  • This is just a simple walk-around video to show the modifications done to my Beemer (the Rural G/S).
    - The front required the most work and centers around the R9tadv F800GS front fork conversion kit.
    - This kit included all the necessary triple clamps, brake caliper brackets, extended brake lines, fork guard brackets, abs ring and axle to bolt on the F800Gs fork legs to the Urban G/S. The GS fork legs need to be sourced separately
    - The GS Springs were replaced with Touratech heavy duty progressive rate springs
    - The turn signals were mounted to the oil cooler and the fork guards are from a Suzuki RMZ
    - Barkbusters handguards
    - Quadlock moto phone mount
    - Mirrors are from Puig and Rottweiler performance
    - Koso headlight from DK design
    - SWmotech crash bars and bash plate
    - I have some R9tadv.com lower foot pegs that I need to install as well
    - Wilbers kick stand extender
    - Unit garage exhaust
    - Wilbers rear shock
    - Daedalus design license plate and brake light

    It's such a great bike...thanks for the walk around! The ''stance' of the bike is spot on, and the taller suspension suits it well 👌. I have a T7 which I love, and an XR650R. But after a 3 hour test ride on the Urban GS i fell in love with the Boxer engine and the whole bike, so hope to get one sometime. Pier City Customs are not far from me, they specialise in R ninety's. I'll try not to copy your bike too much!!. Cheers, Steve

    I'm thinking about doing something very similar with my Urban GS. I am concerned about the wilbers +70mm's performance on the road and the new seat height of the bike though. How did you experience the longer suspension travel?

      Hi Nicolas, as you would expect the handling on the road is not as good as factory. If you spend most of your time on the road A better route is to stick with the standard 19inch wheel in the front. I really like the suspension setup. Great on the road and nice and plush off road. I use this bike a lot off-road so it works well for me. The bike is very tall with this setup. I’m 5’10.

    that looks absolutely sick. This is how BMW should have built it. So it now has the 21" wheel of the 800 in the front and the stock 17" wheel in the rear?
    Edit: I just saw your other video and seems like you have the stock 19" wheel on it here in this video.

    • @BeemerDuc
      @BeemerDuc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I agree and the bmw has something in the works right now it seems. So it has the 21inch wheel from the 850 and the stock 17 inch in the rear for now. I’ll be moving to an 18inch rear wheel setup eventually.

    Reminds me of the old now R1200 four valve series of 2005 or so. Figure out some solft luggage for RTW travel. I love those twins.

    • @BeemerDuc
      @BeemerDuc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds good Sam. Which luggage did you go with?

      @@BeemerDuc I've got hard luggage right now for my Tenere. I'm getting a R9T this year. Just have to figure out some kind of bracket arraignment to keep the bags away from the rear wheel. The Giant Loop RTW model looks good as do Kreiga and a few more. 900 to 1200 dollars. I just want a system I can throw over the rear portion of the seat or make a solo seat like we had on the original Gs's. People tell me to just buy a new GS, not what I like for kind of roads I want to ride. I've had several. My '88 was great. Later ones not so much so.
      Like my feet pretty much on the ground. I'm 67 been on BMW's for 46 years since R90S. Rode a hell of a lot.

      @@samhill3496 I’ve always wanted to Try the tenere and the GS. Maybe someday. I still need to install my luggage bags on the bike but I went with some from Unit Garage.
