  • 2014 Ford Focus ST radiator fan not kicking on solution.
    EDIT: If that fuse blows multiple times after short drives, your O2 Sensors are bad. Replaced both of mine and ever since then the fan has been working properly.

    If you plug the new fuse in and it immediately blows, one or both of your 02 sensors are bad and need to be replaced. That's very important to pay attention to. Thanks for watching!

    Ford mechanic here. I looked up the fuse information on the Ford technician website and F32 in that fusebox is the fuse for the cooling fan relay, not the o2 sensors. Which makes perfect sense to me. That's why the fan worked when they hooked it directly to power. They basically just bypassed the fuse and relay all together.
    If you had an issue with anything to do with the o2 sensors, you would most likely have a check engine light on as well. Hope this helps the issue make a little more sense to anyone reading 😁

    • @xXTruBum14XxTv

      So question, why is it that relay only blew when both of my o2 sensors went out? Once I got those replaced that fuse never went out after that and I never understood fully what correlation that fuse had with my o2's and the fan

    • @danielcevello6148
      @danielcevello6148 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xXTruBum14XxTv they may not have actually been bad. Would the fuse blow immediately when replaced before you replaced the O2s?
      I didn't look over the wiring diagrams, but if that's the case, there may be a shared ground or power source that I am unaware of. I could definitely see the fuse blowing if the HO2S heater circuit was shorted in the sensor and it shared a common wire with the fan circuit

      I was thinking about running a switch for the fan but decided to wait until I get a bigger fan haha. But yea lots of people have thanked me cause I've kept them from dropping hundreds of dollars on stuff they don't need when in reality their o2 sensors and that fuse are the only things that need to be replaced. This is a tricky problem mainly because everything you'd change dealing with the fan won't cause the fan to turn back on lol

    Bro I saved me so much money, thank you. I replaced that module about a year ago and it worked, now again my fans aren’t working, spent another $25 for another module and it wouldn’t work. Was about to spend $300 on some fans when I found your video and bro wtf.. a fuse!??? Lol

      @xXTruBum14XxTv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! I had my car at the dealership (non ford) and they kept telling me it was overheating but didn't know why. Had them give me the car back and turns out the fuse that had blown went out because my upstream O2 sensor had gone out, replaced the fuse and the sensor and bam, fan was back working like normal haha. If you drop the fuse in and after a couple of drives it goes out again, one of your O2 sensors needs to be replaced

  • @LA_Commander
    @LA_Commander 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Guys, a blown fuse is only a SYMPTOM of a problem, not THE problem itself. Replacing the fuse will not solve the problem, it only creates a temporary fix until the new fuse blows again. You have to diagnose the root of the problem not just replace a fuse.

    There’s a large fuse in a thin case that has 8 fuses in it with a single large wire between the battery and air box. My relay was good, F32 good but fan still not working. Ran lead from battery to fan, it works and to control module, it works. Now all I have left is the one big fuse between the batt and air box. I just can’t figure out how to test it. This is my last hood before dumping huge $$$ to take it to a shop or dealer where labor is now 145-170/hr vs in June 2020 it was 85/hr.

  • @bubba842
    @bubba842 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Fuse F32 is the heater control module fuse, not the O2 sensor fuse. The mechanics in the shop must have been pretty terrible if they didnt check the fuse first. This is literally the first thing you do in electrical fault finding. The fact that they didn't check if there was any power to the fan control module before condeming it is pretty embarrassing.

    • @xXTruBum14XxTv
      @xXTruBum14XxTv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely check the fuse, im not sure if the fuses are in the same spot across all years/trim levels, but you'll be looking for the fuse that powers your o2 sensors. If that fuse is blown, then one or both of your o2 sensors went out and will need to be replaced. Fixing that, assuming that the fuse went out, will fix the fan since they run along the same circuit (thanks ford!🖕🏽)

      Check your owners manual or online for it. Different engine means fuses control different components with most cars with varying models like the focus. We have a EV, a 1.6 1.8 2.0 and 2.3 and diesel depending on your country.

    My fan will turn on, on my ST, but it seems like it’s not reaching the high speed it’s suppose to. I change the thermostat, put new coolant and change the valve cover gasket and with the AC off my car will drive fine, but if I get on the highway, the needle will go a little above the halfway and will go back down when I slow down. If I have the AC on, the temperature will go up. What do you think?

    • @LA_Commander
      @LA_Commander 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Normally, a car will overheat if stuck in traffic but will cool down once on the highway due to better airflow. But your case if the reverse. When you have more air flow you are getting hotter! This usually means a lack of coolant flow. As the engine RPM increases you aren't getting an increase in water flow, but when you slow down the engine cools down again. Check your water pump, thermostat, and coolant passages for blockage.

    I have a fiesta 2014 titanium. Same issues it’s intermittently overheating to 3/4 and going back down. Replaced the thermostat, coolant temp sensor, coolant overflow tank & the radiator fuse & relay for that fuse😑. Not loosing coolant not getting white smoke no milky residue on the dipstick or the engine cap. If this fuse is the issue I’m going to lose my mind. 4 weeks and countless nights of reading forums with no solution in sight. Now, however, if you don't have a splash guard/ under tray, there is also a possibility the fan assembly could be shorting out from hitting puddles or running the car through car washes. @@xXTruBum14XxTvI believe after all my homework, when the upstream O2 sensor heater goes out (blows fuse #32) it causes the cooling fan control module to lose ground. With that fuse out of commission, the cooling fan control module still has power, but no ground. Therfore the cooling fan will not kick on. It's definitely a glitch in how the wiring harness was put together on this rig. But if you run a temp ground from your cooling fan control module & run a wire from the power side of the module to the fan wire.. Boom.. You can have a fan until it's fixed. Craziness! 🤘
