    Key saying it was injuries in Washington for Young isn't the full story. Yes, he suffered an injury, but ultimately it was him being undisciplined and not adding to his game. He looks for sacks but doesn't stay in his lane making him a liability in the run game. And there was his lack of finishing plays. What was pointed out in SF's playoff game against GB last year is something Washington fans saw far too often. Young has leaned on his mystique since coming into the league.

    • @mattcarberry368
      @mattcarberry368 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      i'm so glad there's at least a few people around here who understand the nuances of this game... Chase Young has zero gap discipline and is a completely one dimensional pass rusher who doesn't even rush the passer very effectively... but especially in the run game, you can run straight over him, you can run straight through him, you can run around him, it doesn't really matter because he won't put up a fight either way lol he seems happier to just let himself get pancaked so he can lay down and relax for the rest of the play

    Funny how a situational edge player can get 14M for 7 sacks, getting 2M per sack. But a full time RB who can get 1k yards and 10tds gets 12M. That’s 1M per 100yard AND a TD.

    • @mzakaria10
      @mzakaria10 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really, weight of the value is inverting imo.
      As we all know it's a pass first league and feels like it's moving more into that tendency each year. Thus less fervour and demand for a premier or bell cow RB. Back in the day a RB getting 20-30 rushes a game was the norm. Now that's pretty much how many times a team runs it per game. The leader for rushing attempts last season was only avg 19/game.
      On the defensive side, if you're specialty is being a ball hawk or pass rusher, your value and demand has gone up just a little bit more now.
      My last point is annectdotal but it feels like teams can get a free agent or rookie RB in and that'll get the job done lmao.

    As a Washington fan , the facade of Young was uncovered long before.the 49ers called him out befor the SB. Young has the size but when put his tape up against Mintez Sweat , there is a reason why Sweat was the trade the hurt the defense here, why the Bears gave him a monster deal , why Washington got a 2nd round for him and why the Bears defense immediately improved. They went from 28th to 20th in points allowed, 23rd to 12th in yards allowed and from 22nd to third in takeaways.

    I don't think Keyshawn has seen tape of Chase Young. They didn't give up on him because he got hurt, they gave up on him because he's built like Tarzan but plays like Jane. You look at Nick Bosa out there, giving 110% every play, chasing the ball like a flippin' maniac, then look at Chase Young as he trots along while giving 'pursuit' to a ball carrier who ended up getting in the end zone, it'll frustrate any coach. And you can't get him to give more effort than he does. So the team that drafted him said good riddance, and the team that rented him said good riddance.
    The one thing that Skip didn't use to win this particular debate was, if the Saints were so in on Chase Young, why only give a 24 year old 'pass rusher' a 1 year contract? Because he's simply not that guy. They love the talent, and I'm sure NO think they can get max effort out of him, but they'll be mistaken as well. And Keyshawn, 12 sacks for Chase young? Dude has 17 in the last 4 years, come on man! That's not gonna happen

    Key’s point was spot on the guy is 6’5 270 when you shred your knee at that size and your job is to be relentless every down it’s gonna take some time to come back and I don’t think he has the same explosiveness he did as a rookie but if he trimmed down just a tad he could be the monster everyone expected him to be

    I don’t agree with Skip about many things, but I agree with his take on Chase Young. As a Washington fan, he always wanted us wanting more, even after his rookie year before the injury. You look at Chase, and his stature enamors you, but his motor just isn't there. Bullrushing on just about every play does not work. He seemed never to develop any other moves to rush the passer.
