The movie "McKenna's Gold" was (very) loosely based on this tale of a hidden waterfall in a narrow inaccessible canyon that was filled with gold. Also, your outakes you inadvertently posted at 14:20 are pure gold :)
We have always heard of this lost legendary waterfall filled with Gold nuggets at the bottom of it and we wanted to find it. We used publications from Maureen Johnson to help locate it. Using that with Google Earth and our drone we think we may have found it, but the hike in is brutal and may take several days. but if it is true then it should be filled with incredible placer Gold. So many lost waterfalls, tales of gold. Many there be, from the days of old. Yonder in New Mexico the lost Adam's still lost. LA Paz county, they still can't find the bottom. I found one off the Colorado and do quite well, found it fishing. What a tale to tell.😊

I've heard from other placer miners who have mechanically mined ancient waterfalls and they found that in the pool at the very base of the waterfall, there was very little gold, and the theory is that there is too much turmoil for the gold to settle out, so you may want to look further below the pool area. Also, i have seen an occasion where there was a heavy gold deposit (1000+ ounces) on one side of a creek just before the creek went through a narrow gap and over a waterfall. The narrow gap itself also had very little gold.
that makes complete sense water can move mountains literally so if u dont find any gold at all at the base chances are that there was to much volume and pressure to drop gold out,very good point.

I was out in the AZ desert last week on a prospecting vacation. I saw a huge jackrabbit, flock of quail, a falcon, wild burros, a road runner, but no tarantulas. Hmmm. next time

During the rebuilding of the Goldfield Ghost Town, AZ, an unmarked grave was uncovered. The remains were referred to as “the unknown prospector” and the bones dated back to the late 1800s. It was discovered this was not a lone grave but part of a larger cemetery whose markers had rotted away.

Maybe check at the top of the waterfall to see if it widened before going over the edge. That would be a low-pressure zone . What happens to gold in a low-pressure zone ? Exactly it drops out .
