Thanks for a most enjoyable and funny video. I lost it when Simon pulled the long rebar out, all I could think of was changing an old Tommy Cooper joke: ' A man floats into a bar'............OUCH!...............'it was an Iron bar'
Your laughter is infectious. Actually your waterway is pretty clean. No shopping carts or bicycles. Great fun video. Love the Castles. And the cute little cubby. Score on the anchor and fender. And the waterway is a little cleaner. Cheers.
That looked like tons of fun! What an Awesome find, that home made boat anchor! Not to mention, cleaning up the ocean floor... A Great video! Thanks guys!
What a stunning day. Good to see ya taking time out to do something different and a hoot to boot. Under Bridges and next to wharfs paths and topaths anywhere people have access. Keep having fun.Keep at it now.😮😅😊
oh Simon soon as you cast it out i thought the most likely thing you will get is either a anchor or a cannon another great vlog what a beautiful backdrop the castle makes
awesome 1st find. Lots to be found in canals but this is the 1st time ive seen someone magnetfish a castle, would be cool to see bits of a shield or armour from the days of yore
I like the bar idea. One thing to think about is room to walk through. Maybe a bar that folds down when your not using it would give that extra bit for the walkway
That lump at 22:50 is probably a railway fish plate (real name) used to bolt lengths of rail together. The expansion gaps they caused created the clickety-clack train noise.
From my magnet fishing days on the river Cam when I used to recover bicycles and shopping trolleys by the dozen, I would say a grappling iron is essential. I worked from a heavy wooden punt, would tie off the line when taut and run to the other end of the punt. That pivoting of the boat would yank the find out of the silt and save a lot of effort :) Congrats on your first cast though, great find.
there was something mad in the back of my head (yep that's another story haha) but i just said, bet he pulls up an anchor chain, i didn't know it was his first throw, just didn't come to mind, then i saw the anchor, what, that's mad - worst would have been, magnet contacts anchor, Simon pulls, and pulls himself into the water, it happens
Can you get an underwater gold detector now that would be really exciting. You could then hang out around super yacht ports and pull up some nice jewelry.
I use to do this but with a drag hook. Best thing I ever pulled up was a Honda 650 enduro motorcycle. Still sporting the sticker you sent me for best joke. 😁Love from Canada
The bit metal you call a dager looking at the wall where you found it it was ment to have a gate it could well be the hanger for it these would have been banged into ahole the filled with mortar it was definitely the right shape and thickness
"Castle Walls" by Styx Once in a dream Far beyond these castle walls Down by the bay where the Moonlit water falls I stood alone while the minstrel sang his song So afraid I'd lost my soul There in the fog his song kept calling me Leading me on with its haunting melody Deep in my heart a voice kept echoing I knew I'd soon be wandering Far beyond these castle walls Where the distant harbour meets the sky There the battle raged like hell And every dove had lost its will to fly Far beyond these castle walls Where I thought I heard Tiresias say Life is never what it seems And every man must meet his destiny That would have been a great background song to this segment. lol!
A word of warning fishing under the bridges at Conwy, the old fisherman used to dump old anchors and large metal bits they had trawled up. Also I suggest that you go to the areas that don't dry out for your magnet fishing....both pontoons you fished from you can walk around a spring low water. There are also large metal obstruction on the river; vehicles and wrecks. Good luck and keep laughing together.
Magnet fishing looks like a lot of fun. Be VERY careful though if you ever do it from your dinghy. I saw a video of a guy doing that and he flipped the dinghy over try to pull up his object. He was NOT happy since everything he had in the dinghy was now on the bottom of the water. Another guy using his dinghy had something on that he was pulling up and the item PUNCTURED the side chamber of his dinghy.. He was most definitely NOT HAPPY either.
First time I did magnet fishing on the Liverpool Leeds canal , I latched onto something so big that I lost the bloody magnet. Found out later it was a huge drain valve!!
Thank you, I really enjoyed that! I live in Delaware and go with my daughter and granddaughters down to the Delaware River in Old New Castle where my daughter lives. Unfortunately there's so much crap in it, including needles, that it's just not safe to take the grandkids into it to adventure. The wildlife however is unbelievable. We've even had gators in some of our local ponds that had to be removed(people dump them when they get too big). Question: Do you all in the UK camp in pop-up campers? I have for years as they are lighter and the costs are cheaper when driving hundreds of miles to a destination. I watch a number of your UK channels but never see them on any UK channels. Just curious. Thank you, love your channel.
Watch Northants Magnet Fishing and Peaky Dippers to see what to do, Peaky always says "Check Your Crud" In other words chip the concretion away from the metal to see what is underneath. One piece you put in the bag lloked like it could have been Grapeshot or Canister but it would need to have the rust chipped off to see weather it was or not.
Looks like boat loads of fun but it does come with a major health risk for some people, particularly those with a pacemaker as a powerful magnet can shut the pacemaker down and in the case of a CRT it can trigger a shock which from personal experience is not fun at all
The thing that looks like the end of a sword appears to be wrought iron. The way that it is delaminating in layers is typical of wrought iron, so that would put it at Victorian or older.
14.30 = musketball.-- - - 20.08 looks like a big door-latch (off a prison cell!) - - - It would have been a 'shock' find if you'd caught one of the powerlines that feed Anglesey!
@@ShipHappensAdventures Did you notice LOTS of motorcycles on Saturday. It was the Dragon Rally, and the checkpoint was behind the castle at Conway MCC
That's not really an anchor. It's called a "drag" which they drag around when they are trying to find something like a separated mooring anchor or a string of crab pots. Under water cables and such. Good find though, if you ever break your anchor line you got the gear to recover it.
I dont think personally that what you caught is an Anchor, I think its a Fishermans Net Grabber, That the Boat fisherman used to Find a lost net, that they had to cut loose after getting it fouled on a wreak or reef.
Around large old buildings, bridges, etc, there is so much metal trash, and disintegrating metal trash, that lots of items have so much metal trash on them that they appear magnetic. This includes non-magnetic coins & such.

