    FYI.. Very important vent location. I have many years experience as a semi truck driver with these heaters. Most semi trucks around the world have them. The vents are always close to the floor. Whether you use an electric heater, Mr Heater propane Buddy heater, or any other type in any tent, vehicle, RV set up, all heaters or vents must be as low as possible because heat will rise naturally and push all the cold air down. If you place your heat source as slow as possible it will start warming from the bottom up. If you place it high your bottom area will have a very hard time warming up and you will use more energy.

    Great video I have a propex in my 5x8 cargo trailer. I put the cotton heat ducts on and it is very quiet now. Made a big difference.

    Thanks for the report! Cool experiment. Glad it worked! I'm considering an Escapade and would want that heater option too. Now go out there and get yourselves some properly insulated jackets with hats and gloves. You made me cold watching you wearing those thin softshell jackets, ball caps, and no gloves! Brrr. : ))

    Would it be possible to get an accurate fuel consumption measurement by weighing the bottle and comparing it to the manufacturer's empty weight? Just a thought. :)

    The mess you are referring are clay pigeon for target shoot/ skeet shooting, they are fully biodegradable, at least is seems they cleaned the shotgun shells which are the worst but in this case you are misinformed.

    What's your overall verdict with the heater? Do you think it's necessary for teardrops if you're camping in the winter? How often would you say you use it?

    • @ProjectBasecamp
      @ProjectBasecamp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it necessary? Probably not, but we basically use it every time we go out in the winter. We would probably be fine with a 12v blanket, but it is really nice to be able to move around and sit up and not be freezing. Also, with the dry air, the condensation stays pretty low.

    Do you think you could make it quieter if you made a splitter and had 2 heat vents ? I'm looking into making a small camper over this coming winter as a project and this is the heater setup I'd like to use . Thanks for the video !

      Not sure if splitting will help with the noise, but they do make a noise reducing pipe which I may try in the future.

      @@ProjectBasecamp there is. The ones that are distributed from vancafe are jetted by propex to 11" wc instead of the UK version rated at 37mbar or 14" wc. Wouldn't you want the inlet vent mounted on the outside of the trailer? You probably don't want to recirculate the air from the cabin.

    • @ProjectBasecamp
      @ProjectBasecamp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point is to recirculate the air inside, just like your house furnace does, much more efficient heating already warm air

    • @henrikm4657
      @henrikm4657 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectBasecamp I understand that concept, but I would think that you'd fairly quickly deplete the oxygen in a small confined space. You'd definitely have to have a fresh air vent in the cabin (I know that it's a heat exchanger and doesn't use the air from the cabin in the combustion), which will then draw in cold air anyway.

    • @ProjectBasecamp
      @ProjectBasecamp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henrikm4657 it’s an internally combusted unit, no oxygen depletion.

    • @henrikm4657
      @henrikm4657 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectBasecamp I know, I wrote that in my edited comment. I actually have one of these myself, but I haven't mounted it permanently yet. I guess what I was trying to say is that you need some ventilation in a space like that, regardless of if you're heating it or not. That ventilation typically pulls cold air from outside (fan, vent, whatever). So it would make sense to me that if you're going to pull that cold air from the outside, might as well do it through the inlet of the Propex. Maybe I'm completely wrong. For example, a lot of pellet stoves work that way. You pull air from the outside, heat it, and blow it into the space you're heating.
