Please take a break and don't burn out on Runeterra again! What makes you such a fun creator to watch is how much fun you have. But when you're not, you're right about why the game is off, but salty Mogwai isn't fun. Take care of yourself and make sure you're having fun!

Yeah I enjoy seeing Saltwai but I'd rather he be annoyed at certain decks or games but I'd hate to see him get salty or burned out on the game as a whole.
I agree, if he does get burnout or not in the mood of playing LoR, maybe play TFT for a while once again

It's not something that I take personally, but I don't think it really makes sense to complain about.
High ELO contains the best decks because the people playing other decks have been weeded out. That said, I see a decent amount of Termo/Yummi, Annie/Jhin, Karma/Sett and Elites/Elder Dragon (also some Noxus Bilge aggro). It doesn't feel as monotonous as Mogwai makes it out to be, but there isn't much in the way of experimentation.
Also, personally I notice a pretty big difference in average skill the higher you go up the ladder. That's not to say that people in the lower areas of the ladder can't be as skilled. I just notice that at the top of the ladder the skill is more consistent.
We gotta get riot to give out more timely balance patches like they used to. Send them feedback guys! 💪

@@clayandros2038 True, but the only reason we have such a stale meta is because it lasts 2 months instead of 1.
We get balance patches/expansions/variety sets every month, which I think is fine for a dev team as small as LoR's. The only problem is december, when this becomes 2 months instead of 1 month.
But sure, I agree, it would be nice for them to hotfix some things for this meta. Maybe some very small bandaid nerfs to top decks, before the real patch later.
Everyone gives em slack for winter break. How long is their break? 1 month? This is exactly what happened to TFT during the Yuumi era, it was disgustingly broken lol, ask any TFT player and they will remember how hard it killed the game.

I always said people are sleeping on Eve Kaisa. What I think really works well with this deck are:
- Airi > Sultur as the 2 drop just because she already provides you with a keyword for evolve
- Darkin Bloodletters because you can equip it to give husk additional attack while spawning the thrall which also procs steems effect
- Dune Swallower, really underrated here especially because of the keywords it can get to finish games early, it also has keywords for kaisa lvl. And you can kill units easily with it without sacrificing mana gems because of the thralls and husks

Sadly Evelynn is just ass since half of her region is in SI. And you can have a lot more variety in deck building

Hi Mogwai, I think i can provide some clarity for some of the questions you asked at the beginning about why people play Meta.
*First,* it can be fun to learn a deck inside and out, learn the deck deeply, and find a sense of satisfaction from mastering a deck. And if you wanna master a deck, what better deck to pick than meta?
*Second,* it's simply more fun to win than lose, for most people, most of the time. That will never change.
*Third,* it can be fun to try to push your limits and gain LP. Seeing how high you can climb on the leaderboards can be really fun, and the best deck to pick for that would be meta.
*Fourth,* maybe those people aren't playing the game nearly as much as you are. Imagine you just play after work or school, 5 games a day, always Galio Morgana Elder Dragon. You probably wouldn't get bored from the repetition, since it's so little per day. The difference is, this game is your job, while for someone else it's a _break_ from their job.

I've been working on a Kaisa deck that goes all in on husks over evolve and uses 3x Camo Horror. Glad to know I was on the right track as an aspiring chef.
You know what you gotta do? Go the Grapplr route and make a meme deck centered around some niche, hyper-specific card synergy. Then title it "Climb Down to Masters 0LP" and get some good content out of getting back to the better elo xD

Taking a break sounds good. I'm right there with you. It's been one of my favorite metas ever, and I love both morde and morgana, but they've been in the sun for a long time now. I'm playing other games waiting for that balance patch

I find that Voice of the Risen is an excellent addition to this deck, giving all allies (including husks) +2/+0 if either Evelyn or kaisa have leveled, both have fairly easy level up conditions (especially ev)
I get 100% what you mean about people just playing the same meta decks, when i used to play magic duels of the planeswalkers i always loved winning with my own deck that i made, but i guess this was when things werent so readily available to copy online.
I’d say that not everyone is a great deck builder but they still enjoy play patterns of the game. I think it makes a lot of sense in just jamming whatever you find fun

Completely agree with you! Unfortunately card games nowadays do not reward deckbuilding anymore because of internet etc, if they did you would be top 10 on the ladder without a doubt.
Your comments about high elo master is true. While I do think like the top few players are very slightly better as in they make less mistake (having better endurance and concentration), I think piloting skill more or less peaked at masters really, most people at 100lp master who climbed there by piloting suppression decks can pilot the deck as well as the high elo master who spam the deck. The difference is they just got bored and don't want to grind more because like you said it is just really boring mirror matches up there. Switching to meme deck at 0 lp master facing other meme deck is a lot more fun (while you can play unranked doing that, you get matched with weak low elo player who can't pilot well so it's not the same). In my opinion Riot should've just hidden all those play statistics from the public and not allow people to pull match history outside the client so nobody can figure out the highest winrate decks. Also the logic of letting everybody see what the top players are running makes no sense either, many people just copy pasting them just lead to less fun experience overall for others who don't.

It's an odd take. Playing the objectively best decks better than everyone else trying their hardest to do the same is, for me, one of the most accomplishing things to do. Sure you trounce diamond and even low Masters with Morg/Galio/Eddy especially if they are playing "fun" decks, but once you are facing lots of mirrors and optimized decks piloted by good players you have no excuses. If you are climbing it's because you are better. One tech choice, one pass, one open attack can be the difference and at least around that 400-500 mark it's been genuinely fun to actually have to try to be good at the deck (which I am clearly not enough yet). Running a Snnuy deck between 0-30 LP over and over is certainly a kind of fun, but definitely not my jam, and not everyone has the time that ^^ has to craft decks for a living.

