Surprisingly the majority of their songs ARE BALLADS! I love their side tracks and I honestly wouldn't be able to recommend one song, I would recommend and *entire album.* Try their album *"Highlight",* it was their last album as "BEAST" and came out in 2016. It highlighted each of their vocals and to this day, it is the album that has influenced my taste in music the most. They had to change their name to Highlight due to being trademarked by cube ent. and cube is evil. I'm really glad we didn't have to go through something similar when got7 left their company. 2 members have left, one in 2016 and the other in 2019. Their sound has changed over the years, but still have a lot of R&B and ballad style songs. As for Highlight, I highly recommend their new EP "After Sunset" I really like their song *"Say I Love You (SILY)"* it is soooo romantic and corny ugh makes me blush 😍🙈💕hehe Fun fact if you listen to Seventeen, they are the biggest Beast/Highlight fanboys, their interactions are always so lovely hahaha. You should check out: "Good Luck", "Shock" (iconic), "12:30", and "Ribbon" (super pretty!) before they left Cube and rebranded as Highlight and then under that name: "Can Be Better", "Plz Don't Be Sad", "Loved", and "Not the End" (their 2021 comeback/post-military service). They're down to 4 members but still active. The main vocal, Yang Yoseob has an incredible voice (the one with the super recognizable baby-face!) and also collaborated on a solo song, in 2011 "I Remember" with Bang Yongguk (formerly of BAP) which is worth checking out and super powerful with more of a rock sound.

Fiction really did made it big that’s the song that made them the Melon Artist of the Year in 2011. They also won the next year. Yes, it’s back to back! They’re called Highlight now they have to change their name when they left Cube Entertainment and form their own agency. So Beast 2009-2016, Highlight is 2017-2022. It’s tough when you don’t form your own playlist in Spotify 😂 If not the more recent MVs i mean from 2014 until 2022, I know everyone would suggest to check out their Killing Voice video. Ah, Beast! When they first debuted, critics were skeptical if they could succeed, because apparently most, if not all, the members had debuted before so they were considered "recycled" idols :c But they proved them wrong by becoming one of the most popular boy groups of 2nd-gen! They also definitely helped push Cube Entertainment to be a stronger company out there. Unfortunately, when their contracts were up for renewal, Cube trademarked the name "Beast" so they could no longer promote under that name. So the members left Cube and created their own agency and began to promote as Highlight! 5 members stayed on as Highlight, and currently there are 4 members in the group, and they even made two comebacks in the last year! Members: -Doojoon: leader, he seems to be active as an actor as of late! -Hyunseung (orange hair guy): vocalist, he actually trained with the Big Bang members and participated in Trouble Maker, one of the most well-known male/female collab acts in K-pop! He stayed with Cube so he did not stay on as a Highlight member. -Junhyung: rapper and producer, he has some of the most song copyrights to his name as a songwriter in the industry! The way I wasn’t expecting this at all!! I love love love Beast/Highlight. Their album Fiction and Fact is probably my favorite kpop album ever. It’s only the fact that Onew exists that Yoseob isn’t my ult (he’s the one with the baby face with killer vocals). They rebranded as Highlight a few years ago when they left their old company and their stuff is amazing. Internationally they are fully slept on even more so than the normal international fans sleeping on 2nd gen groups. Super talented and their story of how the members came to be in the group is pretty amazing too. Fiction is THAT song literally everyone knows the dance, iirc it won some huge award that year. Sincerely hope you check out more of them, they are also so funny highly recommend watching their Killing Voice bc it gives you a pretty good idea of their sound and you get a glimpse of personalities. Oh my god! This is so unexpected! I used to love B2ST so much. The group is still together under the name Highlight (but two members are gone). Fiction is THAT song. I believe it was super popular for its dance (my memory is really failing me). I'm off to watch now. EDIT: Alright so after watching, here's some more info: The one you said was your bias in the first video is Dongwoon (he is the maknae!). The one who has the dance solo is Kikwang. Other people already pointed out Yoseob and Hyunseung. Junhyung (the rapper) is no longer with the group because of a scandal. He is (was?) a really good producer and songwriter. The last member, but not the least is Doojoon (the leader)

Oh my god, I haven't heard Bad Girl in so long (I learnt the dance to the chorus). I've seen a few comments already about how Hyunseung was part of a duo with Hyuna called Troublemaker and can confirm they're definitely worth checking out. Ukiss and MBLAQ are some other 2nd gen groups you might enjoy.

