Fantastic tutorial! This is how they should ALL be. You took the time to explain CLEARLY what each function does in the overall structure and made no assumptions about people navigating around the unit. Cannot thank you enough. Truly!
Happy to hear that, thank you!
Superb tutorial
I’m glad I watched this. I find the official documentation lacking, trying to be a design project more than a user manual. While I found chunks of it helpful, I couldn’t wrap my head around projects/scenes/groups/patters.
Your video made these concepts crystal clear, and I learned some things. Thank you.
Thanks, happy to hear that :)
Hi Son Wu, I have to say that TE really needs to put you on the payroll ;-)... You are by far the most clear, interesting and updated youtuber depicting new gear from TE and as a fan of both TE and your channel, I can't be more happy than now whenever I see a new video from you. I enjoy my KO2 a lot but you make us become little TE ninjas like you :). Also many kudos and thanks for all the OP-1 Field videos that you've made over 2023 as again, you contributed a lot in increasing my knowledge with my gear. I will FOR SURE ask for some private lessons from you on either TE gear or Electron stuff in 2024. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see and hear more!
Hey! Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad my teaching style suits your needs and is helping you along your music journey. I look forward to our potential future lessons :)
hold shift and the pads you want to solo, you can only do it i one group at a time, then you only hear that one pad. Good for starts or endings. Hard to do when preforming but it works.
Thanks for sharing!
Great tip thanks
Thank you Son Wu for taking the time to make these tutorials, excellent work! 🙏
My pleasure, thank you for watching!
Thank you Son Wu!
You are the very best teacher.
Everything so clear.
Excellent.
Thank you for the kind words!
super helpful & concise breakdown. Just subscribed, thanks
Thank you! Your tutorial for the KO II is the BEST I've seen. You are a natural teacher. Cheers!
Thanks I am happy to hear that :)
Great stuff man - super clear and concise, thanks so much!
Thank you!
Thanks for these! I was having a hard time wrapping my head around my KO II the last couple weeks. The way you've presented the information progressively and visually really has been clicking a lot better for me than other tutorials I'd checked out.
Thank you so much, happy to hear it. There's a new tutorial in the series coming out in 4 hours :)
Great video - clear and concise - super helpful.
Thank you! Happy to hear that!
What an incredible tutorial, thank you very much!
My pleasure, thank you for watching!
Great tutorial series. Especially those new to sample based production
Thank you so much!
This helps a lot! Other videos have not been as helpful, thank you for some important basics.
Glad it was helpful! Happy to hear that :)
As a 25 year teaching veteran, I have to say that was outstanding!! So good!!
Thank you so much, that's nice to hear :)
any chance you'll get your hands on the seqtrak by yamaha? @@SONWU
I've been waiting for this. I've had my KOll, since the release and not only have I not had time to dive in, I don't really have a background in samplers so it's a new art form for me. Still trying to figure out the workflow and how to incorporate it into what I like to do. Love your videos!
Hi Novak! I love your videos too! Great to see you here.
@@BillyRayBlackwood thanks dude! I got a lot of education from this channel 👌🏼
Hey! Thanks for checking out the video, I enjoy your videos too! And also am a fan extreme stabilization on videos :)
@@SONWU yes! What a wonderful accident 👏🏼. Can’t wait for more of these!
Great stuff. I’m ready for much more KO II tutorials 🙏
Next one probably on Wednesday…ring that bell if you haven't yet 😉
Thanks son wu, I really want to know this better like I do a pocket operator, I'm spending a week in Vegas in 2 weeks which I'm sure I will be busy but I'm also sure I'll be up late and wanting to jam. I got the Fanboy Case ready to go and I'm taking the KO in my carry on. Pretty sure this is the only thing I'll bring, I brought an elektron model cycles last vacation a couple years back.
My pleasure!
Perfect travel machine, enjoy the holiday :)
Straight forward. Thanks!
my pleasure!
these are incredible videos!!!!!! thank you!!!!
My pleasure! 🙏
Just bought it and after an hour you nailed the first question you answered. way to go. 🎉 😂 thanks I’m dumb
Thanks!!!
Good luck learning the thing :)
Great video that's easy to digest!
Glad you think so!
The easiest tutorial on K.O. 2 on youtube! Thanks man
Thank you so much, that is nice to hear!!!