That's enviably. I couldn't imagine having fun that way. It sounds like taking apart and putting together the same jigsaw puzzle over and over. I wish I could say I enjoy playing that way. It would make it easier when determining what game I'm playing after work. Also mogwai doesn't make decks for a living cuz he has the time, he makes decks for a living because he's built enough decks that people have determined they'd like to see him do it
Take a break whenever you need it man. Burnout is a terrible thing. Dreaming about the mageseeker inquisitor is like after my fist day at a McDonald's summer job, whenever I closed my eyes I heard all the beeping and all the orders even without falling asleep xd. So yeah, the best videos are where you're in a good mood, because that energy transfers to the viewer!
It's been 20 years and I still can't forget about the McDonald's Rap.
The same happens with tft everyone doing the same traits with the exact build that just searched up on internet . At least the champ pool forces the "unlucky players" to go for other traits a bit.
Mogwai, you introduced me to both Legends of Runeterra and Marvel Snap for which I am most grateful. Why not take a breather and show off Duelyst or whatever DC and Warhammer have to offer?
MOG, def take a break if you need one. Getting burnt out is always terrible. If you do take a break, I say either highlight some lesser known card games you like or do some single player stuff like slay the Spire. I'd love to watch either of those things. That being said, fun af deck and thank you for building it and showing it off
9:20 Same, I play card games to test and improve my own deckbuilding, so winning feels rewarding. Playing metadecks feels like using a car to win a street marathon, like wow, you won with zero effort from your part, here's your medal, now what?

My brother had this really cool idea when Kai'sa first came out of putting her in lurk decks to give her the keyword and let her scale super hard. Regrettably, lurk decks only stack lurk damage after you have the keyword and the keyword doesn't apply to all other copies of Kai'sa. Twas quite sad. :(

Playing eve as a fun deck atm with Eddy, wincons are xolani (a lot of buffing units in there and siren song etc), the tortoise that doubles the first Follower or my personal favourite: the void abomination with deathless, scout and elusive, you can’t kill that dude because he always gets deathless again because it’s a keyword :D
Maybe it's worth playing other modes of this game, just to distract yourself a little. Or maybe (more difficult) create some kind of unofficial tournament format with others?..

100% agree on the current meta rant. I dont care about winning/losing but the lack of match variety really makes the gameplay feel stale...
Do a climb where you can only play the deck of the last opponent you beat until you beat another player with it and take over that other player's deck !!
Could be fun since you can easily copy an opponent's deck with the after-game screen.
Camo Horror is my favorite evolve card, Tried forcing it in many non kaisa decks.

The last game was s3xy af, I ain't gon' lie, damn supressions and curses BS, and you just said, nope.. No Taxes for me, and still smacked the living daylights out of your opponent. That was INSANE! (Stop that though, Riot will not nerf the bs like this haha)
Suppression should get its cost reduced by 1 at the end of the round, one time. Or curses in general.
I feel like it would be a good way to nerf the card without destroying it, like many other nerfs.
Whenever there is a set in Stone meta on ranked matches I would suggest you to do content with viewers or others streamers or concept that doesn't involve ranking so you have refreshing gameplay and content as well as not being bored

Well, unfortunately in card games, 90% of players are usually not very bright people who, because they don't understand synergy and assemble their own decks, simply go through the list of the best decks xD In fact, it has been getting stronger lately due to completely ill-thought-out mechanics and cards they added. :c

If you want to remove a card to add a one off or 2 of siren's song that card is so fun in this deck. In one of my earlier Kaisa eve decks I played 2 in a row and then Kaisa and she got insane buffs off 3 3/2 husks because of domination.

Don’t feel bad about it. I actually just returned to this game about a month ago. Want to know why? It was the Azir and Irelia meta. It was so unimaginably bad and unfun that I quit playing for multiple years lmao. It always rubbed me the wrong way that they promoted the game saying, “One of the benefits of digital only is that we can patch stuff that is broken!!!” Yeah except they wait way too long to do certain balance changes IMO. Nevertheless, the current meta is not too bad, I’ve seen a pretty wide variety so far but I have only climbed into platinum so far

Personally dislike Evelynn Kaisa it's just boring to me but most of the fun ones got rotated out. Kaisa Viktor was SO fun 😔 Waiting for if Mogwai's brain comes up with a new Kai'sa concept cause I'm not sure personally there's probably options but can't really figure a fun synergy out with what we have. Great video tho and glad to see Kaisa! Please take breaks when the meta gets stale also! It's all good I'd rather long term for you, potentially try the new TFT set in a week?

The reason a lot of people just copy paste decks and play them is because the only thing they care about is actually playing the game. To a lot of people creating a fun and unique deck that doesn't totally suck is time consuming and not worth it. They would rather spend their time actually using their cards. Especially to top players, understanding what makes a deck work and perfecting their technical play is way more important than innovating the meta.
Have you finished all the content for the Path of Champions? That could be an alternative if the meta gets stale

Dont worry, even low elo isnt any different:). Im gold and I basically dont play against anything else than Viego, Morde, Morgana, Galio and Elder in whatever composition. They really need to balance it

People generally prioritize winning above all mogwai. It’s not a hard concept to grasp. You have a right to whine, but you did not earn that right. No one “earns” the right to whine. Whining is a choice and it is harmful to the soul.

Riot should have just limite evolved Kai'Sa "deal 1 per each keyword" to being used like 1 time per turn to nerf her instead of nerfing mostly non-demacia variants
