- The Lisbon Metro dates back to the 1950s, and has steadily grown in to a decently-sized system! Enjoy these clips I took while on vacation in Lisbon!

All of the current Lisbon Metro rolling stock was built in the Sorefame/Bombardier factory in Amadora, Portugal, from 1991 to 2002. Sorefame closed in 2005 after being acquired by Bombardier in 2001. The trains contain a lot of Siemens equipment, including the motors, which certainly explains why they sound just like the R160 with Siemens motors.
C651...
They sound identical to the Copenhagen S-train too. Also built by Siemens
Ĺp⁰yg
It also sounds fairly similar to the GE 5GEB motors used by Breda in the United States (Washington, DC’s defunct 1000 Series post-rehabilitation and Los Angeles’ Breda A650s). Although the GE motors are/were significantly higher-pitched than these Siemens motors.

wow I love how it sounds...
about Sorefame, do you know that back in the late 70s, they built the shells for the CTA 2400 series? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2400_series_(CTA)
11:34 He didn't want to show his face
I saw that.
Those trains sound nice
dydy hello
hi
They sound similar to our Siemens C651 trains 😍
Sonic 57053 Kinda, R160B uses the modern IGBT-VVVF Siemens traction motors compared to the old GTO-VVVF or thyristor motors
Sonic 57053 IGBT-VVVF is much more reliable and energy saving compared to GTO motors which tends to breakdown often and the maintenance costs to maintain these old GTO motors are costly compared to IGBT-VVVF traction motors
Sonic 57053 Siemens SITRAC IGBT-VVVF AC traction motors
Show the train your talking about pls
15:30 nice to see a dog effectivelly helping a blind man.
it sounds like the New york R160 and Singapore C651 Trains!!
Reminds me of our Siemens/Kawasaki powered R160B’s
Yeah, they pretty much sound like if a R160B got a cold.
Sound like siemens R160
Yea
No it isn’t
jose pedro its my opinion
@@metrorailfan2334 #c651 from singapore metro instead.
こういった地上区間があればぜひ撮影したい。I would like to take a picture if there are such ground sections.
13:08 sounds like bochum B80D
FanRailer, I think you should record the Metro of CDMX. Some of the fleets are very nice, and a few of the lines, believe it or not, run on wheels. Go to Mexico City please!!!!!
Nice catch of the horn @10:30
Linda estação de olaias. Estive nela há dez anos atrás
Nice video!
These trains, the R160B, and the Copenhagen S-train Class SA/SE share traction motors from Siemens

at some point, you've gotta take a look at the Seville system, it's half light rail, half metro
Actually Portugal has a very similar system like seville. Search: "Porto Metro system"
I got a dumb portrait mode advertisement. What the????
it sounds exactly like the r160 siemens in the nyc subway
I would loke you to show the sound
Like(
Similar engines to r160
Siemens Propulsion
Why left-side running? Did the Brits design the system?
dfc99nyc I hate the Freedom Tower in New York City. The original twin towers that stood in Manhattan for almost 30 years were far better than those new buildings and I hate to say this but by not rebuilding new twin towers stronger and better we let the terrorists win. They defeated the United States on 9/11. Every time I look at pictures of the new Freedom Tower it makes me sick to my stomach. That is a big eye sore to the United States and it is big insult and disrespect to people who died on September 11, 2001 in the worst terrorist attack ever. You might not agree with me but I am just expressing how I feel.
Hotters 7060

The aluminium casing was calculated to last for 30 years.
Nearly half of the floors were empty. Even years before the incident they started renting out the floors for computing centers and storage rooms.
Port Authorities were more than happy they could get rid of the towers and handed them over to Silverstein Properties.
So after the demolition no serious business man would have rebuilded WTC 1 and WTC 2 in the identical way.
Portugal drove on the left until 1928 (why Macau still does) and mainline trains still drive on the left (similar situation to France, Mainland China, Italy and Sweden. The planners were exploring the possibility of a connection with the rail system?
Anyone else see the stupid guy standing in the middle of the doorway? That bugged me a lot. Could've just waited.
And those doors closes like a knife at outside "beep x5" *closes* SLAM AS KNIFE noise and I wonder how that dumb guy survided from being trapped by doors. :P Doors are dangerously inside of those trains that color is red on walls the rest of trains that inside is blue they closes normally.
10:50
Sounds a bit like the R160B
Sorry, but it's the traction motors from the c651.
Nice!

11:35 bro care more about his face than driving the train
There is still only one completely underground Metro in the world.
R160 Hidden?
Did Alstom made these?

The trains contain a lot of Siemens equipment, including the motors, which certainly explains why they sound just like the R160 with Siemens motors. The trains, at least the later series, have self-driving capabilities, which were only ever deployed in one of the lines and were considered obsolete and discontinued about ten years ago.
Nope, it was sorefame and bombardier.
Sounds like C651 from Sg
Eu viajo todo o dia
Como assim
yall guys liking the city i live?
R160 Siemens? :Thonk:
😮
Cadê a estação aeroporto
A linha vermelha já faz até ao Aeroporto desde Julho 2012.
10:51 Não vejo as pessoas 😑😤
Somehow to me Iberian metro systems are forgettable but great video
Lisbon has a small system but it has 4 lines, has expanded greatly in the last 12 years and has some of the prettiest stations of any metro I've ever seen. The Portuguese understand esthetics and the importance of public art. Lots of love for Lisbon!
Lisbon Metro has absolutely NOTHING to do with either Madrid or Barcelona, in which the stations are basically clones of one another. Maybe you'd change your mind if you actually looked at some photos and videos of this system.