Ooooh!! I love B2ST/Beast/Highlight. I actually think Fiction got song of the year at one award show - it was huge in Korea when it came out. It is still one of my favourite songs by them and there is an orchestra version of it which I really recommend! It’s really beautiful. I think you will absolutely love Plz don’t be sad. It’s very bright and funky, has a great message and the MV is really fun. You will probably really enjoy their last couple of comebacks, Daydream and Not the end - not the end has the same vibe as Don’t wanna cry by Seventeen. And Breath - one of their older songs that is still great. Their killing voice is awesome as well!!

They were pretty succesful though and won Awards. I think they won Song of the year for Fiction or something. Another beautiful song from the Fiction era was On Rainy Days. OMG, SO GLAD YOU'RE FINALLY GETTING INTO BEAST/HIGHLIGHT! I love them so much. They are definitely a powerhouse vocal group! In their Beast days they were know for heartbreak bops like Fiction and Shadow. On Rainy Days is a great song if you want to hear all their vocals though it doesn't have an MV. Their main vocalist, Yang Yoseob is considered one of the best vocalist in Korea. The man is insanely talented and so emotive with his voice. He gives me all the feels when he sings. Someone may have already explained their story but basically they debuted as Beast with Cube and did insanely well- they basically built Cube up from the ground. Toward the end of their contracts, Cube really dropped the ball with promoting them as they were focused on newer artist. One member, Hyunseung (red hair in Beautiful Nihht) left the group to persue solo work. They other five choose not to renew with Cube but wanted to continue the group. Cube refused to give them copyright to the name Beast (it got petty and ridiculous on Cube's end) and instead of a long, drawn out legal fight, the boys decided to rename themselves Highlight after the last album they had released. They said it was super scary not knowing if people would realize who they were anymore but they achieved huge success all over again and have made their new name just as well known as Beast. A few years into Highlight, the rapper, Junhyung, got involved in a controversy and left the group as he didn't want to taint their image. It's just four of them now but they're still going strong and keep releasing such good music! They're known as some of the nicest guys in the industry and are super chill and silly. if you checked out BEAST you absolutely, absolutely 1000% must check out basically their counterpart in the 2010s, MBLAQ!!! they've been forgotten except by old time fans but MBLAQ and BEAST frequently promoted at the same time, went on the same variety shows, and had such a genuine friendship on screen. MBLAQ is also funny as hell.

Ah, B2ST, the last one of the holy trinity of 2nd gen boygroups (others being SHINee and Infinite). They're also one of the entire 4 Kpop groups I have attended a solo concert from (back in 2012). They were great live!! As for some of your questions: B2ST is still active, kinda... under a different company and a different name (for legal reasons). They're now called Highlight. Two members left the group - one (Hyunseung, the one with the unique vocal tone that you pointed out during fiction) on his own terms, which is sad, but fine, another because of a scandal (Junhyung, the rapper with the rainbow lips on the hand in Beautiful Night). I won't get into what happened there, since it's very sensitive subject matter, please Google and form your own opinions. But that should answer your question on whether everyone in the group are good people - if you'd ask me, I'd probably answer "most of them". And I am a former stan and still a casual fan of the current line up, so I have no agenda. Anyways the 4 remaining members - Dojoon, Yoseob (the main vocalist), Gikwang (the handsome one) and Dongwoon (your bias haha) - are still active as a group under the Highlight name. So if you look up "Highlight MV" you should also find more recent songs. As for Fiction - yes it is probably the height of their popularity and their most famous song. It's like RDD and SHINee I guess, everyone in Korea will think of Fiction when someone mentions B2ST. Anyways, I still immensely enjoy their music to this day, regardless of past turmoil, even though I don't stand anymore. Glad you checked them out!!
Fiction is definitely their most iconic song - still. They are manly & sporty idols. The leader Yoon Doojoon was known as the Nation's Boyfriend for many years (he & Nichkhun shared that title). And Yeoseob is very well known for his great vocals & baby face. Member Kikwang was also one of the most highly rated idols in Korea at the time. I understand that you are gay and glad you are open about it as all those who are should be, love is love & who people love has nothing to do with others (what happens behind closed doors and all), but please remember that your Western/American views are not that of the rest of the world & in kpop, while they do often push some risque fashion choices, Music Labels won't openly put any pro-LGB things in videos and MOST idols won't openly talk about it. People like that volleyball athele who was rumored but denied being gay still take their lives because of rumors! So, while things are changing, fans should be careful of their comments - the world is not the West. The Fashion they had was actually normal for idols for the time, nothing effeminate at all. The Colours were a bit bright but Korea/ Asia like all places have different views of what is or is not feminine & masculine - different from the West. Sorry about the long comment, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I enjoy your reactions (we are about the same age so it is more relatable in many ways) and while I support LGB people, please just be aware of the fact that the MOST of the world is not so open to what you guys in the West know so yeah, be your proud and happy self, but aware of those things.