@@SONWU NP. Can you erase a project?
Yup, MAIN + 1-9 (depending on which project you want to erase) + ERASE@@bbailey0625
super helpful breakdown as usual ✌️
Thank you!
Brilliant Son-Wu. Love the way you go about having this explained. When pressing PLAY and then selecting a scene, you can set the K.O.II to switch to another scene instantly or when a Bar finishes. You don't know how do you? Again, thanks for the good work. Jam on it !
Thank you! Check section 14 of the manual…you can edit the behaviour of scene changes in the system menu!
@@SONWU many thanks. well spotted.
Awesome! You made using the KOii extremely easy to understand and follow. I appreciate the overviews, pace, and summary of each function as you proceeded. Pedagogy is an art and a science. But never simple or easy.
I part-time teach rhetoric... my mentor told me; there are only two rules. Teach with love and if one can't explain something at least three different ways... you don't understand it yourself. So, I'm normally hitting the books before each session just to sure I'm prepared.
I haven't yet received my KOii. I'll reach out once in hand if I need any private lessons.
Thank you so much. #SonWu
Thank you so much for this glowing review :)
Let me know when you are ready for some lessons, until then…enjoy!
Best tutorial created
THANK YOU!
These jams are top quality
Thank you!
excellent overview - thank you.
🙏
Thanks for the explanation! ❤
My pleasure!
Awesome explanation! Thanks again
My pleasure!
Thanks for the tutorial, just got mine in the mail :)
My pleasure, enjoy your new toy!
THANK YOU for this 🙌🏻
My pleasure!
This will come in so handy when my KO 2 finally arrives!!!
Hope you'll enjoy it!
Looking forward to some good jams from you!
@@luioskattusch3497 🤘😁🤘
Finally, thx a lot bro 👌
No problem 👍
Great tutorial video! Enjoy it. Just got my ep-133 a few days ago. Luckily mine had no common issues like some had with theirs. But Im slowly enjoying it. It almost has the same workflow as my MPCX, though that sampler is insane! Lol
Glad you got a working unit! Yes, it's an amazing sampler!
What are the common issues bro? I am thinking of getting one.
@@justin-tyme the fader intermittent, built in speaker not working, or just doa. When i opened mine it was faced down and thats not good cause it’s resting on the knobs and fader. But luckily mine wasnt damaged. I would recommend it no doubt still.
@@Lovenpain thanks for the info!
Great video! Have you done a rundown on how copy/paste works in this thing? I’ve failed at that more than anything else.
Will do copy/paste/erase in a future video! Just check back for the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL1ORyz4b29f7qtIZs6hHVkKyLbkCQWJeM.html&si=5seNH312dkoT1Cpr
Perfect thank you so much! Hardware question, is it true that there are a lot of problems with the fader and sometimes the screen and that it is cheap and fragile?
From what I've heard, yes…but of course I don't have any reliable data. The fader feels light, but mine works without problems. The screen seems sturdy, as it is just LEDs behind plastic.
Dude you rock!
🙏
I think you are one of the best person to ask. A quick question. I can’t get MIDI out out of the. Ko I wanted to use the Roland aira t8 with it. I can get MIDI in from t8 to K.O. but not otherwise. I also tried it with keystep pro and could get MIDI in didn’t try the MIDI out on the keystep pro. Can you maybe explain where the problem is? Could this be another bug maybe? I also see the blue MIDI sign only when I go MIDI in. Would be great to read your opinion. If there is a bug, I am done with the K.O. it’s my third device😢
You need to set up MIDI out for the currently selected pad. Like in this video: th-cam.com/video/HdPz95s09qs/w-d-xo.html
How do I get the metronome only during recording?
Does this have glide between notes? So I can make westcoast wire sounds or bass glides up and down?
There is legato, but I think you can’t change the glide time
Thanks for the video! I have 2 questions.
1. Is it possible to mute tracks inside a group? (I know about soloing by pressing shift + the track number)
2. Is it possible to delete a group variation? Let's say you created A22, but your last Scene was 21. Can you delete it and then update a scene?
Cheers!
My pleasure!
1. I don't think so.
2. If you mean deleting patterns?
Yes, ERASE + GROUP deletes a pattern of a group.
