the girl's portrait on it because her makeup was so heavy it transferred to the ball.
redhotsweetpotatoe Oh my gosh, those two examples had me laughing out loud! Wow! What a visual! That's a lot of "cake"! LOL! :D
oh my , for me the 40's and 50's was everything, fashion, makeup,cars...all were stunning!
1DovesGirl How awesome! What a time to be alive! :)
Funny, huh? :) xoxo!
This is such an old comment lol but have you watched Lisa Eldridge videos on makeup history? So fun for a makeup and history buff!
I've watched a handful of your historically accurate videos (instead of graduate reading...) and it did not take me long to subscribe. Not only have you clearly researched these looks well, but you present them well, too! :)
This eyebrow really looks fabulous-and dare I say "natural"-on you! Thanks for the info & tutorial.
One of my very favorite makeup decades!! Can't wait for the Egypt tutorials yay!!!!! Lol! This was such a gorgeous look!!
Those are my eyebrows everyday, I love 50's makeup and style, was the best era!
For fashion but that's it. It was probably the worst decade for poc, LGBTQ and women
I LOVE this series, you have NO idea just how much. You really do your research and it's fascinating :D Plus this style looks lovely on you :)
SimplyMayaBeauty Thank you so much!!
Beautiful ! My favorite era of makeup by far. I miss max factor they had the best eyebrow pencils . My grandma was even a Max Factor model doing shows in the department stores and schools .
I swear, I was meant to live in the 50s
Edit* I didn’t think so many idiots and keyboard warriors would “come at me” but look dummies. I meant I felt like the makeup and fashion of the 50s suited me that’s it. So now, if you comment it will be obvious you are just a keyboard warrior and have nothing better to do with your life.
Naomi McIlvaine same here omg i dont belong in this century at all
same, the clothes, makeup, music, was all meant for me.
Eh I prefer my vaccines and birth control
Naomi McIlvaine you only look at the glam side of it, you were not meant to live in the 50s
Girl no
:) xoxoxo!
You are welcome my dear!
I just LOVE that your "historically accurate" tutorials are just THAT ..accurate!! It is so important to keep these looks from the past realistic, and also to know the story behind it and WHY they did certain things ...and you are just FABULOUS at doing that and teaching your viewers :D
You look gorgeous in this look!! Everything about it suits you, even the eyebrows.
ughh i love this series with all the different make ups from the century's, thank you for clinging on to the style they did back then and don't give your own feeling to it. i really liked that you sticked on to that. also you look so young. but still, i don't know how to explain, older then i think you are? i don't know. keep on rockin' these vids
Great !
Caroline McGarry-Ross Thank you so much, Caroline! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)
I am extremely happy that the historically accurate series hasn't come to an end yet! Since you have done so many already.. I love all them so much, thank you Zabrena!
love all of them* sorry
Beautiful look! Been anticipating the 50s look and I will be trying it :) Your historical videos are informative and interesting, thank you taking the time to make them for us!
I have tried so many "authentic" 50's and 40's looks from TH-cam and I have to say this one was the absolute best! Looked awesome and very 50's without that awful pornstar look that so many of them give you. Wore it to a dinner party and everyone complimented me on it.... Also loved your winged liner tutorial. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Thank you!!! :)
What do you mean by "pornstar look"??
:) xoxo!
I own a 1954 Corvette and I'm going to a car show on Sunday of this week and I'm totally using this makeup tutorial for it! Gorgeous.
WOW!! this is BEUTIFUL!! You really look like a movie star from the 50's . Love, love, love.
Thank you!! Hugs, Susan
delacotta360 Aww! Awesome!! Hugs!!!
I am going to a 50s themed party tomorrow night, and this was so helpful!! Thanks and you look lovely with this look
I love your videos. The 50s is my favorite decade for makeup, hair and fashion, your tutorial is the best I've seen so far. I appreciate the history behind each tutorial subject. I'm definitely subscribing!
You look stunning, that look really is classic.
Wow! You look amazing in this video. The glam hair, off the shoulder top & makeup are so on point for this tutorial.
