Nice video, Scott. We just overflow the Canyon a couple days ago on our way to visit family in Vegas. We had clear skies, but 11,500’ over the Dragon Corridor was really bumpy. Nonetheless, we did cross it off the list. Truly spectacular scenery! We did use the chart in ForeFlight for this, great resource.

I’ve flown into KFLG several times this last year, always an interesting landing with the winds there. Great FBO

Very nice footage! But for me the best thing is ur symbol of the jet on the VFR Map👌🏼"The fighting Bonanza"😀 Didnt recognised it earlier in other videos.

We went out to Phoenix for spring training a few years ago, one day we drove up to Wilson and caught the train that takes you on up to the South Rim... its something I think everyone should see at least once in their life. I don't have the words to describe how beautiful and surreal... i was just in awe as we walked the paths around the edge, where we were it was around 16 miles across to the other side, and a mile or so deep. The most impressive site I've ever seen. Thanks for the video!

Memories! One year heading to SMXgig we overflew the Grand Canyon. We launched out of Moab, and headed towards the Canyon, and followed a few zig-zags across the Grand Canyon, then continued west. I think you had better visibility than we had. Also - that “sporting” landing reminded me of a landing at Santa Fe one year on the way home from SMXgig. Winds were (thankfully) right down the runway, but 28G42. Sporting indeed!

Thanks John@We need another SMX Gig. Duluth is just too far north;)

Good job! I used to fly helicopter tours there and the radio can get pretty busy.

Great video Scott, and loved the landing in Flagstaff! I haven't landed with that much wind, and it was interesting to see the gust lift you off again. Those Bonanza wings sure to love to fly! :-) I hope to get to fly the Grand Canyon sometime this year...

Welcome to Flagstaff! Very normal day. I love the Canyon flight and 1 day I'll do the route. I've overflown at 14,500 but never end to end. The corridor looks like a fantastic ride. Would love to tag along when you come back!

Grand Canyon is wonderful....but don't forget see Sedona, AZ. The big red rocks are breathtaking. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Sedona was beautiful. Airport restaurant is very good. We spent the night there one year on the way to SMXgig. There is a small hotel right up on the bluff by the airport (at least there was...). Hot tub at night under the stars. Beautiful!

    As always, great video, 👌
I flew over in a (tour) helicopter about 10 years ago, someday I hope to fly over it in my Bonanza.

Fantastic video- thanks again for posting these.
Question: what is your plan if there’s ever an engine out while crossing the cannons?
Does one aim to land at the basin, do they cross fingers & aim to cross canyon to land?
If runway elevation is around 5,000ft density altitude does one wish to climb to 12,000ft to have a possible 7,000ft cushion to best glide 7-10 miles?

    • @FlyWirescottperdue
      @FlyWirescottperdue  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Always have a spot picked out you can glide to... if possible!

Outstanding as usual; thanks. Q: I think you have at least a 16,000 ft . service ceiling, so just wondering why you were struggling to get much over 10k. I'm guessing it was due to very high DA.

John- thanks for watching. I didn't have a problem with power at all. It was the weather that was coming in, the bottoms of the clouds were about 10,500'. I needed to fly 11,500' northbound (with the cloud base at least 12,000') and 10,500' southbound to legally be in the corridor. Those are arbitrary altitudes, but are the requirements to fly the VFR corridor.