2.1. since SCENES & PATTERNS are independent, you could just exchange the pattern, but keep the same scene.
1. You can mute a individual group(s) by holding in the group button(s) and pull down the fader. But not individual sounds in the groups, at least not on the fly while performing. You can go into the sound menu and adjust the volume of the sound if needed.
2. You can delete or modify both notes and recorded fader levels for the new pattern.
despite being a mdular junkie i love my ko2 but i am maybe at 30% on it. but i think ko 2 does very well with other small devices like the roland compact series. i synced and midied it to t8 or s1 and it works so good. you for sure you can play a whole show with those 2 or 3 devices,
True, that sounds like a good combo!
Hi. What’s kind of color material do you use for the table?
Hi, it's vinyl wallpaper :) with a plastic cover on top
Are you able to save projects and load new projects through usb once the 9 projects are used?
Yup, there's a backup function in the EP-133 sample tool
Yeah!! Thanks🎉
:) my pleasure!
nice tutorial :)
Thanks!
Another TH-camr said when switching patterns or themes, it won’t wait until the bar to finish before it switches, so you will have to time the switch perfectly when performing live. Is it still true or has this been fixed?
You can change in the settings, if it’s immediate or not!
@@SONWU Great to hear!
Bedankt
Ich habe zu danken :) 🙏
@@SONWU You deserve a lot more, such great and well thought out tutorials.
love you work ❤
Thank you for your video
Btw your voice sound tired
Take care yourself
I know Niigata is cold now😊
My pleasure, thank you!
Is it possible to duplicate an existing pattern in a group without creating a new scene? Learning this device as an OP-Z / PO user and this workflow is extremely weird by comparison. Really appreciate your tutorials!
Sure, check my copy, paste & erase tutorial in the playlist! It should be covered there
@@SONWU thanks so much!
Das wird mir sehr nützlich sein wenn mein KO2 irgendwann mal ankommt.
👌 Viel Spaß damit!
Is it me, or wouldn’t 99 projects and 9 patterns per group served us much better? 9 projects/songs is limiting and it’s unlikely you’ll ever need 99 patterns in a song (especially when the pattern length can be so long)
I think 9 patterns would be restrictive…but I agree 99 projects would be cool :)
Hey, that's a cool wristwatch! ID?
TIMEX COMMAND URBAN ;)
@@SONWU Thanks!
Do you offer lessons? I see op-z lessons. I’d pay for lessons on the KO2 if you offer it
Hey!
Sure, I offer private lessons on the KO2 as well…it's the same product in my shop! You can go ahead and book, and we'll discuss the rest on ko-fi :)
@@SONWU done! Looking forward to it
It's still beautiful, but I cant get over the lack of functionality and the downgrade at simple 16 grid sequencer. I had Circuit Rhythm before and it still has much more to offer than this for a cheaper price. But that is not to say it's not without its merit nevertheles the GAS is not strong with me on this one. Currently waiting for the Woovebox to be back on stock. Still. Great video.
I was disappointed in the beginning, but now I don't really mind too much.
Talk to me about this watch.
Damn…Timex really needs to sponsor me 😂 it’s the Timex Command Urban
Ok so ignoring the subject for a sec…what watch is that?
It's a TIMEX command urban / clear.
I think they are being discontinued…so be quick.
I bought two as they were throwing them out.
@@SONWU PURCHASED thanks!
Peter Griffin?
I don't know why you said that…but you know what really grinds my gears?
@@SONWU the commercial that pope up as I open your video had a guy who looked just like perter griffin exact image, I thought the comment would go to the commercial. Thanks for the tutorials you can see tricks and possibilities. Its hard to get a grasp of how to use all the functions if you have never done this.
@@estascosasraras I see :)
Yeah, all these devices seem pretty complex, when you are new to them. Once you know the basic concepts, they apply to a lot of music gear though.
Great video, thank you! Would the following alternative workflow be possible?...In scene 1 create all the patterns I need for my song (A) drums, (B) bass (C) melodies and (D) samples/misc then select the 4 patterns (A thru D) I want for say the intro and commit them to scene 2. Go back to scene 1 and select the 4 patterns (A thru D) I want for verse 1 and commit them to scene 3, repeating this process for additional verses, choruses, breaks, outro, for all the sections of the song?