I am laughing out loud at your combined shock at pulling up that anchor on your first magnet cast....!!! superb!
Hahaha, Simon is like a child laughing!!! Love it!!!!
You two should be on the telly, when he pulled that anchor in the tears were running down my legs😂😂
Simon's giggles make me smile.
Absolutely loved this episode. You two are great fun to watch.
Nice to see you two having some fun together
I so much enjoy laughing along with you guys! 👍🏼
I tell ya….Simon’s giggles are infectious 😂😂😂
You can’t help but smile when you hear Simon’s laugh! 😆
I was having a terrible day but I couldn't help but start laughing at this. Thank you very much!!

I would say it’s clean have you ever seen when they empty out canals in France, good lord all manner of things
When you got the anchor I thought Simon has got a shopping trolley 😂😮😂😂
That looked like tons of fun! What an Awesome find, that home made boat anchor! Not to mention, cleaning up the ocean floor... A Great video! Thanks guys!
Good to see Simod wearing a 'kill cord'. Well done!
Lots of fun and it was certainly a beautiful place to give it a try.

I love to see you having fun.
It’s nice to have a day off from boat work every now and then!
You two crack me up the history of your country is amazing to me
Simon, i think uou are a big winner you caught Gemma!!
That looked like fun, thanks for sharing.

awesome 1st find. Lots to be found in canals but this is the 1st time ive seen someone magnetfish a castle, would be cool to see bits of a shield or armour from the days of yore
Great fun magnet fishing, I did that years ago. Great idea what Simon said, sports magnet fishing.
That was fun to watch. cheers.
I like the bar idea. One thing to think about is room to walk through. Maybe a bar that folds down when your not using it would give that extra bit for the walkway
19:00 - This is close to where an old car garage was a decade or so ago. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the scrap metal came from there.
Love Conway, on a nice day we like to drive down for brekky then head into the mountains for a wild swim. So lucky to live on The Wirral.
Looks like a lot of fun.🍀
Keep fishing - don't let your anchor weigh you down....There is a sword down there somewhere!! John
That lump at 22:50 is probably a railway fish plate (real name) used to bolt lengths of rail together. The expansion gaps they caused created the clickety-clack train noise.
The magnet fishing comedy show 😂😂😂

The road tunnel that largely replaced the bridges was built on land and then floated out and sunk, so make sure you don’t pull that up!🤠🤠
I honestly thought Simon was pretending to pull something heavy on the first cast. That was SO funny!
Me too! We were so shocked at what came up on our first cast!!
there was something mad in the back of my head (yep that's another story haha) but i just said, bet he pulls up an anchor chain, i didn't know it was his first throw, just didn't come to mind, then i saw the anchor, what, that's mad - worst would have been, magnet contacts anchor, Simon pulls, and pulls himself into the water, it happens
Looked very fun. Beautiful castle. Got to see part of it most dont
It is definitely a cool place to go exploring!