A definite song to check out is any and every version (live, album version, orchestral) of "On Rainy Days" it's a gorgeous song.
Someone with more knowledge of the group could definitely give you a more complete backstory, but the basics are they were formed by CUBE as B2ST and ended up leaving the agency (lost one member) and had to change their name to HIGHLIGHT. They've also lost another member since, so HIGHLIGHT is four I believe.

They're down to 4 members but still active. The main vocal, Yang Yoseob has an incredible voice (the one with the super recognizable baby-face!) and also collaborated on a solo song, in 2011 "I Remember" with Bang Yongguk (formerly of BAP) which is worth checking out and super powerful with more of a rock sound.

Fiction really did made it big that’s the song that made them the Melon Artist of the Year in 2011. They also won the next year. Yes, it’s back to back! They’re called Highlight now they have to change their name when they left Cube Entertainment and form their own agency. So Beast 2009-2016, Highlight is 2017-2022. It’s tough when you don’t form your own playlist in Spotify 😂 If not the more recent MVs i mean from 2014 until 2022, I know everyone would suggest to check out their Killing Voice video. Ah, Beast! When they first debuted, critics were skeptical if they could succeed, because apparently most, if not all, the members had debuted before so they were considered "recycled" idols :c But they proved them wrong by becoming one of the most popular boy groups of 2nd-gen! They also definitely helped push Cube Entertainment to be a stronger company out there.
Unfortunately, when their contracts were up for renewal, Cube trademarked the name "Beast" so they could no longer promote under that name. So the members left Cube and created their own agency and began to promote as Highlight! 5 members stayed on as Highlight, and currently there are 4 members in the group, and they even made two comebacks in the last year!
Members:
-Doojoon: leader, he seems to be active as an actor as of late!
-Hyunseung (orange hair guy): vocalist, he actually trained with the Big Bang members and participated in Trouble Maker, one of the most well-known male/female collab acts in K-pop! He stayed with Cube so he did not stay on as a Highlight member.
-Junhyung: rapper and producer, he has some of the most song copyrights to his name as a songwriter in the industry! He left the group in 2019 due to reckoning in the industry at the time.

The way I wasn’t expecting this at all!! I love love love Beast/Highlight. Their album Fiction and Fact is probably my favorite kpop album ever. It’s only the fact that Onew exists that Yoseob isn’t my ult (he’s the one with the baby face with killer vocals). They rebranded as Highlight a few years ago when they left their old company and their stuff is amazing. Internationally they are fully slept on even more so than the normal international fans sleeping on 2nd gen groups. Super talented and their story of how the members came to be in the group is pretty amazing too. Fiction is THAT song literally everyone knows the dance, iirc it won some huge award that year.
Sincerely hope you check out more of them, they are also so funny highly recommend watching their Killing Voice bc it gives you a pretty good idea of their sound and you get a glimpse of personalities. Man this totally made my day!!!

Oh my god! This is so unexpected! I used to love B2ST so much. The group is still together under the name Highlight (but two members are gone). Fiction is THAT song. I believe it was super popular for its dance (my memory is really failing me). I'm off to watch now.

Oh my god, I haven't heard Bad Girl in so long (I learnt the dance to the chorus). I've seen a few comments already about how Hyunseung was part of a duo with Hyuna called Troublemaker and can confirm they're definitely worth checking out. Ukiss and MBLAQ are some other 2nd gen groups you might enjoy.

Ooooh!! I love B2ST/Beast/Highlight. I actually think Fiction got song of the year at one award show - it was huge in Korea when it came out. It is still one of my favourite songs by them and there is an orchestra version of it which I really recommend! It’s really beautiful.
I think you will absolutely love Plz don’t be sad. It’s very bright and funky, has a great message and the MV is really fun. You will probably really enjoy their last couple of comebacks, Daydream and Not the end - not the end has the same vibe as Don’t wanna cry by Seventeen. And Breath - one of their older songs that is still great.