I love these videos! I love how you actually look at the history instead of just guessing like so many lacklustre youtubers. You're awesome ^.^
I still wear this look sometimes. It’s so classic and beautiful
I'm binge watching every video in this series rite now. Love love love! I really appreciate all your hard work. I love hearing about the history of the era and how the events of the decade played a part in makeup and fashion! You rock!!!!!
I'm literally obsessed with this series of videos! Thank you so much for these.
I love your historical makeup tutorials. I'm a bit of a historical makeup junkie. The Victorian era, 1940's and 1950's are my favorite eras. 😊
I love your decades inspired tutorials, I love them all but especially the 90's and 70's. Really love your channel. :)
Love your channel! So different than other beauty gurus. Very helpful and no clickbait :)
This is amazing how you actually took the time to understand and learn about the beauty of that era'a I'm very into the history of makeup so this did justice to me and that (and the other era's you have done) era. I love your videos ❤️
Absolutely stunning!!! Probably your best so far! Congrats Z!!
Keep it up.
my mum and Gran taught me 50s as a child and teen I still go mainly 50s. I love Hollywood glamour. very neat tutorials
Amazed you didn't use revlon's Fire and ice lipstick and nail varnish! Also I would love to know how you research these videos they're so informative
You knocked it out of the park! I love, love, love this series.
Really enjoyed how you incorporated the historical facts when applying the makeup. :)
Despite your trepidation on some of application processes in the video you look adorable!
Kumyki09 Haha! Thank you!
Zabrena I love the clean the eye and red lip look. Love this. I love that you do these videos. This is so fascinating. I am so hooked on your videos. Your work is stunning!! Keep up the great work! xoxo from Bethlehem, Pa
Amy Black noeimelff
your videos are amazing and so helpful, im currently studying to become a makeup artist and I have to do a 3,000 word essay in the history of makeup and how it influences todays looks, this video was like a god send! thank you x
Thank you for this series! I LOVE the historic facts! Thanks also for adding the hair tutorials to complete the looks. You are very talented:)
Yay! I was so excited when I saw a new historically accurate tutorial was up! I really love this series, and I can't wait for more. :)
This is the 2nd tutorial of yours that I've viewed. It's just fascinating what you can do.
Zabrena's eyebrows look so good in this video!
+Amy Clare IKR? She did it just right.
Of all the make up looks I've seen on you this suits you the most!!
god i can not stress enough how gorgeous you are love your channel btw
-love from England
Your wing is sooo perfect "despite" your droopy eyes... I'm so jealous! But it also means it's possible :) Thanks for your videos, this makeup looks gorgeous on you!
I think her eyes are beautiful and I wish I had them:(
Yes, she does! My comment wasn't derogatory, I actually have droopy eyes too :) It's just that it's usually so hard to put eyeliner on with this kind of eye shape! I feel like it takes a lot more practice... and talent haha
+Eva G. Oh I know it wasn't derogatory :)
I love when the nails match the lips. Little things like that!
I just found your channel today and this series is so amazing, I'm obsessed already!!!
Green powder is amazing for correcting redness! I personally love Tarina Tarantino's dollskin powder in the shade peridot. It's a subtle pistachio green and has a fantastic finish to it. Of course you don't want to pile it on because you will start to look green if you use too much ;P but seriously, it works really well!
u match with this look...like...u don't look like ur trying to look 1950s.u are naturally so.beautiful
This was particularly interesting - really liked the combined history and makeup lessons :) And cannot wait for Ancient Egyptian video!
Charissa Johnson Oh wow! Definitely! I bet those books are such an interesting read, especially contrasted to our modern times. How cool!
They sure are! It is amazing how much effort went into looking feminine :)
You hypnotized me when you were putting on your lipstick, lol! I love this look, I'm a big fan of the 50s-70's makeup styles!
Enjoy these tutorials so much. Just discovered these. Such fun!
I love this series!! I'm a huge history buff and this was filled with really awesome facts and information tidbits!!!
woohoo historically accurate series is my favorite ever! love the video and all the facts!
I used Max Factor Pancake makeup until they stopped selling in the US. It is the ONLY foundation that I could wear that would keep my oil shine at bay for at least 8 hours and that is without having to use a face primer. If Max Factor came back to the US I'd go right back to it. :(