The anode thing was a rail joint connector called a fish plate.
I use to do this but with a drag hook. Best thing I ever pulled up was a Honda 650 enduro motorcycle. Still sporting the sticker you sent me for best joke. 😁Love from Canada
Did your pontoon begin to float away after you pulled up the anchor? You've had us laughing as usual you pair 😅😊

"Castle Walls" by Styx
Once in a dream
Far beyond these castle walls
Down by the bay where the
Moonlit water falls
I stood alone while the minstrel sang his song
So afraid I'd lost my soul
There in the fog his song kept calling me
Leading me on with its haunting melody
Deep in my heart a voice kept echoing
I knew I'd soon be wandering
Far beyond these castle walls
Where the distant harbour meets the sky
There the battle raged like hell
And every dove had lost its will to fly
Far beyond these castle walls
Where I thought I heard Tiresias say
Life is never what it seems
And every man must meet his destiny

I would say that Simon already won the best thing he ever could when he got Gemma, no matter what they find with the magnet.

I thought you may have gone drone fishing with ya magnet 😂
Really enjoyed your video guys😊
I thought that when you pulled up that anchor, your dock was going to float down the river HaHa
hi, very good video, but you should try in the port, I think you will find a lot of things there. Keep it up and see you soon
I’d bet that anchor (grapple hook) was not the only thing in that area. Go back to the same spot and try again.
I thought it was anchors away not pull it up with a magnet. Mind looked like a great day out.
First time I did magnet fishing on the Liverpool Leeds canal , I latched onto something so big that I lost the bloody magnet.
Found out later it was a huge drain valve!!
I used to keep a fishing magnet on my sailboat. The best luck was at the marina where my my boat was kept.

Pop up campers are a thing, but high-top fixed roof campers are more common.
At first i thought Simon had pulled up the Anchor for the Pontoon your'e on.????????.
Ahh the nervous giggles
😂😂😂😂 That was hilarious
Unusual way to have fun
Got you hook line and sinker try that round your moorings what you get in scrap pays a bit more to fuel crack on next
Well, that was fun!
Simon Bond,stealth Castle busting
So fun
Very entertaining. 🤣👍

i watch these
Looks like a grappling hook to me 👍🏻
magnet fishing is good hey. i know of people that find motorbikes etc, one found a gun i recall.
Fun day
You'll have to go drone fishing!
At least you finally caught something fishing, albeit magnet fishing
Magnet fishing is a blast , you can throw it in the same direction and get 5 different things . Wait until you get your first sword or gun
It sure was fun!
Looks like boat loads of fun but it does come with a major health risk for some people, particularly those with a pacemaker as a powerful magnet can shut the pacemaker down and in the case of a CRT it can trigger a shock which from personal experience is not fun at all
Surely that's a grappling hook that someone used in days of old to storm the castle !
The thing that looks like the end of a sword appears to be wrought iron. The way that it is delaminating in layers is typical of wrought iron, so that would put it at Victorian or older.
Thx for the vid.
oh man i was laughing at this!
Just be sure you are not under the garterobe....lol!!!
I lost my anchor at the pontoon by the beach across from Deganwy, think you could pull it up for me haha?
Another anchor for Surinda!
cool vid thanks lee
Glad you enjoyed it
That anode looks like a railway fishplate
Over here in the US these people find all kinds of stuff including motorcycles bicycles safes junk and of course weapons

Did you guys manage to find your drone with the magnet, or is it not worth trying to locate it?
How magnetic is a drone? 🤔
I'd be interested to know what attracted you to the magnet fishing? Was it the pull of curiosity?😄
Remember in the UK there's a law you have to submit every thing to be reviewed by an Archeologist
Love to see,not meant to be,giggle giggles
That's mad I walked over that bridge on Sunday and was looking at that pontoon 👍 only just started the video hopefully you get your drone back 🤞
This was Saturday, so you’re abit safer from snags there now!!

Next time I bet that simon will pull up a Spitfire engine!!!!
Can the magnet find lost drones?
I would love to go magnet fishing, but it's illegal where I live.
Why didn't you go after your drone ??
I dont think personally that what you caught is an Anchor, I think its a Fishermans Net Grabber, That the Boat fisherman used to Find a lost net, that they had to cut loose after getting it fouled on a wreak or reef.
First cast wonder.😂
Any metal that contains iron is known as ferrous so any ferrous metal is attracted to a magnet.
Did'nt go looking for the drone then
The American woman tourist who asked "Why was the Castle built so close to the railway?"
Those "magnetic rocks" might be meteorites and therefore worth some money. If they are meteor wrongs, not so much.
A lot of money, be careful what you drag up. You can throw good stuff in da trash
Around large old buildings, bridges, etc, there is so much metal trash, and disintegrating metal trash, that lots of items have so much metal trash on them that they appear magnetic. This includes non-magnetic coins & such.
