  • Making the most of the good summer weather in Tasmania I load up the pack and raft and journey kilometres downstream on a gold bearing river in Tasmania. I test out new ground for rich gold deposits and halfway through day two I find what I'm after a huge alluvial deposit with thousands of pieces of gold by the end of day three I take home a small fortune of gold.

Levi, When I lived in Norway as a little girl, I was told if you are going to sit down in the forest always look for where the fens grow. Because the snakes don't like the smell of it for some reason. It ready works. I told a friend of mine who lives in Florida and had problems with snakes around his house that keep surprising him. He did plant some ferns and did not have any more problems.

Me and my husband prospected for 2 years, living in a tent and moving around a lot in Northern California and Southern Oregon, in the US. You are in some beautiful country! It has been 30 years, and brought back some great memories. We had a 3" dredge, and a sluice box. It was a hard job, but worth the effort. Best of luck!

Awesome stuff mate, reminds me of being a kid at the local golf course hunting for balls in the bush and the creeks to sell back to the Pro Shop. Always took em home, checked em out, washed em and then sold em back to the Pro Shop. Urban prospecting in Sydney in the 70s.
The calm and serenity of exploring creeks and climbing through bush and finding a natural clearing is what I'm picking up from your videos.

If I'd ever come across that much gold i would camp out there for as long as I needed to clear out that whole river

I’ve though to myself on may occasions, “the heck with it, I’m moving to Australia!”. Or Tassie… lol. These videos make it very hard for me to keep those thoughts at bay. I love watching these videos. I have no idea how you managed to force yourself to leave this area on this trip. The fever would have taken over for me and I would have called in sick to work (and life) and would have stayed until there was no gold left. I look forward to the rest of the videos from this location.
    Cheers from Ontario, Canada 🍻

I checked into emigrating to Australia from the USA. It's not an easy process for sure, maybe when I'm ready to retire from the world in 3 to 4 years.

Tasmania has been a gem this summer we’ve had such unusually dry weather but I’m sure it’ll switch soon we do need some rain but I dare not call on it after seeing what the mainland is going through