Oh wow,.. Beast. This is so nostalgic and bringing back fun memories from when I watched them perform in London amongst other Cube artists. I might even have the Fiction album now that I think of it.

OMG, SO GLAD YOU'RE FINALLY GETTING INTO BEAST/HIGHLIGHT! I love them so much. They are definitely a powerhouse vocal group! In their Beast days they were know for heartbreak bops like Fiction and Shadow. On Rainy Days is a great song if you want to hear all their vocals though it doesn't have an MV. Their main vocalist, Yang Yoseob is considered one of the best vocalist in Korea. The man is insanely talented and so emotive with his voice. He gives me all the feels when he sings.
Someone may have already explained their story but basically they debuted as Beast with Cube and did insanely well- they basically built Cube up from the ground. Toward the end of their contracts, Cube really dropped the ball with promoting them as they were focused on newer artist. One member, Hyunseung (red hair in Beautiful Nihht) left the group to persue solo work. They other five choose not to renew with Cube but wanted to continue the group. Cube refused to give them copyright to the name Beast (it got petty and ridiculous on Cube's end) and instead of a long, drawn out legal fight, the boys decided to rename themselves Highlight after the last album they had released. They said it was super scary not knowing if people would realize who they were anymore but they achieved huge success all over again and have made their new name just as well known as Beast. A few years into Highlight, the rapper, Junhyung, got involved in a controversy and left the group as he didn't want to taint their image. It's just four of them now but they're still going strong and keep releasing such good music! They're known as some of the nicest guys in the industry and are super chill and silly.

if you checked out BEAST you absolutely, absolutely 1000% must check out basically their counterpart in the 2010s, MBLAQ!!! they've been forgotten except by old time fans but MBLAQ and BEAST frequently promoted at the same time, went on the same variety shows, and had such a genuine friendship on screen. MBLAQ is also funny as hell.

Ah, B2ST, the last one of the holy trinity of 2nd gen boygroups (others being SHINee and Infinite). They're also one of the entire 4 Kpop groups I have attended a solo concert from (back in 2012). They were great live!!
As for some of your questions: B2ST is still active, kinda... under a different company and a different name (for legal reasons). They're now called Highlight. Two members left the group - one (Hyunseung, the one with the unique vocal tone that you pointed out during fiction) on his own terms, which is sad, but fine, another because of a scandal (Junhyung, the rapper with the rainbow lips on the hand in Beautiful Night).
I won't get into what happened there, since it's very sensitive subject matter, please Google and form your own opinions. But that should answer your question on whether everyone in the group are good people - if you'd ask me, I'd probably answer "most of them". And I am a former stan and still a casual fan of the current line up, so I have no agenda.
Anyways the 4 remaining members - Dojoon, Yoseob (the main vocalist), Gikwang (the handsome one) and Dongwoon (your bias haha) - are still active as a group under the Highlight name. So if you look up "Highlight MV" you should also find more recent songs.
As for Fiction - yes it is probably the height of their popularity and their most famous song. It's like RDD and SHINee I guess, everyone in Korea will think of Fiction when someone mentions B2ST.
Anyways, I still immensely enjoy their music to this day, regardless of past turmoil, even though I don't stand anymore. Glad you checked them out!!

They are manly & sporty idols. The leader Yoon Doojoon was known as the Nation's Boyfriend for many years (he & Nichkhun shared that title). And Yeoseob is very well known for his great vocals & baby face. Member Kikwang was also one of the most highly rated idols in Korea at the time.
I understand that you are gay and glad you are open about it as all those who are should be, love is love & who people love has nothing to do with others (what happens behind closed doors and all), but please remember that your Western/American views are not that of the rest of the world & in kpop, while they do often push some risque fashion choices, Music Labels won't openly put any pro-LGB things in videos and MOST idols won't openly talk about it. People like that volleyball athele who was rumored but denied being gay still take their lives because of rumors! So, while things are changing, fans should be careful of their comments - the world is not the West.
The Fashion they had was actually normal for idols for the time, nothing effeminate at all. The Colours were a bit bright but Korea/ Asia like all places have different views of what is or is not feminine & masculine - different from the West.
