    What also really helps with Temps in DWC or RDWC is placing the buckets directly on a tile or concrete floor. Can't beat the heat transfer. 68 to 70 consistently. Love the videos!

    Old Mini Bar fridges can be modified into chillers!. 2 holes 1 water pump and a roll of tubing.. A large old fridge could be setup to chill a bunch of systems. Find older 1's for cheap even free online ready for some mod's. Works great, you get a chiller and grow room snack bar in 1 ;). Heaps of DIY info online about them.

The cooling of the water is whats keeping me from get my DWC going I’ll probably wait till winter because I’m a tight ass don’t wanna spend the money lol but I see a grower using a fish tank cooler can’t remember the channel but it work good I think 16 gal a hour was what it do for around 130 not bad and one grow you’d pay for it . I've got an RDWC system, and agree temps of the nutrients has always been an issue for my system. One thing that works for me cause I'm very small... I went out and bought a refrigerated cooler plumbed in as my reservoir, which I plug in and it helps to maintain the temp of the nutrients. Doesn't make a huge difference, but I figure it's a problem that can have many solutions, which when taken in combination, can overcome the problem. I've had very good results with this approach.

    i put my bucket in a storage container half full with water and I threw small bottles of water in the bigger container. it started out to keep the ice away from the roots, but it also gives a larger thermal mass without needing a larger reservoir of nutrients.

    "TRUST ME!"
    Reverse your exhaust system... Place your exhaust fan near your AC vent.
    Run your ducting through the bottom of your tent. Place your pump directly in front of the ducting, then you're going to place as much of the tubing into the duct, including the air manifold if possible.
    The core problem isn't room temperature per say, the main problem is that the majority of the hot air that's heating up the water is coming from the air pump. Focus 100% on cooling your "AIR MANIFOLD" & the tubing at the beginning of the air manifold. I literally kept my water temperature at optimal with this method.
    The only drawback is based around the location of your grow being that that area would have to be running the AC 24/7!

    Running 1-5 gallon bucket and trying to grow in a closet in the Texas summer. Water temps were waaay too high. Got a water chiller from Walmart for $110.00. It's basically a small aquarium chiller. Works great. Unfortunately, I still can't get my seedlings in rockwool to take off even after 2 weeks. My flower is struggling and it's my 1st grow, so we'll see what happens.

      @@StNick-ri9pz also once you get your seedling "with the one inch tap root" transferred into the rockwool cube, put the rockwool in some type of humidity dome. Then let the tape root grow a quarter out the bottom of the rockwool before placing it into the bucket. This allows your root to continue growing this time towards the water at the bottom of your Hydrobucket.

    I figured out why my comments weren't being posted!! Buy a used water cooler off market place ( $15- $35 ), one that you would normally put a 5 gal jug in the top. Now tear it apart so that you are left with the compressor and the cooling coil. Some of the cooling coils are coated in a protective plastic and some are not. If the one you have doesn't have a protective coating on it just wrap a plastic bag around the coil so you don't get any oxidation in your nutrients. Place the coil directly into your nutrient reservoir. Buy a device that will monitor your water temp. I use the ITC-308 ($50). Plug the compressor into the cooling plug on the device and set your water temps. I set my water temp at 67 deg and set the turn on temp at +2 deg (69).

    • @robertlussier2944
      @robertlussier2944 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got that system for my son. I think you could get a central bucket, and connect it to the four grow buckets with 3/4" to 1" drains, using barbed plastic connectors, rubber hose, and grommets for going through the buckets. Drill your holes 1/2" from the bottom of each bucket, and connect them to the central bucket. Since they use the air lift to the drip rings, they will draw from the central reservoir bucket. You can do all your pH checks and TDS, and nutrient changes from the central reservoir and won't have to disturb the plants. Draw a picture of how you want to connect everything first, and you will know what supplies to get. You could also just connect the four buckets together by a drain, and use one of them for your reservoir, growing 3 plants. When I do my grows, 3 usually fills my 4x4, and is what my state says is legal, anyway. So far I've harvested enough from each grow to keep me in smoke and cannabutter until my next crop is done, and I'm a pretty heavy user.😂

    The reason you must have your nutes at 65 to 70 degrees is because if your nutes go higher than 70 is to prevent root rot, and no matter how good your pump is, if your nutes go higher than 70 degrees you will get root rot. I use 5 gallon igloo water coolers for the plants, and a big 27 gallon igloo ice chest for the reservoir , and use a small old fridge as a chiller and if needed ,frozen water bottles in the reservoir to control temps to grow outdoors during summer. Also, I use big air stones in each planter, and 2 in the reservoir

    • @jasonwempe3232
      @jasonwempe3232 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This has not been my experience. I've done over 50 runs now and my res temps get into the mid 70s all the time. 10 watts of power per plant is more than enough to prevent root rot. Most people run little aquarium pumps which are only about 3 or 4 watts. Amazon has 40 watt pumps for under $40.

Only way I have been able to get around buying a water chiller, is by chilling the air at the pump intake site, and it is only marginally better than just saying fk it. Ok I'm running DWC 5 gallon res (STYROFOAM) under a 315 w LEC built in ballast.
    1. Add ice to nutrient solution after mixing but before final pH balance.or brake it down to 5 milk jugs and put them in the fridge for a bit . These 2 things will ensure you start off with optimum temp solution.
    2. This is most important when controlling and maintaining the air temperature coning I threw your pump ..you gotta have your pumps in front of a fan and best if that fan is ducted to an AC
    3.this is RARE tip that maintain temp in your res for long periods of time like this for me eliminates my need for a chiller I will only have to chill my solution at the start of each res change ...... STYROFOAM STYROFOAM STYROFOAM STYROFOAM STYROFOAM STYROFOAM
    ICE CHEST lined with a industrial strength black garbage bag
    It is the absolute best insulator and the black garbage bag allows 0.00% of light penetration to the roots ...
    4 . enjoy your smoke and a little bit less stress growing ....
    But I can't stress enough about the container bein STYROFOAM

    Black buckets... Black as we know attract heat, I started using home depot orange and lowes blue even white buckets never had an issue with light leaks. Another tip like you said making ur reservior larger. If you bought pre made dwc buckets that have the grommet elbow and usually blue tinted tube as a water level gauge. Connecting one bucket to another will double your rez size now u won't have the ease of turning one sideways to drain simply place ur plant I'm and empty clean bucket while u drain and clean for your rez change or simply disconnect If you have the ability to just let them drain where they are. You can also place a small pump in the extra bucket and pump it out then refill in the same bucket so u dont even need to mess with the bucket ur plant is in. Yes you will have about an inch or so left on the bottom don't worry it won't harm anything if u are worried use a shopvac for that last 1/2-1 gallon.

    Your water temp should be about 10° cooler than the ambient room temperature. 😎

    If running separate DWC buckets, the best way to keep the temps in the green zone is invest in insulated buckets, or use bucket jackets, and install micro chiller probes, such as Nova Tech Coolworks Ice Probe and temp controllers. Typically sold by aquarium suppliers. I use one in my aeroponic cloner, works amazing! For RDWC it's no question, a minimum 1/13 HP aquarium chiller, 1/10 is the best way to go. Invest in quality chiller brands, stay away from the cheap chinese chillers, especially the electric ones. 🧊

      Chillers are to expensive. There are much cheaper ways to cool the water to a steady 66-68 deg.

      @@Ballme60 No there isn't. You would have to keep ice packs on a constant rotation to BARELY keep those numbers, even indoors during the winter season. And if you can't afford to invest in a chiller, then you're just growing some bullsh*t 🤣
